Congrats, Kiddo!! You're going to beat all of us Thanksgiving Challenge people!! You're doing great. Good news on the BMI, too. I started at 63.5 and I was so delighted to get it under 60 before surgery.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

You'll feel better in no time. Just relax and rest. Take your pain meds or some liquid Tylenol and give yourself some time. God Bless. -
All I can tell you is that I was told they would pay and they have paid on ALL of my bills related to the surgery including one that Medicare denied. I need to make it clear that my primary insurance is Medicare/disability. I was told Medicare/Tricare would not pay for the dietary consults and the other day I was told by the clinic I go to that they may not pay for the fills under fluroscopy. But so far they HAVE paid both dietary consults and the first two fills I had done under fluoroscopy. I had another on Monday, so, of course, that claim has not yet hit the system. But I do believe that Tricare's position on LapBand coverage has changed.

Welcome, Todd! It sounds like you've really done your homework on this. I pray you will be able to relax and cruise through this! It's not a difficult surgery and I'm a lot older than you. My surgery was 7/20/07. I started a pre-op diet in early June and since then I'm down 47 lb. I've had three "fills", the 3rd yesterday and I feel I have pretty good restriction at this point. I'm very pleased with how things are going and I'd do this again in a heartbeat! I just wish something like this had been available when I was your age!! There have been some sacrifices.. I had to give up my Diet Coke and carbonated beverages, but nothing I can't live with. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to and certainly no need to apologize. We're here to support one another! God Bless!

Mine holds 10cc. There's 4cc in it now. You're in OR, aren't you? I see you had your surgery in Coos Bay. We're in WA state. Stopping at Myrtle Point to see my sister this weekend. -
:welcomeB: Hi, there and Welcome!! We're glad to have you join us. The challenge.. one of the ladies mentioned challenging herself to lose 10 lb. by Thanksgiving. I decided to join her and it grew from there so that now I think there are 21 of us in on the 10 lb. loss by Thanksgiving. I'm trying hard to keep the numbers straight so you'll see me posting updates fairly often. I think after today I'll try just updating it on Mondays from now until Thanksgiving... unless someone wants to join in. I was banded one week before you. Do you have to go back to MX for your fills? I had my 3rd today, and my last for a while because we are heading south for the winter on thursday.

Ah, yes... TRANSFER ADDICTIONS!! I've heard this theory ad nauseum!! My DD's sister-in-law who had bypass 2 yrs ago was the first. She told me I HAD to give up wine completely because it would dump straight in to my blood stream in 17 seconds and I would become an alcoholic!! I was already addicted to my laptop BEFORE I had surgery! BTW, I have ONE 3-5 oz glass of wine almost every afternoon----- does that make me an alcoholic yet???? And, NO LADIES... I don't think we get to pick our addiction.. well, maybe if you really work at it. I myself prefer RETAIL THERAPY to alcohol anyway!! :cocktail:  Hey, I had my 3rd fill today. Interesting! They sure have a hard time finding my port, even with fluoroscopy. Today the Nurse Practitioner started, with the Doc looking over her shoulder coaching her. I was confident in her because I know she used to do them BEFORE they started using fluoroscopy. But, once she finally got in, she was feeling resistance and having trouble withdrawing the fluid that was in there. So, the doctor put on gloves and took over. He had no trouble-- repositioned the needle slightly and was able to withdraw 3.2cc. Now, THAT'S what I found interesting because last time he could only get back 2cc of the 3cc he'd put in. So he put the 2cc back in and 1cc more. So today he got back 3.2cc... you do the math. It doesn't computer! Oh, well. Guess I won't worry about it. He put in another 1cc, so that makes 4cc ... or 4.2cc??? You pick. So, now we go snowbirding for five months before I see him again! Wish me luck! :bored Okay, You've heard enough from me for now!! -

You're absolutely right. I spend way too much time on the computer. DH and I both have laptops and have a wireless network set up. So we sit in front of the TV with our laptops way too much. I hate to think of how many hours per day. A couple of hours in the morning. Then after lunch, if the weather is decent, I try to go out for a ride on my scooter around the neighborhood every day. But, then I'm back on the computer again! I have so many great books I want to be reading, magazines stacking up, I keep telling myself I need to get up and play my piano once in a while. but here i am! I defintely need to change this bad habit! It'll be better when we leave for the winter later this week. There are lots of things to do at the RV park where we stay and I'll be doing water aerobics every morning. But, glad you brought that up because it's a serious problem for me! -

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Indio made a comment about "Transfer Addictions" a couple of days ago. I found out what mine is when the site was down yesterday. I was having a "woe is me" day already and then to make matters worse, I couldn't get on LapTalk ALL day long! I didn't know what to do with myself! Although I did make some progress continuing the process of sorting through my clothes. We're doing our "Snowbird" thing in a couple of days so I'm trying not to take clothes that are already baggy on me. But I'm finding I'm really attached to some of those things! Having to let go!<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig --> -

Is anyone else having trouble getting on to this website?? Seems like it was down all day yesterday and I'm not finding any posts from yesterday either. I've been gone most of the day today, but still having problems getting here intermittently. Wonder if they've been working on it or something. -
Sorry! This is getting to be a real challenge!! How about everyone message me...pm or here... your current weight, every Monday and I can update everyone of our progress.
