  1. I want to connect to some folks from alabama? I would like to know which surgeons and/or hospitals that you would recommend. Good and bad reviews are welcomed. Thank you;-)
  2. I have had a pretty Uneventful time with my sleeve too. I can eat about 4 oz. of yogurt with no problems. I like it that my body tells me "whoa that's enough!!" I never had that before. I was sleeved 5/30 and have only had a problem with an incision area. I don't really have hunger... But I know when I need to eat something. No nausea or vomiting either! So far, so good!!!

    Surgery tomorrow!

I had My sleeve May 30. I was very nervous before and up to the surgery. The first day was rough. Do not be afraid to ask for pain meds or nausea meds. I got a little nauseous once. That was it. You will do fine. I had very little pain too. Stay positive!! Best wishes.
  5. What did your diet look like for the first six weeks after surgery?

    Diet after the sleeve

For the first five days were you on clear liquids only?

    I'm angry!

I had my sleeve on the 30th. I have not felt any different than before. I had the two week liquid diet before. Now I have 3 more days of clear liquids. I keep looking forward. I have not even let it cross my mind as some kind mistake. Our mind can be our worst enemy. I keep looking forward. Yes I do have cravings... Not hunger! I would kill for a ribeye! I will have that ribeye. But it will be around week 7. I don't care if I have to purée it!! Too many people look at this as a mistake. What is done is done! We have to stay positive and keep that sabotaging mind of ours at bay!!! We got this!! We can do it!! And be a whole lot healthier in the process!!!

    Alabama Here

I had my surgery yesterday. Not too bad. Just pretty tired. Not much pain at all so far. Dr miles and Schmidt are the best. Their staff was so nice and caring. I highly recommend them!!

    Doubters

Very well said! I too have just begun telling people outside my family that I am having the surgery. I have had zero negative responses. My hairdresser who is absolutely gorgeous and perfectly built "said good for you, I know you have you tried everything to lose weight, this will work!" This really made my day! I have been pleasantly surprised by all of the positive feedback and comments from friends and family. Of course they are worried, but staying obese is far worse when there are ways to get the weight off. My advice to everyone is beware of negative people. Keep them out of your mind! There is only room for positive thoughts there!!

    Cpap blues

I have been using my Cpap for over a month. The nose piece irritates me a little. When I wake up at night, I am wide awake. I wake up every morning at 5 am ready to run a marathon. I cannot believe how awesome I feel since I have started using the Cpap. I will take the little inconveniences any day for the way I feel now!!! I highly recommend it if you wake up tired or feel tired most of the day!
  13. Hi, fairly new to vst. I have been researching and planning this for about 2 years. I told my husband first. He is very supportive. I didn't want to tell my mom or anyone else. Mostly shame because I have never in 20 years been able to lose the weight myself. I have told a few others. I am telling more And more. I am at the point of "don't care!" I probably know thirty people who have had wls locally. This is for our health. Either tell or don't! It is your call. I am almost positive a lady I work with had some type of Wls. I asked her. She said no. I wanted to know so that I would have someone to talk to who had gone through it. So if you don't tell, you may miss an opportunity to help someone else through this difficult adjustment period.
  14. Hi everyone! I am getting a little nervous!! Anyone else being sleeved this Thursday??

    Im struggling preop diet

I am in day 2 of my preop diet. It really has not been bad. I have been eating sugar free Popsicles, sugar free pudding, creamed soups (cream of chicken tastes like a pot pie to me). I have also kept myself busy to keep from thinking about food. Tomorrow will probably be a different story. I have a faculty luncheon to go to:-/ this is probably where I will lose it!

Sleeved May 15 and Regretting it

Something to think about is that with this rapid weight loss your body's hormones are crazy and depression and feeling bad comes with it. I will be sleeved next Thursday. I am already trying to mentally prepare for this. You can do this!!! My parents can be pretty negative too. Surround yourself with positive people and people who believe in you. Stay away from places that will tempt you, or set off a pity party, or cause a homicidal event. We are all here for you for encouragement and support!!!

    Tightening Loose Skin

My surgery date is also set for May 30. I hope to lose 130-140 lbs. I am kind of in a daze about the whole ordeal. A little nervous and a little excited. Also concerned about excess skin.

    Wow! Hoop jumping!

I just got word... I am approved!!!! So excited! I feel like I have won the lottery!!!
  25. Ok! I have everything in to be submitted for insurance approval. The coordinator is supposed to submit this evening or tomorrow morning. Well she informed me that she has not received the sleep study report yet; and I will have to wait two more weeks for clearance if the doctor feels I need a Cpap. I did not even know that I had moderate sleep apnea until I had the study. I am trying to get a date at the end of May. June is slam full of obligations. I don't want to have to wait until July. I pray that everything will fall into place????
