Can you have soups? That really helped me through the liquid phase. Blended soups, some creamed soups, in my Magic Bullet. Sometimes added unflavored protein. I'm on "mushies" now and still using the Bullet for all my meals.
  2. I'm still in the "mushy" stage and I'm amazed at what I can puree in to baaby food consistency.... and it still tastes pretty good. This weekend I had salmon/mashed potatoes/green beans and the same combo with a few chunks of BBQ ribs instead of the salmon. Put it in my Magic Bullet and add a little BBQ sauce and/or milk. Eating 1/2 cup servings 4-6 X a day.

My doctor says 1/2 cup 6X a day. That much fills me up. In fact, at noon today I couldn't finish the last of it-- probably saved about 1/3 of it for later. And almost never get in all six "feedings". I've had four today and will probably have just one more. I'm averaging just under 500 calories a day, 45-50 gm protein. I started mushies last Friday. I'm pureeing everything into baby food consistency with my Magic Bullet.

Oh, my!! That sounds good, too. I bet I could eat that if I put it in my Magic Bullet!! DH made Impossible Quiche today and that blended nicely. Tonight I made baby food out of a couple small pieces of BBQ ribs, spoon full of mashed potatoes and a spoon full of canned green beans, french style. Used a little of the BBQ sauce for liquid. Blended up nicely and came to just 1/2 cup. It was yummy. They were leftovers donated by our daughter. I'm liking this mushy phase!!

Yeah! Good thing there's an Albertson's across the street. May have to persuade my DH that he needs to go for a walk!!

Yes, on my list if diluted with lots of milk. Drinkable consistency. Mushies for me today!! I had scrambled eggs for breakfast.

My doctor says two weeks full liquids, then "mushies" for two weeks. I've been eating cream soups, cream of wheat and protein drinks. I have a bunch of yogurt in the refrigerator, but for some reason it just hasn't appealed to me so far. Marcy: Something good must be happening because my daughter pulled my jeans off....without the zipper or button being undone! LOL! She didn't even pull hard! Yesterday I wore a pair of pants that were a little baggy to begin with. Now, 30 lb. later they are really baggy! I slipped my cell phone in to one of the pockets and the weight of the phone sent the pants sliding south!! Good thing I was at home!!
  8. I don't have a card, but we went to a Mexican restaurant tonight and I just quiety explained to the waitress that I'd had surgery and couldn't eat much so could I order off the chidren's menu. She said I could so I ordered a kids beef enchilada meal. It worked great. The beef was finely ground hambuger; I scraped the meat mixture out of the tortilla, which I then moved to another plate to avoid temptation. Then I mixed the meat with the refried beans and enchilada sauce, poured a little salsa on top and mixed it all up. I start mushies tomorrow, so I made it as runny as I could. Then I noticed that the now empty salsa bowl looked to be about 1/2 cup so I filled it up with my concotion and got a to go box for the rest... which turned out to be exactly another 1/2 cup! Two meals for $4.25 ..... and it was most enjoyable!! :hungry:

    Any one in NW WA

    Just sent you a PM.
  13. Thanks so much for clarifying your remarks. I understand what you are saying and must agree that I have experienced some of the same reactions to my appearance that you have. In fact, I actually chased down a guy with my scooter, in a Palm Springs Wal-Mart last winter because he made some very loud, very insulting comments to me as he walked past me with his young son. Picture that!! I don't remember what I said to him when I caught up with him, but I chewed him out pretty good for making distasteful and judgemental comments, especially in the presence of his little boy. So, yes, I relate. Sorry I came on so strong. I misinterpreted what you were saying, and I overreacted, as well. I was feeling really lousy that night and should have let it pass. Or maybe not, because I think what you've shared about your feelings are worth saying and things a lot of us feel!

  16. Janet, Praying you get a good report back from thhat biopsy! We're going to have to come up with a good come back for that lady who wants to know how much you've lost each day!! I have not been careful at all about who I've told about my surgery and that is the one problem with that.. You feel like everyone is watching to see if you're being successful and then you have those who want to keep asking that question..... how much have you lost now???? My Mom, for one! She's 85. I cut her some slack!

Hi, Where did you find the rasberry syrup? My sample bottle isn't going to last much longer and so far I can't find the raspberry anywhere.
  18. Excuse me??? I'm not embarrassed about having to use a scooter, thank you very much!! Over 30 years of floor nursing took its toll on my knees. I'm well aware my excess weight was a contributing factor, but so is arthritis. My scooter gives me freedom and independence I didn't have without it. I'm hoping my weight loss will enable me to increase my walking, but I don't expect it will allow me to completely give up my scooter. I'd have to regenerate some cartilege for that to happen. And, yeah, your comment kinda ticked me off. I found it condescending and insulting.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :happybday2: :happybday:
  20. Thanks to both of you for sharing your encouraging testimonies. I am one week postop. Highst weight 328, started preop diet at 326.6, 5 ft tall. Similar knee problems. Bought a handicap scooter about 5 years ago. Very little exercise except in winter when we go to CA and stay at an RV park with pools and I do water aerobics every morning. I'm going to make this work.
  21. You're doing great!! My DH is measuring everything and I'm stayng out of the kitchen for now, so 1/2 cup is what I get! One more week of liquids!! Still coughing and I may have to concede that I have a cold. Feel fine though.
  22. :funnypost: :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh Yeah, you ARE DEFINITELY a writer. Congrats!! You're on your way!!

CELESTE, Call your provider and see if you can get a different type of mask. I had one probably like you have for a year. I asked for something differen and they brought me a nasal pillow mask. Much more comfortable to wear! Hope you can see the photo.

I'm just using the tylenol now. A dose at bedtime last night got me to about 4 a.m. when the coughing woke me up. I may have a cold. But I feel much better than yesterday. Soreness on the left side is less today. Steri Strips are off three of the six incisions. All are healing nicely.
