A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
phyllser replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I see from one of your earlier posts that you are in Bellingham & not Everett. Sorry! My mistake. Anyway, we're still sort of neighbors!! I wish I could've found a doctor in Everett who would take Medicare! Oh, well! I have to go to Federal Way for clinic appointments and having my surgery in Seattle on Friday. -
Lynette: Phyl, I still se those little boxes with the red X in them for your pics, wonder why I can't open them?? Maybe it's your browser settings that won't let you see the pictures? I don't know?

Good luck to you with your consultation. We are neighbors as I also live in Everett, near Lake Stevens. My surgery is this Friday but I've been seeing a Dr. in Fed Way because I had difficulty finding one who would take Medicare. My surgery will be at Virginia Mason in Seattle. -

Hi, Dini, Spent the weekend in Whistler,B.C. with our daughter & her husband. We had a great time, but I ate too much and gained a couple of pounds. My DH was watching over my shoulder all weekend. Every bite I put in my mouth of ANYTHING I shouldn't have got dirty looks! And this morning we're getting ready to go to a picnic!! OH NO!! More food. I will have to stick to salad. It took me all last night to catch up on all the posts from the weekend. I just caught up and now we're leaving again for most of the day!! Good to catch up on everyone, though, and best of luck to all those getting banded today! Later, when I have time to resize, I'll post a photo from the weekend.

Don't forget, I'm your Auntie Phyl!!

I was just scanning back & noticed we have several nurses! I wanted to say one more thing, Christy. I was an LPN for 10 years before I went back to school (with four kids!!) to get my RN. Its hard work but well worth it. Congrats to you for doing that!! My neice just did that, too & she has FIVE kids including two newly adopted while she was going to school!!

Hi, Christy, Introductions... a good idea. I'm a retired RN, 63 yrs old, married to Earl for almost 43 yrs. Originally from Buffalo NY but DH was career AF so we moved a lot for 20 yrs & then settled in Seattle...for a while, then 15 yrs in Oklahoma (DH worked for Boeing after AF & they transferred us to OK) & now retired & just moved back to Pacific NW to be close to where the kids settled down. We have 4 kids in their 30's. Youngest boy is still in OK. Two girls here in this area & one boy is Navy Cmdr stationed near San Francisco. We have 10 grandchildren ages 1 1/2 - 18yrs. We are RVers, so we go SOUTH in the winter, to Desert Hot Springs CA, near where IndioGirl lives!! That's where I attended my WLS seminar last winter. Then when we got settled here in our new condo, I found Dr here to do my surgery. Had the last of my pre-op appts. this week and one week from today is my surgery date. Dini: We missed you yesterday. Sorry to hear your brother is being such a jerk! And hope your pooper starts working!! See... I didn't write anything down so now I can't remember who else I wanted to "talk" to. Oh, well. Lynette, you are so good at keeping everyone straight. I get all mixed up sometimes!! Oh, chimboree, hope your UTI is all cleared up by now! Felicia, sounds like you are doing great!! And Peaches, as well. Big Wave Dave was in the chat room just before I got there last night. I didn't get to chat with him because everyone was gone, but I guess he must be back home and maybe we'll hear from him today. We are patiently waiting for our daughter & her husband to get here so we can leave for Canada. We're going to Whistler, which is a winter time ski resort, summertime play! We've never been there but they have. Grandkids were supposed to go with them but both had to work so we get to go instead!! We're excited and DH is pacing waiting for them to get here!! Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend! Looking forward to reading more good reports when we get back on Sunday! :canada:

Everyone must have gone to bed early tonight. No one here, no one in the chat room!! Big Wave Dave had been in just before I got there so he must be back home.

Hi, Cherea, Glad to hear you are doing so well. I am so excited for next week to come! I just went out to Albertson's & got a pack of RubberMaid 4 oz containers with lids. I'm going to make up some broth, etc. ahead of time & have them in the freezer ready to heat up. I also bought 20 small Fat Free Yogurts. I'm getting ready!! Breadlady is still among the missing. Very strange since she wa posting every day even while she was at the lake. Hope all is well. Dini hasn't been on since last night, I don't think. We're leaving in the morning for three days in Canada & I'm really going to miss my new favorite website and all of you!! :canada:

, mE, TOO ChickB!! We're on the same day! Today I got my sample Protein pack from BariatricEating.com. WOW!! It was like Christmas. It took me over an hour to look at all the stuff they sent.. all kinds of Protein samples.. powder packets, liquids, even a book with lots of recipes. There was a plastic shaker thingy for mixing protein drinks, etc. on the go, and it all came in a big heavy see-through vinyl bag. :whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo:

Hey! How about a cruise to Alaska?? You can get one out of Seattle for next summer for around $600-700. We've done it twice but I'd go again. Its beautiful.
-
Thanks, Cherea! I got it. That's great!! Very inspiring!!

Platform shoes!! Great idea!! Especially since they measured me 1/2 inch shorter yesterday than two months ago!!! Did I have that much fat on top of my head??? Maybe on the soles of my feet??? anyway..... we're cruisin'!!

NO WAY, Lainy..... NOT PERSONAL! Jump in and join us! Someone suggested a "Bandaversary" Cruise for next year & it just sort of took off from there. We all need something to get excited about!
-
Yeah, a good kick out the door!! No hope of change??? You deserve better!

We've cruised on Norwegian once, Royal Carribean once, Celebrity twice and another out of Canada or somewhere.. Sun cruises or something. Anyway, keep in mind August will be very hot in places like the Carribean.

Phyllser, I see you resized Felicia's picture. It comes up as this little box with the red x in it. Why can't I ever open these? I've treid, it's just something my computer won't allow me to open up. What do you think I need on my computer to open them? Hi, It did that to me once last night but now its fine. Try closing your browser and opening it again.

Hi, I thought I'd relate a few of my experiences at my pre-op day today! I saw a nurse anesthetist first. That went well. She was very thorough in going over my medical records, asked a lot of questions, explained the anesthesia process in pretty good detail. Then we went to Panera bread for lunch. They serve certain Soups on certain days and I lucked out because they were serving my favorite vegetarian garden vegetable.. 90 calories a bowl. And I had a half turkey sandwich. Not bad for calories for eating out. When we went back to see the surgeon, he decided he wanted me to have an upper g.i. so they sent me to radiology right away. That wasn't too bad until they made me lie flat on that cold, hard xray table and THEN... turn over on my stomach! I hated that! It was uncomfortable and I was afraid I was going to fall off the table.. its so narrow! They did find a hiatal hernia, but the doctor said it is small enough that he doesn't think he'll have to fix it. He is a little concerned about some abnormal "motility" in my esophagus. Hmmmm... all in all it wasn't a bad day and I was so nervous. He was very pleased with my weight loss. One thing that made me REALLY MAD... this time when they measured me they said I was 4' 11 1/2 "!! Give me a break!! I'm happy to lose inches, but NOT IN THAT DIRECTION!! What's up with that??? So I have a FAT HEAD and I lost 1/2 inch in height!! No way!! Do you know what that did to my BMI??? Bumped it back up over 60 and I was so thrilled when it went to 59.6!! Bummer! :omg::omg::confused::omg::confused::omg::confused::omg::faint:

I think I did it. let's ssee>>?? I sharpened it a little, too.

Yes! That was the one. He joked about being beat up by a girl the entire concert. From what I understand he fell asleep, with his legs stretched in front of him, and just happened to be TOUCHING her armrest (They make it sound like he was kicked back with his foot up on top of it), she asked him to move (him being asleep, didn't hear), and he apparently woke up to this woman beating on him... I really don't think he is at all the diva the media makes him out to be. It was one of the most intimate concerts I'd ever been to, and I really felt like he cared about his fans, and he wasn't just there to perform, he was there to perform FOR us. And he openly communicated with the audience the entire show. (The Brady Theater in Tulsa is not a very big venue) I've never been to the Brady Theater... or to a Clay concert, but I think I have all his albums & enjoy his music. Best of luck with your surgery... tomorrow, right? Will be praying for you. ~*Ash*~
