Thanks, ladies. I'll fast up until my liquid diet. I'll have to do it just a few days a head of my surgery. I Please let me know how your fasting is going Ms. Cali. Here in Minnesota we'll be fasting for 16-17 hours. Yikes! InshaAllah, all of you fasting will have a blessed Ramadan.

Great topic, Ms.Cali!! I'm not sleeved yet but I wondered how fasting would be after being sleeved. Suzy2030 glad to hear fasting was easy for you after being sleeved. I, too, have a question about Ramadan. I am being sleeved July 26th and so I'd like to fast until that date BUT I also have to do a few days of liquid diet. I'm not sure how that will work.I have an appointment next week with my surgeon so I'll ask him what his thoughts are on it. Anyhow, any info and advice would be appreciated. Oh and Ramadan kareem!!

Salaam all! Looks like no one has posted in a while but I'd love to hear everyone's progress. I'm Shari and I'll be sleeved in Minneapolis, Mn. I was born and mostly raised here (except for a few years in Saudi Arabia and summers in Egypt). Let's get this thread going again! -
Hello all ???? My surgery is set for July 26th by Dr.Leslie at the U of M, Fairview. I live in the Twin Cities. Has anyone started a Twin Cities or Minnesota Facebook Support page? Are ther any local support groups to meet and greet? Another question who did you feel first day or two after surgery. I'm not good coming out of anesthesia, that is what scares me the most. I'd love to meet locals who understand since I'd am the only one out of friends and family who will have done something like this. I'm very excited to started my new life. Looking forward to hearing more from you all. Shari .

Afternoon all, I'm half way to the process needed to get the importantly needed surgery. Monday, I met with my primary care physician so that she could write a letter of recommendation to the surgeon, which she happily did. She also ordered the labs that my surgeon requested be completed. I just received the results of some of the fasting labs I had drawn this moring. I can't believe some of the numbers! I am so upset with myself for allowing myself to get to this point. Sorry, I guess this is a pitty party post. I just have to get this out. I know that, yes, I'm over weight (or as my chart says morbidly obese) but these labs and recently changes in my body are showing me (although I had been ignoring them) that I have an issue with food. I know what to eat and how much to eat but I choice to ignore it because I like food. I know I could chose better food options like an apple over chips but sad thing is I like them both and usually end up eating the apple AND the chips. My surgeon is requiring that I lose 10 pounds. I know it's not a lot but I haven't been able to lose 5 pounds. I am so ready for a lifestyle change that I am forced to abide by. As of tomorrow, I have decided to start to drink Protein shakes regularly to substitute a few meals for the week. We'll see how that goes. I'm wondering how many folks who've had this surgery end up having some sort of therapy for "compulsive eating?" I didn't think I was a food addict or anything, even with all the indulging but now I'm wondering if maybe I am. Anyhow, thanks for listening. I know things will get better. Those labs just through me. Shari

Hey All! I think Minnesota's planning on skipping spring all together and go straight to summer. Miznunu, Dr. Leslie from the Univ. of Mn Physicians (UMP) will be my surgeon at the University of Minnesota, Fairview Hospital. He did a different surgery previously and I was very impressed. Thought, I'd stick with him. Magpie, congrats on rapids weightless. How are you feeling 6 weeks out?

Hi ! My name is Pamela B. and I THINK I'm having a JULY surgery
SAI2013 replied to bunchlane1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone! I'm Shari and I have my surgery scheduled for July 26th. I was suprised to read about the six month diet requirement for some insurances. My surgeon is the one requiring that I lose 10 pounds prior to surgery, which I am currently working on. My insurance does require that I have three visits with the NUT. I've completed one visit with the NUT and two more to go. I've also met with the psychologist for an initial one-on-one. My second appointment is next week and apparently I have to take some testing. One of which is 500 plus questions! Yikes! All worth it though. I'm currently 5'5' and 248lbs. I, too, have to do the endoscopy, which I'll have done next month. Sounds like insurance appooval won't be as of yet, The facility performing the surgery will wait until I finish up with my NUT and the psychological assessment to send out for an approval. I look forward to going on this journey with all of you. -
