  1. This thread has been a life saver for me. I am in a stall, was nauseated for weeks and so on and it means a lot to know I am not alone. Thanks all of you!
  2. It's been a roller coaster for me. Sleeved on 9/10 I spent 3 days in hospital to return 2days later for another 3 days. Then I thought I was on my way to recovery when I was readmitted -I spent 10 days in the hospital for a very serious bowel obstruction. I've been home almost three weeks and finally able to move around. Weight loss? It is in a stall I have lost only three pounds in the last two weeks. I feel crazy frustrated and even though I know I need to just work my way through ( there is no going back) I dream about a time machine so I could go back and not do this! I'm also struggling with vitamins. Anybody got ideas for a swallowable multi-vit? Trying many none has really worked. Thanks for listening and any advice is welcome.

    REGRETTING.....

The verdict is still out for me. I have gone throw so much and fir me the problem was a partial obstructed bowel. Here's how it went. On Sept 10 I was sleeved. When I woke up I was nauseated and this continued. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days/3 nights. Went home and 36 hours later I was in the ER. I was admitted for dehydration . Nausea continued and IV fluids were started. After another 3 days I went home. Five days after I went home I felt better and seeing the end of the tunnel began to focus on my health goals. I moved through purée phase and started soft foods. Then on the morning of 10/3 I was doubled over with pain and went to the ER I was vomiting uncontrollably, my side was in pain and Ithe nausea was relentless. The started doing tests- upper Gi CT scan, etc... I had to drink the terrible fluid while the radiologist watched it move through. I warned him there was no way I would keep this foul tasting liquid down. He patted my shoulder and told me " it'll be better than you think. After vomiting everywhere ( including the radiologist) I consumed enough for them to discover a full bowel obstruction. My surgeon wanted to see if the stricture might open up on its own ( I have a complicated med history) so I had the ng tube inserted through the nose and down the throat to pump out my gut (Ouch), got a pic line for feeding because I couldn't hold down anything, and I was given phenegren, zofran and other drugs that eventually started to work. Finally on 10/9 I had another surgery to clear the obstruction and do a complete hernia repair. The surgery was done laparoscopically but it produced 16 new incisions ! I finally left the hospital on 10/13 yup that means I was there for 10 days + 4 + 3 for a grand total of 17 days in the hospital. I've been home for 10 days and I can say it is getting better everyday. I still need to take my nausea meds but I figure it can only get better from here. Hang in there and write down every reason why you did this. I helps keep me focused.

    Sleeping

You are not alone I am 8 days post op ( from the obstructed bowel hernia repair surgery that was need after the sleeve surgery on 9/10) I can only sleep on my back and I am really a side sleeper so it just sucks. I use a lot of pillows because I still roll in the night ( and often wake up in pain yikes)

    post op

Wow! I am three weeks post op and as far as food goes I can barely eat anything (it is just too much) today I had 1 scrambled egg 1/3 cup of puréed leek and potato soup( no cream). Thats it. I drink 2 Protein shakes with almond milk and usually staying up a little longer than I would like to have the last shake. The scale hasn't moved in a week ( which is unbelievably frustrating) I get my protein and Water and usually hit between650 and 700 calories, I have no idea if this is normal but there it is.
  6. The best advice is see the Dr who prescribed Zoloft and fell them what is happening. Don't wait to feel better. If you have a history of depression get in and see your doc. They can change your dosage or prescribe a different medication. If you see a therapist make an appointment. If not call your insurance company and see what they cover a pick a therapist and GO. Check out your local support group. It may take a village to raise a child but it takes a team of support to manage a life altering event. You are completely normal to have this deepen an existing depressive episode. Good luck and keep us posted. We are all rooting for you!

    Pain in my legs

It sounds strange but .... Glad to hear it? Everything you describe is happening to me too (three weeks post op) . I figured it was a muscle thing since I just started on protein7 days ago and went 12 days with no protein after surgery. Let me know if u get more information. Best of luck to you ( and me too! I thought losing weight would make walking easier... Who knew?)

    Nausea and me

Thank you all! The nausea finally broke on post op day 9. It really was amazing within the span of an hour the nausea dissipated. Since, liquid diet is in swing. My incisions still ache ( from all the retching) but I am sleeping and meeting the protein and water goals.

    Surgery done! Help

I have to say this a " must do movement" contact your Dr office now. Not open? Ask to have the on call Dr call you ASAP. Explain you either didn't get or really don't understand what to do now. It seems extreme but you should never have been sent home without Your Dr and hospital staff having provided you clear and direct instructions. All the best
  12. I am 9 days out. I stayed in for 3 days because I couldn't hold down anything. Then went home for a day to return to hospital for a read mission for dehydration. The first 8 days were to true. I felt the pain would never end. When we suffer it is hard to see beyond pain. Pain is all consuming. But we are gifted with imagination and here is where you need to us it. Speak your WLS dreams out loud. List the reasons you wanted to live a different life. List the positive (things to come). List the negative things ( all that you hate about being fat and how it limits your life). And do this over and over and over and over and over and eventually you will survive what feels impossible to survive and you will soar!!!
  13. I would suggest if the incision pain is significant wear a binder to hold your core together as your muscle recovers. Glad it worked out:)
