Thank you for all the information! It makes sense, and I am going to try the suggestions. And yes....I'm on omeprozole twice a day but doesn't seem to matter when I drink. Happy 4th everyone!

I'm 5 weeks post op and can not drink water. I have tried to flavor it, expensive bottled, and Crystal Light. When I drink them my stomach makes the hungry feeling and nausea hits me. I'm having problems staying hydrated. I am able to drink my protein mixed with Sunny D without a problem. Can anyone give me some insight?

I feel your pain. I didn't have a drain...but I did have diarrhea. You must be very careful with that. More than 3-4 stools a day is cause for concern. Make sure you are getting in at least 64 oz of water (which is impossible at day 6) or have your dr. Send you in for fluids. I had to go twice after being released. I still battle diarrhea almost 4 weeks out...but its easier to get my fluid in so its managable. When you get dehydrated...you have zero strenght and just feel sick in general. Call your dr. I'm only 12 days post op. I got so mad that I couldn't get my protein in from the nasty shakes....I went ahead and got a dish of vanilla-88 fat free- from dq and added light peanut butter. I also had the insides of 2 crab Rangoon. Even though they are not the best choice for calories...they made me feel amazing. This is the best I have felt since coming home.

Actually I am 9 days post op. My surgery was on May 29th. My dr'S are just all over me to get fluids every 3 days unless I'm getting 64 oz of water daily. I'm going to try the smart water. I will keep you guys posted. Thank you for all the information!

Yes....and water is better but they want me ti drink gatoraide or propel sugar free for the electrolytes. I'm not vomiting....its the other way.

I know I have read this a million times but i need you guys. I am not having any luck with getting my fluids and protein in. I can get about 40 grams protein and 30 oz of water. My dr. Called today and they want me to go back in for fluids....my second time. A lot of this has to do with the fact I have diarrhea instead of the normal constipation. Has anyone had this and how do I fix it? Everything that goes in comes right out...and I'm drinking all sugar free and using unjury with almond milk.

I'm opposite. I just came back from getting more fluids. I'm having diarrhea and they think I have the intestinal infection you can get from abdominal surgery. Then....I'm allergic to the levsin they give fir stomach spasams (I found out in the hospital as my eyes swelled shut) so I have constant stomach spasams. Still...I would do it all over. Down 10 pounds. Do you guys have the feeling your stomach is always growling? I'm on opeprazole twice a day???

I was sleeved 5/29...I awoke pretty nauseated but they gave me a shot right away and it took care of it. No pain at all even 6 days post op. Just stomach spasams. Good luck to you guys! I have to say my experience with surgery and the overnights were great!

I also have bruises. I have seven holes because of the way my ribs are. I also have 2 bruises on my underwear line that were not incissions. My dr. Xhecked it in the hospital yesterday and said everything looks great. He said some people bruise more that others. I hope your feeling great!!!

So I had surgery weds. At 4 in the afternoon and i felt great till the late afternoon. then I have had several bousts of nausea and my chest is reallt tight when I drink. Has anyone else gone frome great to bad?
