Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Wow! Sounds like you need a rest!!! Four hours without the dogs will be great. So Andrew is finding out the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side of the fence!! Enlightenment is good!! He is now appreciating what he had! It's tough to live with grown up "children" because... they're "grown up" and want to make their own rules even though they are living under YOUR roof!! We've been there!! I didn't buy anything in Vegas! Never got to the outlet mall. Only thing I went home with was empty pockets and a T-shirt from Hooters that cost me a lot of money! Thinking maybe the scalping of the lawns is not helping Earl's sinuses to get better, especially with all the wind this week. Something was going on with Zoey last night. She had another one of those episodes of kind of going in to panic mode... going in circles on the bed, water coming out her nose... this at least an hour or two after she went to bed. So a little after midnight I took her outside to see if she had to pee. But she just wanted to go in circles, tried to drag me all over the neighborhood... straining to go over to Joy's, then Ruth's, then next door to where Larry & Wanda aren't yet... and my hip was killing me and hurt to walk.. so finally sat on a lawn chair on the patio waiting to see if she would calm down. Finally put her back inside and took her back to bed. But then she woke up Earl, too, and kept us awake until well after 1 a.m. She wanted to be near the head of the bed so Earl finally opened the blinds so she could see out, but she stood there at the window right at the top of my pillow, kind of whimpering. That went on forever until Earl finally took her back in the LR and held her on his lap in his recliner for a while. Not sure what happened after that but remember being awake at 3 a.m. And then at 6:45 a.m. she was literally walking on my face, plopped down right on top of my cpap mask until I moved her. Then she stood on my stomach! Finally settled down, but right on my belly, so... Saturday morning and I was hoping to sleep a little later but it just was not in the cards! Had to give up and get up a little after 7 a.m. She seems fine this morning, but... may have to take her to the vet to see what might be going on. She has these kind of snorting spasms... usually a couple of times a day, and we keep assuming she was just drinking too fast. Well... better go get dressed. We're going to C.O.D. street fair today. Karla... don't work too hard!! Candice, you're probably off to your sister's by now. Hope you have a great weekend with family and a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner!

Now that I'm back in the desert, I realize there just wasn't enough time to visit last weekend... especially one on one... I had good visits with some, but not enough time with others, and definitely not enough HUGS!! Some of that was my own fault and I regret that! I am such a slug in the morning! Half of Saturday could have been spent much differently if I had gotten out of my room!! Missing all of you!!

Yes, Cheri.... AMEN to Julie's comments. Julie... your comments are always so insightful and thoughtful!! I would just add that my strategy in getting through difficult things is very similar... to praise and thank God for however He is going to use these difficult circumstances for HIS good!! Hard things happen because we live in an imperfect world... but God can use these things to further HIS kingdom. It's difficult to comprehend why these awful things happen... all we can do is pray that some good will come from it. Somehow, some way!! HUGS, Cheri! You know we all care and are so sorry for the loss of this very special boy! Arlene.... good work on the exercise!! You know what hey say... "No Pain, No Gain!!" Julie... I am so glad you got that TENS unit! I am sure it will bring you some relief and hopefully help you avoid some of those pain killers! They used it at PT on my back this summer, after the accident, and I really think it helped. Does yours have heat/ice options?? Can't remember how they did that, and couldn't really see, but they did incorporate ice when they used it on me, and I remember him giving me the option of hot or cold and I opted for the cold even though I HATE being cold, because I know there was some swelling and ice is more effective for relieving swelling. Sounds like you have a handle on all the wedding preparations! You are very talented in that area!! Do you want to cater our 50th high school reunion??? LOL!! Here I am 3000 miles away and I seem to be the only one interested in getting arrangements made!!! Trying to light a fire under the "locals" is so far not too effective!! Yes, Jodi.... you handled your Mom very well!! Have to make her understand that you expect her to follow your rules when you're not there! Love you, Julie!! You're doing a great job pushing through the pain. I think the TENS is going to make a difference!! OUCH!! I was going to say.... no problem... cleaning up the AC joint until I read the part about removing part of your collar bone!!! You are correct in being more concerned about that pain than the band!! You'll be in our thoughts and prayers!! We're here for you! Great suggestions, Sandy!! I used my Magic Bullet all the time in the early stages, and we still use it a lot. My DH uses it to grind coffee all the time, for instance. So it's not a purchase you'll make and then only use for the initial post-op period. We have in inverter in the RV that we use for the laptop and other things when we're on the road. It would be very useful. I was thinking the same thing, Laura. I started my pre-op diet the first part of May and my surgery was July 20th. But the surgeon wanted me to get my BMI below 60 before he would do it.. so I had that hanging over my head. And I was concerned about the liver after that was explained to me. You will be FINE!! Stop your pouting!!! LOL!! Didn't you say he hadn't seen his mother in 20 years!!! He's overdo for a visit!! We are all praying for safe travel!! Keep busy and the time will pass quickly!! HUGS!! How was water aerobics today?? I was so grateful not to have that cold wind today.. it's been with us most of the week! So was the wine still on sale??? I'll look for it tomorrow.. I'm sure we'll be making a shopping trip tomorrow. I am finishing my last bottle of the homemade wine I bought in NY this week. It is so good. This one is Blueberry Shiraz! Earl says it's too sweet, so I have to drink it myself!!:biggrin::frown::thumbup::frown: Hope you and Tanker had an enjoyable day driving around the countryside!! Sounds like a beautiful fall day to do it! It's a little warm here today, but I LOVE it!! Yes, we are ALL mother hens... and with different perspectives that complement each other!! And we care about each other!! Sounds like you have a good plan for recovery/rehab! You can get some of the pain meds in liquid form. Not crazy at all!! A free spirit!! I love it!! I can picture that! I have been known to make up songs, too, to express my exuberance... or sometimes other emotions!! LOL No offense to my ND friends, (sorry, Julie), but my most famous was called "I Hate Minot"!! It came about shortly after DH dropped me off at Minot AFB, in an empty 4 bedroom base housing unit with 4 kids from 1 1/2 to 8 yrs old.(he had to go back to Denver to finish an AF school he was attending!) Hardwood floors (imagine the pitter patter of 4 kids and a dog in a gym), cushions from our li ttle travel trailer were my couch, camping cooler was my end table. Cot from family services, card table and folding chairs I think some gracious neighbors lent me. The kids amused themselves by playing "Hide and Seek" and sometimes used the kitchen cupboards to hide out! Not to mention having a 2nd grade teacher put me through weeks of hell because our oldest daughter was "shy" and it was all my fault because I was an overprotective mother!! GRRRR! It was an interesting 6 weeks. The song was therapy!!! HAHAHA!! Mmmmmm, yes... been there, done that!! DH and I spent about 3 1/2 hrs apart during his 21+ years in the AF including a stint in VietNam, leaving me in NY near my family with a 6 mo old, 20 mo old and 3 1/2 yr old! We make it through, with God's help! Family was great, and joined a group of wives whose husbands were all deployed. That was a great help. But what really stands out in my mind was all that my Dad did! He would babysit those three little ones so I could go places with my Mom... WW, etc., and he always did it joyfully and often would be giggling about something the kids did while I was gone. I could call him at 10pm and tell him... Dad, I just realized I have NO milk for morning and the kids are all asleep... and he'd go out and buy me some milk. He was wonderful... and I'm not sure I ever told him how much that meant to me!! When I think of Earl being gone all those months... that's what comes to my mind!! Not the pain of the separation, but all the support of family and friends, but especially my Dad!! Okay... I've obviously had too much wine because I'm getting all sappy!! (only 2 small glasses, honest!!) I LOVE all of you!! So, did you enjoy your free time??? Zoey needs to have a visit to the groomer... just can't decide who to take her to down here in the desert. She needs ears, face, butt and nails done SOON! We are all SO excited about how well you are doing!!! CONGRATS!!! Being an RN myself, I am VERY impressed with your grades and how well you are doing in nursing school!! YOU GO GIRL!!! What a GREAT idea!!!

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Earl is feeling better, but still complaining of sinus drainage and ear aches. Over a week on antibiotics now. Follow up appt is Tuesday afternoon. Thanks for asking. He's trying hard to cope with the heat today, too. I asked him to please not turn on the a/c until at least 3 pm! I hate having the windows all closed up, blinds closed and a/c on!! Holy Cow!! You have a busy week coming up!! No shopping??!! Bummer! I don't have room for anything anyway! I'm surprised I didn't catch any flack for the things I bought last week before Vegas!! Hope Bella lets you sleep a little later this weekend! One morning this week Zoey decided to walk on my face and neck a little after 7 a.m. because I was a little later than usual waking up! That pretty much did it... very effective. Sprawl yourself across my neck and lick my eyes. Then I slipped off the cpap mask and she thoroughly cleaned my nose! C'mon, Linda.... we're waiting anxiously for an update on Mel! Hibernation is a GREAT idea!! I love those Wheat Thin Flatbreads. I often have two of them in the evening with a little FF cream cheese. Tracy is going to be depressed this weekend.... high winds are forecast for the Pacific NW and 3-5 inches of rain!!!:frown::thumbup::frown::tongue: I've been exercising hard every morning.. in the pool... I say "HARD" because I'm working when everyone else is talking!! LOL! Except Earl... he does all the exercises, too. And I double time most of them. Not bragging... but.. just to make a point... my hip is hurting again and then Earl says... you're not exercising enough!! YES, I AM!! But it hurts anyway! Tried to walk the dog today after lunch. Well, to begin with.. she refused to walk. Planted her feet and refused to move and then sprawled on the asphalt and was going to stay there and sun herself! But I couldn't have walked anyway... left hip hurt too much. I'm going to call that doctor's office AGAIN!!! Neighbor told me doctors there are great buy staff is awful and NEVER return your phone calls!! Surely they have received the FAX with the x-ray report by now!!!

So very sorry about your friend's death. That's so awful! Too young to die! Will pray for wife and family! Glad Mel had his biopsy! Keep us posted! You know his bark is worse than his bite!! I'm ready to go to the outlet mall or that other place you like any time you say the word..... "shopping", that is! LOL What wet wipes do you use?? I buy Cottonelle and they don't do that to you! Glad the hip is something temporary! Mine is bugging me again. I have been trying to get an appt w/spine clinic for 2 weeks!! Went there again today and took them DVD with my x-rays from March on it. Now she says she needs the report!! Give me a break!! It's the same hospital system.... Eisenhower! You would think the could get it off the freakin' computer! I have called there repeatedly and today was my 2nd time to go over there in person and I still don't have an appt!! Sorry for your struggles!! What more can I say! Didn't I confess about popping Papaya the last two nights!! None tonight!! And I'm afraid of them now because I think they might have contributed to my problems last spring!!

So sorry for the pain you're suffering in the loss of this child. It is such a sad thing! It was a pleasure to get to know you a little better... wish we'd had more time together! It was a busy weekend! And, I might add... you are a GREAT dancer! Enjoyed watching you and Jodi dance. Last time I saw a Jason's Deli was when we were living in Oklahoma. Always enjoyed their salad bar. Yep! It doesn't work! Just played throw the toys with Zoey and now she's sprawled exhausted across the hall leading to the bedroom.. waitng for Earl to take her to bed... but she's a little early!!! LOL! Tired herself out! I got myfinger in the way once.. my fault.. but, tooth nicked me a little! She didn't want to stay at the dog park tonight... too cold and windy! Stupid hip started hurting me again yesterday. Not too bad. Just letting me know all is not well yet! Still trying to get appt w/spine clinic!! Feel like they are stalling me. Latest is they need me to call the urgent care clinic I went to in March and ask them to release the x-rays! UGH! Mom & Uncle, her significant other, moving in to assisted living tomorrow. My sisters are maxed out! Uncle Ed being his usual Jerky self. Keeps teling my Mom... " we have to learn to live simple!" And every time someone turns their back he is taking a box of who knows what to the dumpster! GRRRR!! Give it to the kids!! Don't throw things away! They don't have that kind of junk! And he was trying to throw away linins, like towels and wash cloths... and they have to provide their own! And canned goods, Cereal, etc. Even though their meals will be provided, they are encouraged to have some stuff like that in their kitchen in case they don't feel like going down for a meal! I'm glad I'm not there! I would definitely be fighting with him because he is so stubborn and opinionated and I can't keep my mouth shut when he is being obnoxious!

Yep... Cosmo. Thank you!! I had two there and they were very good. That is so sweet of you to send your photos! Will be looking forward to getting them! I just don't have any that are that great! Although there is a really nice one of you! I usually take a lot more with my Canon camera, but I just kept pulling out my cell phone! Didn't you say it was 43 in CK today!??? That's too cold for ME to ride in a convertible with the top down! It was 60 degrees here this morning, and very windy! And I couldn't make it all the way through Water aerobics! When they were doing one of those face the side of the pool exercises and Earl's back was to me... I high-tailed it out of there!! HAHAHA!! I headed for the hottest hot tub! You better get Gizmo some doggie dental insurance!! People dental cleaning doesn't cost THAT much!! LOL. I shudder to think what it might cost to get Zoey's hair lip fixed!! I think at least once a day she starts this kind of choking or spasms of some kind.. and we think it's from drinking her water too fast. I think it goes up her nose because of that opening. Here I am! Yesterday was so busy I never got on. Seems like in the evening all I can handle is watching TV while playing solitaire on the computer! Yes, they both missed me... Earl called SEVERAL times a day and every time I had to talk to Zoey! Then she would bark at the phone and bring balls for me to throw! And when we got back she was all over both Janet and I! Earl said she sat in my place on the couch all weekend. And when he took her outside on her leash she would drag him to various park models/RVs in the neighborhood.. trying to find me. Any more gigs in your future, Candice?? Ever since Janet and I stopped for breakfast on the way home, I've been tight... Got stuck on pancakes... I knew better! First problems I've had since my unfill/refill last spring. Better today, but still feeling tight. Way too much Papaya last two nights. I can't touch that stuff without overdoing it! I put it back in the pantry last night. I can't have it within reach. Once I open the top, just keep reaching for more! Taking dinner in stages tonight. Earl made some salad... chopped tomatoes, celery, onion, carrots, bell pepper, cucumber in vinegar, water, art. sweetener, and a little sesame dressing. So I"m having a small bowl of that now. Dinner later.

Not me this time! LOL Your pics are really good. I saved them all to my computer. Might add them to my FB Vegas album if you don't mind. Since I got my new phone, I keep taking pictures with it and neglecting my camera.. which has a lot more options and takes better pictures! Just too lazy to get the camera out because it's always in my purse or pocket! Goodness!! Another thing to deal with/worry about!! Hope they figure out what is wrong in a hurry. You definitely get a free pass on the cheetos!! Must be the weather! I'm dragging butt for two days now! Exhausted by 10 pm last night! I always stay up considerably later than that, but couldn't make it past 10:30 pm! Earl is definitely much worse than I am about taking the dog everywhere! He goes to the park rest rooms for certain duties... he just took her with him to do his business!! Give me a break!! On the scooter, too! Another afternoon wiled away doing nothing!! Neighbor, Joy, came over to visit and now it's almost 5 pm! Oh, well. She is lonely. I'd been trying to call her earlier and was going to se if she wanted to go to lunch. But she was on the phone fora LONG time so I gave up and made my self some Healthy Choice soup.

I finally went back and edited my post from yesterday morning but now you have to go back a page to read it!! We DID have a blast and you would've LOVED it! No one rode the BULL, but we did SHOOT some BULL!! :crying::biggrin::sad: I didn't even SEE the BULL, but they probably had one! I tried to order a Long Island Iced Tea but was strongly advised not do to it!! LOL! Yes, I probably would have fallen off the stool! I didn't win any money but I didn't lose too much either. Whenever I got really far behind, Arlene pointed me to a different machine... or gave me hers, and I recouped most of my losses!! :tongue2: Darn.. too bad I missed the pic of the spanx!! Probably had too much wine by then to pick up the camera! Yeah... she WAS in much earlier than I thought. I kept thinking I heard her, and then I didn't, but that's because she kept getting up and going back to bed... leg cramps. So glad to hear you are feeling better! I won't be getting weighed until Thursday. Hope I did okay!! I didn't take many pictures with my camera either, and many that I took with my phone didn't turn out that well. But someone talked about putting all their pictures on a CD. I was thinking maybe we could consolidate everyone's pics and put them on one CD. I might look in to uploading mine to the costco photo site... maybe I can figure out how we could get them all uploaded in one place and then order CDs. Your pictures are GREAT... I copied them to my folder on my computer, but don't know what quality they download as... will check and see if they look okay on my computer. Yes.... GREAT to meet everyone and spend some time getting to know each other! It was wonderful! Excellent synopsis of things we talked about! Was so good to meet you, Sis!! Thanks for steering me away from the Long Island Iced Tea..... I think!! LOL! That was a Cosmo I toasted with, wasn't it??

DARN!! I just lookd at the clock and I have to go to the pool or be late for Water aerobics!! Have to finish this later!!! ************* Goodness! I didn't mean THAT much later! I don't know what happened to yesterday! Pool, hot tub, lunch, Walmart, costco, wine on the patio w/German neighbors, dinner, dog park, and I guess I just wasted the rest of the day watching TV and playing Mah Jongg on the computer!! So here it is morning again! Glad you had a good trip home! Yes, it's always so NICE to be home! So you got your popsicles!! I think it might be cool enough this week for me to get some of my Skinny Cow Truffles home in a semi solid state!! How could I not tell him about one of the highlights of my trip!! LOL! Did you get to taste the White chocolate yet??? A cruise would be fun, but I can't do that in April because we're planning to go to Cabo w/DD & SIL. But... cruising w/o my husband.. not sure I would. And think about this ladies... price for a cabin by yourself is very high. And sharing a cabin.. will not be the same as sharing a condo! It will be a lot of togetherness! I probably can't do anything in April, but Branson or Chicago would be fun. I LOVE Branson! So sorry to hear about that tragic accident! That's awful! Yes... Happy Retirement to Eva! She is off and running by now, I'm sure! Off to Argentina! Hope they have a wonderful time! Can't wait to hear all about it! Glad you had a good trip home and enjoyable seat-mate! Janet and I stopped a little bit up the freeway for Breakfast and I made a bad decision to have pancakes with my ham and eggs! I don't tolerate pancakes well and I KNOW that! But Earl wasn't there so I thought I'd be bad! So I was stuck the rest of the day and have been tight ever since!

Arlene and Eva... glad you had good trip home. We had a few rain drops here and there, and a short-lived problem with the car right after we filled up. It started kind of choking and stalled several times. Think there was an air bubble or something in the gas tank. We stopped for Breakfast 20-30 miles down the freeway and after all the stuff I ate this weekend... I got stuck on pancakes! I should have known better. Have more trouble with pancakes than with bread! Glad Andrew was cleaning up for you! He is a keeper!! Yeah... and now Earl says I can't ride with you anymore!! LOL!!

So far no one has won a million dollars. I told Janet this morning that she is grounded for the rest of the weekend for breaking curfew and I am now in charge!! :smile2: But.... she came back with 2nd group, she thinks around 2 a.m. Country western place was fun but too loud... couldn't hear ourselves to talk!

JANET BROKE CURFEW LAST NIGHT.... ! SHE IS GROUNDED THE REST OF THE WEEKEND SO I AM APPOINTING MYSELF IN CHARGE!! SOME OF US TOOK A CAB BACK TO THE CONDOS AT MIDNIGHT. :smile2::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: Drive over here was great! Janet took the "back" way through 29 Palms, for anyone familiar with the area, and we were here in 4 hours... 250 miles from when she picked me up. Everyone was here by about 2pm, I think. Most of us got here around 12:30-1:00 pm. Five met at the airport, Jodi was already here, Linda was already here, Eva, Janet and I all arrived by car about the same time as the gals got here from the airport. Only snafu was that Janet and I couldn't get in our room until almost 6pm which was pretty annoying. We think they had to clean the carpet and were probably wanting to give it a few hours to dry... my theory, anyways because someone noticed it was wet in one area. LOL! How did that work for you!??? And the dog??? I've talked to DH several times since we got here, speaking of DOGS, and he keeps putting me on speaker phone so the dog can hear me. So then she goes and gets her little red football and brings it to the phone and starts barking for me to throw it!! HAHA!! Jewel, you're really doing great! With school, weight loss, etc! Hope Jacob continues to do well with his new meds! Great job on the running! Great job on the running! Janet is up... said she got home around 1:30-2:00 pm! But, then she was up all night with leg cramps! Chris.... eating out is tough, but it can be done.... salad, carry your own dressing. You can get by with Protein drinks, kashi GoLean Bars, etc. in a pinch. Soup in a thermos, etc. WELCOME!! We're here to help you through it, Chris! Congrats to Nels!! And to you on your first day of work! Sorry about the quality of the pics! I brought 3 cameras with me, actually... my phone camera, my Kodak HD movie/still camera and my Canon digital. But once in the limo I discovered the Kodak doesn't have a flash, or at least I didn't find one! I need to work with that camera some more to get familiar with it. I think the phone camera has a flash, but again, the phone is new and I'm still learning! And the digital was back in my room! The other gals will have better photos! And today I will make sure I have the digital with me.

Congrats on the weight!! NO... she didn't buy the 12's, Janet! But she needs to go back and get the 10's! And you need to go somewhere to get a good bra fitting! Candice posted a site that explained how to measure, didn't she???? Where are you Candice?? Earl is much better today. He went to Walmart with me when I got my nails done. He dropped me off at SBX and he went to Costco. Zoey and I went from SBX to Walmart nail place. He finished at Costco and came over to Walmart, did a little more shopping and then just waited for me.

LOL! I guess I shouldn't pull rank! Just don't want to aggravate my back! It's doing so good right now. Since it's going to be a 14 passenger limo, maybe it's one of those bus types. I'll manage, whatever! I did fine on the wine tour! Especially after the first couple of wineries! LOL Yeah, the gal I talked to said I didn't need to bring the shot/vac records! There was a man in a wheelchair parked near us at Walmart todayy and he asked to see the dog. Of course, she was all over him and he loved it... even let her kiss him on the lips! He was a 50ish guy... very nice. I am excited about the possibility of using the dog this way! And, I did a little internet research and found a site that said that currently, if you are officially "disabled", you can claim your dog as a "service dog" even if it is just for "emotional support"! So... I took my "service dog" to Walmart with me when I had my nails done today! When it was my turn to get in the pedi chair, I put her in her little red bag and the girl told me to put it next to the chair where she was going to do my mani! And everyone at Starbucks just smiled! I ordered service dog tags and patches! Oh yes!! He was even mad at ME last night because HE couldn't fix dinner! I headed for our restaurant to get take out, but, alas, they close at 3 pm until our season is in full swing. So I opened some cans of soup! Somewhat handicapped as to how much cooking we can do when we're trying to run two air conditioners anyway! We were both happy with soup! And he is SO much better today!! Only time today he got mad at me today was this morning when I told him about a golf cart one of the neighbors has for sale!! OH, me! Had to listen to a tirade about how much maintenance that would entail and it needs new batteries, yada, yada, yada! Then he left for Water aerobics and slammed the door at me! Good grief! But, he's been in a good mood since then!:rolleyes2: Got my nails done today... mani/pedi... turquoise w/GLITTER!! I have arthritis in my toes and the 2nd toe crosses over the top of my big toe... so I brought separators with me. But, they didn't help much. Poor girl had to do left big toe THREE TIMES, and right one twice!! Then we let them get real dry, but I still have a small smudge on each!! Palm Springs street fair tomorrow night... maybe I can find a cowboy hat!! LOL Turquoise??? or RED! Janet says it's not Garth. But... I've been out of touch for a couple of hours because of my trip to Walmart, so maybe she's updated the info since then.
