Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Wow!! Chilly morning! Windy out here... but intermittent. Temp is 54 according to our outdoor sensor. Didn't go to water aerobics because memorial mass for our Red Hat Queen's husband was this morning. Was supposed to go to pot luck lunch/reception afterward, but... would've had to stop at Von's to get something from the deli to take, and decided that was going to make me late, I wouldn't be able to find a place to park... her RV park has very limited parking, and then I'd probably eat too much and eat the wrong things. So I went to Von's and bought stuff for chili instead. Came home and made a big crock of chili... it's simmering now, for dinner, but I sneaked a small bowl for lunch. Made two bracelets so far this week and started on a 3rd last night. Really like the pattern she taught us this week, so bought 3 additional "kits" at class, in different color combinations. One I started last night is black and burgundy beads. Will keep me busy this afternoon, and I have to make a poster for bulletin board at Activities for WA state Sky Valley pot luck. Somehow ended up in charge of that! And I'm falling behind in preparations. Got it in the monthly "Roadrunner" booklet, but needs to be on bulletin boards around the park, too. Then, I should arrange for some entertainment. Too bad it's not when you are here Candice... I'd have you sing! I think you could chalk it up to "Utilities..... Heating"! Here's a new shoe story... I've been admiring these sandals a lady at the pool has.... look very comfortable, almost like Merrills. So I asked her where she got them and she said "Earth Spirit"..... Walmart!! So, I looked for them last weekend and found a few pairs on closeout for $20. So of course, I couldn't resist buying a pair. But with Earl constantly fussing about too many purses, hats and shoes, I couldn't just hand them to him and tell him I was buying new shoes! So... I took them to the cash register down at the garden shop end and used my card from my "mad money" account so he wouldn't see the charge on any of our "joint" cards! Then I told the cashier to chuck the box and I stuffed the shoes in to a pouch on the back of my scooter. I went and found Earl and told him I needed the car keys because I was going to go outside and walk the dog and then we'd wait in the car for him. So... I DID walk the dog, but I also hid the shoes under the back seat. Then... when we got home, after a while he said he was taking some garbage to the dump with the golf cart. so while he was gone... I sneaked the shoes in to the RV and hid them in the back of my closet. Problem now is.... I CAN'T wear them until I come clean!!! LOL! Was thinking I'd tell him to get all my shoes down... he keeps them in a cubby above the bed where I can't reach them so every time I want a different pair I have to ask!!! Pathetic!! But.. I could tell him to get them all down because I want to get rid of a couple of pairs. And then I could later get out the new ones and start wearing them. Do you think this will work??? He will KNOW he hasn't seen these shoes before! I sneaked and bought a purse at C.O.D. a couple of weeks ago and either he never noticed I'm using a different purse or he's decided it's not worth hassling me!! Hee hee hee!! He wants this helicopter he saw at C.O.D. for $150 really bad but so far he won't buy it! Then he saw the same one at the hobby shop for a lot more $$, so maybe I can talk him in to buying that and then I can pull out the shoes!! HAHAHA!! I think I will be getting some $$ from the car accident, so then I will buy me a new laptop, and maybe one for him, too, and maybe I'll buy an iPad! Anything that's left goes in my Mad Money account! I took cash out of our main account today and checked balances and I wonder.... WTH!! Why is he hassling me about money!!!! It's ridiculous.

    I'm here to help...

Boy!! You sure are getting it down there!! My OK friends, too! Having lived in OKC for 15+ years, I had to chuckle at the news footage from there yesterday. I can't imagine the chaos!! I remember one snowy day when we lived there.. I was working for Aetna in medical insurance... Having grown up in Buffalo NY, snow and ice didn't scare me so off I went to work that morning. Only one other person showed up out of about 50 who worked in that office!! But everyone got paid! So a few months later, me and that other person got a bonus for showing up that day. Cheri... so sorry about your accident. Glad you aren't in too much pain. They gave me a shot of Toradol lasts March when I had a bad episode of back pain. I was amazed at the instant relief! Didn't work so good after the accident we had last summer, though. Yeah, Arlene, bladder infection was my first thought, too, when I heard those symptoms. I have a long history of chronic bladder infections and it still catches me off guard when my first symptom is feeling weakness in my legs. I always wonder what is going on for a while before it finally dawns on me.... duh!! Bladder infection. Yeah... no one posting photos anymore because it's too darn complicated! I want to post pics of the bracelets I made this week. Working on my third one for the week! Love the pattern, so I picked out beads in four different color combinations... turquoise and black, burgundy and black, gold and blue, silver and blue. Will keep my busy this afternoon since it's too cold and windy to go outside! Yeah, I know..... 55 would be balmy to some of you right now!! And we DO have sunshine. Memorial mass this morning for my Red Hat Queen's husband... died over Christmas. Very sad. I was supposed to go to pot luck lunch afterward at her RV park, but decided not to... would've had to pick up something at deli and then I would probably eat things I shouldn't. So came back home with stuff to make chili!

I'll try the pictures that way but sure was easier before! Walked the dog around 8pm and it was pleasant and not windy. Shortly after that the wind kicked up and it's been blowing ever since. Paper says 50 mph gusts tomorrow and 20 degree temp drop. So, if it's miserable in the morning again, I will not go to the pol. I went today, but 15 minutes late and couldn't exercise very vigorously because my hip was hurting. Had to skip some of the exercises. But.... like I said, walked the dog part way around the block tonight without much discomfort. Have to come up with a $$ number for insurance company for "pain and suffering" as they want to close out the accident claim. If you have suggestion.. email me. Yes, I had pre-existing back problem, but never had the sciatic pain prior to the accident... and the pain going down my leg, numbness in my foot. Last couple of months, pain not as frequent but still comes back. They didn't have to pay for anything yet because all the providers have sent the bills to Medicare and Tricare.

Geez!! Hope the plague goes away SOON!! Here's something for you to look forward to and take your mind off of it...... beading ladies reminded me today that one of the local stores that we go to for beads sells magnificent quilting fabric as well as supplies. Will take you there! I've bought a few beads there.. high priced place, but nice stuff. Bring an empty suitcase. Made two bracelets this week.... blue/silver yesterday.... stayed at class for 4+ hours ad still had to finish it at home. But, today I made another of the same pattern in turquoise and black and I was done in about 3 hours! I spent a lot of time picking out colors yesterday. That always takes me the longest time!! Stupid site! Impossible to insert pictures! You'll have to see the bracelets on FB!

    I'm here to help...

Glad you had a good sleep! Sounds like one heck of a storm coming to a good part of the midwest today!!! It won't get you down there in TX, I suppose. We're having a chilly, windy morning and my sciatic pain is back... left hip, again. So I decided to skip the pool this morning. But... as I commented on FB, doesn't hurt bad enough to skip beading later!!! Last night's weather report said the wind is going to stick around all week! And temps nothing close to what they've been for the past couple of weeks. Have to find my favorite sweatshirt again! Reading all about your plans for the Chicago trip are awfully tempting!! Sounds like a great time. But I think we have too many travel plans for the coming months to include that in my agenda!

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Wow!! That IS good news!! Takes a load off your mind! Sorry about the sleep problems. Meat loaf is one of my favorite things. It's been a while since I've had some! We rarely buy hamburger.... always use ground turkey for our chili, spaghetti, etc. And, of course, my french style green beans for spaghetti substitte. Haven't had that in a while either... but I had the real stuff at Olive Garden over the weekend.... angel hair. Ate half and the rest the next day, and sauce was light... enjoyed it. But... yeah, I could go for some meat loaf! Steph and Candice are probably too cold to type~! I think Janet still has her family there.... might be taking the day off. Decided I WILL skip the pool. Hip hurts every time I move. The sciatic pain is back, but not too bad. As I said on FB, I won't go to the pool, but it doesn't hurt too much to skip beading!!! LOL AW......love you, too, Kar!! HUGS!

Wind is STILL blowing and I don't want to go to the pool! Have to make up my mind in 30 minutes! My bag is on the golf cart, but I am undecided. I hate being in the pool when it's this windy. Even if I wear my swim jacket, it will be cold, esp when we do the pool side exercises and my shoulders are out of the water. Besides that, my left hip is acting up this morning for the first time in over a month! Don't know if I can make myself go! Rain was kind of funny,, actually. After all Earl's fussing, it was over by the time he got the seats covered. AND, what was the deal.....???? It has a ROOF! Okay, so the wind was blowing, but it wasn't going to get THAT wet! At least he settled down quickly! Told him..... "see... this is what I mean!"

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Wind has been pretty much howling here since the middle of the night. Power went off twice during the night, too. And a little while ago we had a sudden, brief downpour. The man I live with had a full blown temper tantrum because it was raining and the weatherman said NOTHING about rain!! He was banging, slamming, swearing and running around like a crazy nut looking for plastic to cover up the golf cart seats! Totally bizarre behavior for 10 minutes! The dog hid under the couch! BUT... he's settled down now and eating some popcorn he just made. Very nice memorial service at chapel tonight for all the Sky Valley residents and snowbirds who died during 2010..... 27 of them. Didn't really want to go, but went because of Max. And then we were glad we did. It was very well done. And we put faces with names of people who died.... don't know everyone's last names, or even some first names... but then when you see the picture, too... it clicks. They read a brief obituary and showed photo of each person.... PowerPoint presentation..well done.

Just a quick post to let you know I'm still alive AND reading all your posts!! Speed reading, at times, but reading!! Very busy week with trip to AZ and Mexico, birthday party Friday night, lunch with friends on Friday, dance at our clubhouse last night. Church today... but have done just about nothing but play games on computer and phone most of the afternoon. Now getting ready to go to memorial service at our chapel for people who died last year. Would skip except for our friend Max who died in Oct. Tomorrow.... water aerobics, then beading!! Off and running for another week! Hugs to all!!

Good afternoon! Yeah, church this morning.... had to be there to practice with choir by 9:10 a.m. and then he didn't even have us sing two lines before he said, okay, that's good! Then we have to stay part way through the 2nd service, which is at 11 a.m., and leave after we sing. We did good.... acepella today... no take or piano accompaniment. We sounded pretty good I think. Been vegging ever since. Haven't even read the paper yet! And going to 6pm service because it's a memorial service for people who died in 2010, and we have Max, so we're going to go. We are going to have pork chops, homemade applesauce w/o sugar and asparagus for dinner. I get the page turning thing!! I keep reaching for the turn signals on the golf cart and it doesn't have any!! Feeling very lazy today. Should have worked on beading projects but I've done NOTHING! Played games on my phone and FB!! Cube Crash & Angry Birds!! Waste of time! Sky looks kind of pretty... gray clouds with sun shining through one hole. Very windy, cool day today. Hope you figure out how to get rid of those hives soon!!! That sounds miserable! BTW, I think I should be the one to proofread Janet's book!! LOL!!! I think those theories are kind of "out there", but I'm not a naturopath and have never been to one. Being a nurse, I have a hard time with anything other than traditional medicine... plus I'm OLD and my mind set tends to lean towards the traditional, as well. I hope you figure out what to do about the surgery soon! Sounds like some degree of urgency in getting the band removed. If it was me, I'd go with the sleeve, I think and figure out how to pay for it. But... that's just me. Bypass is too drastic, in my mind, and sleeve seems like a good alternative.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JANET!!!:party::party: Okay, gang! Time for just a quick post!! Crazy week here!! Wed-Thurs AZ & MX, yesterday was a whirlwind! Water aerobics, then off to DHS for lunch with our elderly friends from Ok. (See their photo on FB. They are same age as my mother!) Stopped at Starbucks/KMart on the way home. Dog groomer at 2pm, choir practice at 2:30 pm, off to birthday party at Olive Garden about 4pm!! Nuts!! Birthday party was funny. About two weeks ago I came home from beading and Earl tells me we were invited to this birthday party for "Herm", an old German guy, at Olive Garden Jan. 28 at 5:30 pm. So I get a funny t-shirt for Herm in Quartzsite, got a birthday card at KMart yesterday. So off we go to Olive Garden. We were WAY early, so sat down at the bar to order aglass of wine. Soon some neighbors wandered in. I said are you here for Herm's birthday party??? They said, no... it's Ruth's birthday (Herm's wife). So I said... she's going to look funny in the t-shirt I bought! (Old Fart's Agenda). So, we giggled and visited and sipped our wine together. Eventually.... about 25 people, we had a private room. And then I find out Ruth & Herm aren't even coming.... they've gone to dinner with our next door neighbors, Larry and WAnda!! And the birthday party was for four people and I didn't have cards for ANY of them!! I'm going to give the shirt to Herm anyways!! Olive Garden menu has ALL calories on the menu now, even for the drinks. So>>> I ordered 1 glass of house red wine, seafood capillini (690 calories and I brought half home!) BUT, salad, one bread stick and small piece of birthday cake!! Okay... gotta go.... want to go to Ham Radio "HamFest" this morning if I can get Earl o the stick! He's dragging this morning. And tonight.... music and dancing at our clubhouse.

Multi quote does NOT work!! Pisses me off every time I try!! Your spelling is pretty good today, Candice!! Good job on the shopping, Karla! Leaving early in the morning for Quartzsite AZ... Big RV Show/Rocks & Gems, mega swap meets, etc. We go every year. Then we'll stay in the casino west of Yuma tomorrow night and go to Algodones Mexico on Thursday, home Thursday night. Friends are keeping Zoey for two days. She'd have a blast with us, but afraid to take her over the border. Did a lot of beading this week. Finished two bracelet/earring sets. How did Mom's surgery go?? One of my water aerobics/TOPS/beading friends was in a bad accident w/her husband last weekend. Brand new truck was totaled, but they are okay. Except she has a broken sternum and she is in a lot of pain. Husband went off the edge of the road and when he tried to get back on he over corrected and lost control. He hit another car head on.

DO NOT FEEL GUILTY for anything you can't do right now!! You want to F>>>>> up your surgery!!!????? Knock it off!! And... any of you not getting your yearly mammograms.... Steph and I WILL hunt you down, tie you up , and take you to the nearest facility! Stop that "Deserve a sucky life" stuff, girl!! Or I will hunt you down for that too!! You deserve the best of the best. God does not condemn us for our failures!! And.... the circumstances of your marriage ... I don't know the details, but not sure that leaving that union would even qualify as a "failure"!!! God loves you... !!!! Like I said... FIND ANOTHER "CHURCH!! That one failed to show you God's love!!

I envy you those Sr. Center gigs. I would not be a nurse had I not had my first job in a nursing home. Fell in love with the old people... and I guess, now I ARE one!! Or almost!! I would love being able to take Zoey to some more nursing homes. I love GERIATRIC nursing. Well, except for old guys pinching your boobs and stuff like that! But... I can just imagine how much they are enjoying your music!! If nothing more... a GREAT ministry!! You are adding sunshine to their lives by just showing up, not to mention the GREAT music!! Your sister "UGLY"?? What's that about???? I think my sister, Mary Lou is probablly mad at me... and I guess for good reason. She was irritating me because every time I commented about one of the grandbabies looking like "so and so", she would answer back with another opinion. One time she even said, "My sister needs glasses!" So... me and my smart mouth... I answered bck, "whatever". So she says, "EXCUSE ME!! I thought I was entitled to an opinion!" So I came back with "I thought so too, but you said I needed glasses!" Then she says, "Did you schedule your eye exam yet??" So I said, "Did you schedule your colonoscopy???" Implying... you've got a bug up your a$$$$!!! HAHAHA!!! I see no sign of those exchanges on FB, so I assume she has erased them and she is probably pissed!!! LOL!! Who cares! I should get a job as a proof reader because I thoroughly enjoy correcting everyone's spelling errors!! A bit of a challenge tonight as I am under the influence! I am so pissed off! Neighbors having a birthday party for a mutual friend and they didn't invite us! My feelings are hurt very easily, I guess. But it is so annoying to sit in here on my couch and listen to them laughing and having a fun time. GRRRRR!! Don't get it??!!

Yeah! Cancer SUCKS!! My friend, Jacki, in Three Rivers, has one more week of radiation. She's been spending Mon-Fri in San Francisco for that and going home on the weekends. She's such a trooper. Took us sightseeing around SF, shopping at some of her favorite thrift shops, out to lunch, etc., the day we went to her treatment with her. She had double mastectomy 5 years ago and the damn curse came back in her pectoid muscle, right chest. Found it last summer. So grateful to God that our son, Chris' new ophtham. oncologist told him his chances of his cancer spreading are down to 5% now that he is past 5 years. And just had an email tonight from one of my elderly friends at Primetimers in WA. They found malignancy in her breast last week and she has to go talk to surgeon this week. SHIT!! WE just lost a 58 yr old from our little Primetimers circle last week.. have no idea what killed her except she was a diabetic. LINDA... did you butt dial me???? Phone rang about 4:15 pm, your caller i.d., but no one on the other end! Tried to call you back a little while ago, but no answer! CALL ME!!

Congrats on getting that bookkeeping done and balanced!! YAY! I spent about 8 hrs beading yesterday... through 2 football games and didn't put it away until after midnight!! Was so engrossed I had only one small glass of wine that I sipped on for HOURS!! Finished that project at beading today and will work on some other unfinished work tomorrow. Teacher did not introduce anything new today... "workshop" for unfinished projects and so turnout was small, but good opportunity for me as I have so many unfinished projects that I don't even remember where the patterns are for some of them!! Good for you!! Haven't heard the term "latch key incontinence", but can certainly relate. I have experienced that and it is so frustrating because you know it has to be psychological but you can't control it. I wear a pad all the time because I don't trust my bladder... even though it is much less a problem than it was 100++ lb ago!! I do the exercises whenever I think about it throughout the day. My new GYN doc took me off my Detrol LA, and I can't really say I've noticed any difference, so I guess it wasn't having much of an impact on that issue. I am glad to get off of anything I can. I take TOO many Rx!! I'm running out of Nexium in the next week or so and have somehow managed to be without a new Rx, so I'm going to see how I do without it. I think Zoey was mostly shocked when she jumped in to the pool, because the water was cold. Otherwise I imagine she would have stayed in! She definitely didn't seem to be in panic mode, even though she quickly jumped back out. I can't believe how BAD you are!!! LOL!! So.. yesterday I did about 8 hrs of beading!! Went to church in the morning... singing in the choir we have to stay until after we sing at the 2nd service, so.. came home around 11:30am, I guess. So,, had some lunch, then worked on a beading project until I was almost out of beads. Then went down the road to beading teacher's place.. 5 miles down the road, to get more beads and enough to do another of the same bracelet in different colors. Then I wanted to see how those colors looked together, so started on that bracelet when I got home. Worked on it through both football games, etc., and didn't quit until after midnight. By that time I had a large cat in my lap encroaching on my work area, and a jealous dog at my feet. I spent all afternoon sipping on one small glass of wine, and only quit beading long enough to eat dinner and go to the bathroom!! Did keep me from snacking, too!! Took me about 2 more hours to finish that bracelet today at beading, plus figure out a way to make matching earrings. Teacher doesn't like to do earrings, but I do... so I always try to have a few extra beads to somehow make matching earrings. She was impressed with the ones I made today. So.... today had my usual small omelet, then a Muscle Milk for lunch. By the time I came home from beading... around 2 pm I think, I was starving... Had a little round of cheese... can't remember what they're called. Then took Zoey for a golf cart ride and we got the mail while we were out. Had some wine when I got back, and some chips and hummus/salsa. Earl BBQ'd me a filet for dinner.. small, tender, w/onions, mushrooms and garlic. Had some corn with it. But... we had too much wine tonight. He kept filling my glass. He was working on his planes.. had been out in the desert flying his small one, and had the big one out while I was at beading. Now it needs extensive repairs!! I told the neighbors, his RC airplane hobby is more expensive than my beading because every time he flies one of them we're off to the hobby store to buy replacement parts.. I think he said today cost us a wing and a tail for the BIG airplane!! But I'm just so grateful that he has a hobby!! I think he is getting ready to go to the pool, and I may do some more beading!! Gold bracelet I started last week is still not done!! It's almost 7 p.m. Can I take off my bra yet??? Wed/Thurs is Quartzsite AZ and Algodones MX.... may get my eyes examined and get new glasses. And want to get new ceramic tile numbers for out in front of the RV. While we were gone over the summer someone backed in to ours with their car and broke the tiles. Going to look for a long table cloth for my friend Jacki, too. Better make a shopping list or I'll forget something!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

'Twas the month after Christmas, And all through the house, Nothing would fit me, Not even a blouse. The Cookies I'd nibbled, The chocolate I'd taste At the holiday parties Had gone to my waist. When I got on the scales There arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber), I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared; The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared, The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please." As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt And prepared once again to do battle with dirt... I said to myself, as I only can, "You can't spend a Summer, disguised as a man!" So, away with the last of the sour cream dip. Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip. Every last bit of food that I like must be banished Till all the additional ounces have vanished. I won't have a cookie, not even a lick. I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick. I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie. I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore... But isn't that what January is for? Unable to giggle, no longer a riot. Happy New Year to all, and to all a good diet.

Glad you had an enjoyable time with your friends! Sorry about your church experience!! It's not supposed to be that way!! Find another church!! Multiquote didn't work AGAIN!! Had a great time, last night, Janet! Thanks again!! Dogs had a good time. Zoey didn't get too dirty, AND, she jumped in the pool!! Janet and Earl went running to her rescue, but she'd jumped in where the steps are so she'd jumped out by the time they got to her. She is fascinated with water. Then... she got in trouble because she started to piddle in front of the fireplace. She NEVER does that! Earl took her and stuck her nose in it (she's so tiny, it wasn't more than a squirt before he saw what she was doing), and he chewed her out. She was crushed!! Her feelings were so hurt she went and hid in a corner of the kitchen behind a china closet! Candice.. so cold where you are!! Probably even colder than Buffalo. Training your bladder! Do you do "Kegel" exercises?? I try to remember to do them several times a day. It helps.

    I'm here to help...

Finally got through to the groomers voice mail. Now we'll see if she calls me back! I have three other people that want her to do their dogs!! Zoey didn't mind the bath. She's fascinated with Water...... Speaking of which, she jumped in Janet's pool last night!! Earl and Janet ran to rescue her, but she'd gone in by the steps so she quickly jumped back out again! But I have no doubt she wouldn't have if the water had been warmer! I love FB, too, and have found some hs classmates there. We're planning our 50th reunion, so have lots of people we're trying to find! Excuse me???? Not funny! I bet your local economy likes Snowbirds!! Yes, we did have a great time! And so glad you're having such a good time in AZ. We are going over to Quartzsite AZ on Wed. and then on down to Yuma and Algodones Mexico. Good job on the shopping!! Sure hope Katie didn't sign herself out and that she continues to get the help she needs. Dogs did have a great time with Dassi. And Bella and Zoey love to play together. Bear and Angel, not so much!! Glad your Packers won. I'm still watching the 2nd game and hoping the Jets will win, but going in to the 4th quarter, not looking so good! So glad your DD is doing well. Praying the contractions stay away until the baby is ready to come! Been sipping on the same glass of Merlot (boxed) all afternoon because I'm working on bracelets and watching football! Besides church and choir this morning, Zoey and I took a ride after lunch. Went to beading teacher's RV to get some more beads... ran out of two colors for bracelet I was working on, so while I was there I got beads to make another just like it in different colors. We have beading tomorrow, but she's making it a "workshop" for unfinished projects so she's not bringing any of her beads. Then we went to Starbucks, of course!
