Sorry to hear about your DH layoff!! That's a bummer!! I had a tough food episode today... DH fixed me a 1/2 mug of pea soup for lunch. I was talking on the phone to DIL and only half paying attention. He decided the soup wasn't enough and heated up a leftover chicken thigh for me. So when I got off the phone I decided to eat the chicken first. I don't know if I ate it too fast or what, but I thought I was going to die for about an hour. I think I chewed up about 6 papaya tablets trying to get it to go down. It was the closest I've come to PBing. Just a little old chicken thigh, no skin or anything. So the pea soup sat!

I've been thinking the same thing... is there a way to change the name of a thread or do you just have to start a new one?? It'd be easier to find with a name change.

Well, unfortunately I had to switch to a night time weigh in this week (TOPS), so I had a gain! Boo Hoo!! Hope next week will be better. A new TOPS group started up at our RV park so we don't have to travel up the road now. But, it meets at night!! If you want to come down and warm up, don't go to Florida!! We're in the Palm Springs area...... CALIFORNIA!! And it hasn't been a GREAT winter so far. We just had a week of wonderful weather and then came yesterday!! Our Valentine's plans had to be revised because they included going to the Palm Springs Thursday night street fair and it was TOO COLD to walk around outside! It even snowed in Palm Springs yesterday!! I think it's a little warmer today and the wind isn't howling like it was yesterday. So we are getting ready to go to the pool for Water aerobics! We chickened out yesterday!

Sounds great, Kevin! I'd probably add some sauteed chopped celery and onion. Hmmmm, you could add a little shredded crab.... canned, maybe. I wanted to ask... 150 calories for how many?? Thanks

HI, Busy day... just catching up with posts. And been avoiding posting too much today. Paper cut on the tip of a finger last night so it's hard to type and I have to keep going back to correct my mistakes!! Tried no bandaid... hurt too much. with Bandaid... mistakes!! Ugh! Amazing how a little paper cut has so much control!! Thanks, Karri for that great explanation of calories/fat burned! Very easy to understand. I copy/pasted it to an email and sent it to a few bandster friends not on this board. Hope that's okay. I remember all the goals... I don't think I posted any. Now I wish I would have!! I intentionally don't have any shoes that tie, so THAT wouldn't have been on my list. Only slip on shoes!! I probably have a couple of pairs of tennis shoes with ties at home, but not in the RV. One thing that would have been on the list... to be able to drive the car without the steering wheel up against my belly and my thighs! Accomplished! But I'm afraid as I'm shrinking I may have to sit on a phone book soon, so I can see over the steering wheel! Another... nice to be able to get out of bed and walk the 5-6 steps to the bathroom during the night without getting out of breath. Heck, I used to get out of breath turning over in bed at night. See... all those things I was thinking of listing were just too embarrassing to talk about!!

Congrats, Karen!! Sounds like you're doing really great!! Let us know what the surgeon says tomorrow.

WELCOME!! So have you already had your surgery?? Tell us some more about yourself. Glad to have you here. Why did you stay quiet for so long???

Now Now! I had just fallen down and almost killed myself. DH wouldn't cook if I had broken both arms and legs. He ordered pizza and there were no veggies on it. I asked for a can of beans and he gave me the "Uh, those would be in the cupboard? Do you want them warmed up? How long? Do I use a cereal bowl?" And I gave up and told him I'd have pizza. I have helpless men!!! I'm married to one of the biggest. I didn't have any fresh in the house or I would have eaten them and it hurt to badly to go into the kitchen in the light. I drank extra v8 juice though....does that count? Sheesh...I feel like my mom just caught me in the frosting container. I didn't eat the candy little guy brought home from daycare. I didn't eat a bunch of cake that neighbor gave me..... What is my punishment? I'm a big girl. I'll take it. But no extra exercise...I can't even walk today without pain. I'm taking it easy. However, I stepped on the scale today and it's down a couple of pounds....so I'm positive in that direction. Have a great love day all. I'll talk to you all later. V8 juice should qualify!! :cursing: You probably have a concussion. Should see a doctor!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi, Roxy, I'm a nurse also, retired. My starting weight was close to yours. I am definitely more mobile with the weight I've lost even though I have lots more to lose. I have knee problems...one partial replacement, the other needs one! So sorry about your back problems. My youngest sister, also a nurse, is working, too, with similar back problems, so I know how miserable that can be. I think that Dr. Janet is talking about is in Denver.. Kirshman. But there are many who rave about the care they've gotten in Mexico. Dr. Kuri is one name that comes to mind. He is in Seattle this weekend attending the "Seattle Splash" bandster bash. He's going to be one of the speakers and they've planned time for him to meet with his patients. Also, most doctors offer some sort of financing or help you find it. -
That's great news, Cerrin!! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, EVERYONE!!
-
You have been working very hard! Almost 7 months out and your first plateau!! That's pretty good! From what I've heard, the closer you get to your goal weight, the tougher it is. Next week will be better!!

Have you tried starting with some warm liquid?? Warm/hot water, coffee, tea?? I've heard that helps.

Sounds like it's a good idea for you to just "chill" tonight! My aunt is still in ICU, but my uncle says she was sitting up in a chair talking today, so that's good. My Mom & sister are going to see her tomorrow. My sister is a bulldog, so she should have a better update for me tomorrow. She's a nurse also, so she gleans whatever information she can get by looking over shoulders or whatever! I'm pretty bummed tonight! TOPS weigh in did me in!! I knew I'd probably have a gain because of transitioning from our usual morning weigh in to an evening weigh in, but it was worse than I thought it would be!! I almost wiped out that good loss I had last week! Maybe I'm retaining some Fluid because of the hot weather this week. But, it's pretty depressing. Then to help matters, my DH has to start telling me what it is I did wrong!!

Another good cottage cheese trick! I'll have to try that. One night last week when I wanted a snack we had some leftover spaghetti sauce in the fridge (we have it over french style green Beans instead of pasta), so I mixed some sauce with some cottage cheese & stuck it in the microwave... sort of like lasagna!! It was good! Hope you have a great time in Florida!! And a SWEET Valentine's Day with your Hubby!!

Hope you're enjoying your blizzard!! I know what you mean about the $$$$!! All that new underwear last weekend... $80+! Then I bought myself the New Balance watch this week to track my heart rate/calories (and can't figure out how to do that!!) AND... now I have my sights set on one of those fitness bells that they showed us at that support group Janet and I went to last week!! $70 includes a DVD to show you how to use it! Too bad I didn't get an instructional DVD with the watch!!

If you've been feeling tired all day you better take it easy... and you said your GS was sick. We think we had the 24 hr flu last week... we both had flu shots, so we didn't get very sick... just felt really, really tired, only lasted for about 20 minutes of water aerobics... couldn't even lift my arms, and we had some mild stomach cramps and nausea. That was it! You had flu shot, too, so maybe you've got a mild case of the flu. Better rest.

Boy!! Where is everyone???? A very quiet day here in Lucky #7 Land! Hey... my bra story started quite a discussion, didn't it?!! I can just imagine everyone trying that over the head trick!! Never thought of that one! That was a new one for me... pretty unique!! That was Steph, right?? I guess before I went to front hooks, I did the hook it in the front and turn it around thing. But when I tore my rotator cuff... don't remember why, but I couldn't even do that. My right arm was pretty useless for a while. Had to have DH hook the bra in the back until I bought the front hooks! That was not fun. I am so excited about wearing my "hearts" underwear tomorrow for Valentine's Day that my swimming pool bag is already packed for tomorrow morning! And I'm so excited that my DH actually made plans for tomorrow!! Nothing fancy, but he's got the day all planned out. I was impressed with that!! I bought myself a Valentine's present... with DH's blessing. He's not a very good shopper. He was going to go to Wal-Mart today and get something until I solved his problem!! I got this New Balance watch that tracks your heart rate, calories burned, counts laps, etc. Now if I can just figure out how to read it!! I have it all set up... you put in sex, age, weight. But I wore it to the pool this morning and I can't figure out how to do the lap counting function or the calories burned. I have read the instructions through at least twice. Guess I'll have to read it again!! I am usually pretty good with this techy stuff, but this one has me stumped. I can get it to show me my heart rate but that's about it. I even set the alarm for 7 a.m. and it didn't go off!! Back to the instruction book!! Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Phyl -- Tell me more about this cottage cheese concoction with splenda and cinnamon. Is it good? The only way I ever eat cottage cheese is plain. Other suggestions? I might have to try it. On another note, I so hope your aunt is better. I'll keep you and her in my prayers. Steph, When I was on WW I used to take a piece of toast, spread some cottage cheese on top and sprinkle with art. sweetener and cinnamon and stick it in the broiler for a short time... kind of like a low cal cheese danish. So I thought I'd add a little Splenda & cinnamon to my cottage cheese for my night time snack and it was good! Added a little bit of diced peaches... like about 1/2 of one of those little individual containers. Another WW trick... I used both of these for breakfast... was toast, a few slices of canned peaches, a little cinnamon and some cheddar cheese & put it in the broiler until the cheese melts. Haven't done that in many years, but those two were favorite breakfasts for me on WW. No update on my aunt today. She was to be in ICU for at least several days. Thanks for your prayers!

Yep, I sure agree with that. Like as I see my sizes go down I'm already freaking about where will I shop when I'm out of the Plus sizes!!??? I'm so grateful for all of you... where here for each other and that will help us through the craziness!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

1. Make healthy choices: grilled meat/fish, steamed veggies 2. Avoid places where you know there will be few healthy choices. 3. TAKE OUT BOXES!! Eat your normal "Bandster" portion and take the rest home. We have a favorite spot we like for breakfast... they have a great seafood omelet that I love. I get hash browns with it... eat just a little, eat 1/4 of the omelet because it's HUGE, then I take the rest home and have breakfast for three more mornings! -
Good Range of Motion exercise!!

Cerrin, if your doctor's office is anything like mine, you'd best not wait for THEM to call YOU!! Have you had your first post-op appointment?? If I were you, I'd call them and make an appointment for a fill. It will probably take several fills before you get to a good place... three for me, and you need to get started. You should be more than ready for your first fill! I had to be very persistent, and sometimes insistent, to get my appointments. Welcome, Olga! Glad to have you join our site!

Thanks, Peaches. I appreciate that. She's always been very close to my sisters and I... my Mom's only sister. And I'm worried about my Mom,too, because she's 86 and taking this very hard. I thought you were pretty close to Toronto. Georgian Bay... that's pretty up there.
