What's your favorite veggie and how do you prep it?
getlownurse replied to Reigo's topic in Food and Nutrition
Is squash a vegetable? I'm a huge fan. I don't cook, but my husband cuts up yellow squash (summer squash) and green squash (zucchini) into a bunch of little rounds-think checkers pieces. He puts it in evoo with onion and salt and pepper in a pan and cooks it covered on low for 20ish minutes until soft, stirring as needed. I love it. Not sure of the carb count in squash though? He cooks fresh green Beans in a similar manner. Spaghetti squash is another favorite for me, but we pretty much solely use it as spaghetti noodles. Cut in half, take out the seeds and cook in the oven on 350 for an hour. When it comes out, scrape the guts with a fork lengthwise. He puts a little evoo and salt and pepper on it too. Then we add spaghetti sauce and ground turkey. Note- if anyone has any other ideas for ways to use spaghetti squash, I'd love to hear it. I'm also not sure if mushrooms are considered vegetables, but I like portobello mushrooms topped with tiny shrimp and cheese. -
I've done alright with the fruity v8, I'm only 2 weeks out. Have you tried that?

Mmmmm grits! I needed the fudge pop, I'm pre-period

I've been having hummus, eggs with cheese, tuna, soft shredded chicken chewed well, avocado/guacamole, yogurt, babybel cheese, cottage cheese, thicker soups, mashed potatoes. The little cans of tuna have lots of protein, so a good choice. Oh and I had a weight watchers fudge pop tonight that was awesome.

Stay classy, as always.

How did recovery compare to previous surgeries?
getlownurse replied to nmck's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had two c-sections. They were a piece of cake for me. The sleeve was a somewhat difficult recovery for the first day or so, much more intense than the cesarians. But it passes. You will be fine and happy -
Yes, yes, let's all believe everything that Laura ven says.

Gatorade. For now, just worry about fluids, nothing else. (my opinion)

Does your sleeve have a name?

Isereno, I'm obsessed with your meals. They sound great, always. This has probably been addressed, but are you on myfitnesspal?

How often do you weigh yourself? and not going crazy
getlownurse replied to Greeky83's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My scale broke a few months ago and I'm refusing to buy a new one. Here in Florida, we have a grocery store that has a badass scale in every store. I usually do my grocery shopping elsewhere, but once every week to two weeks, I make it a point to pick something up there so I can use the scale. Ditching the scale was a great thing for me. I will probably be a daily weighed once I get closer to goal though, ugh. -

Pb2 is peanut butter. I've just read about it here. Supposedly it tastes exactly like regular PB but has way less calories. I looked it up the other day and also saw that they have chocolate peanut butter. Yummmm, mmmmmm. -
It will be a million times better by tomorrow babe. Ask for some meds, keep up the walking, get some rest. Praying for you.

I think the sugar in peanut butter is fine, personally. Is peanut butter thin enough consistency though? Have you read about that pb2 stuff? Has like 45 calories instead of 180-210 like regular pb -

New mommy, mine hurts! I actually scared myself into thinking it was major yesterday lol. So I spoke with the nurse and she said its normal. It's the insides healing up. It should be gone within a week. Feel better! -
Oh and mines just the left side, no back.
-
I have the same! Was sleeved June 19 and mine started yesterday. I am almost positive it's just the woes of learning our new sleeves. If it gets much more than uncomfortable, I'd give the doc a call though. Good luck and feel better.
