  1. I was sleeved 4/16. Everything was dandy until the 3rd day I came home. I got the gout attack from hell. I have had kidney problems since childhood. so gout is nothing new to me although preop it was well controlled. I knew I hadn't ate or drank anything to cause an attack. I researched it and came to find out that surgery and rapid weight loss will cause gout flare ups. Well after a trip to the ER, a shot of morphine and a script of percocets later, I felt better. I could actually walk but not long distances. My poor husband had to push me around in a wheelchair to my college classes and finals. Well I got better. Didn't need a wheelchair anymore. Then this past Friday, I woke up and couldn't move. I cant walk once again. it was back although I'm not sure it totally went away. My pcp gave me tramadol which is useless. The only thing that ever worked was Alleve and now I can't take it. Anyone else have gout problems after surgery? I've been stuffing my face with cherries because I hear that helps but no luck. I'm just wondering why my pcp didn't put me on colchicine or allopurinol. Is it safe for out sleeves?
  2. A year out yesterday! 128 lbs gone!! Never been happier or healthier! I need to post new pics! Starting weight: 295 Surgery weight: 283 Current weight: 167
  3. I need exercises for specific problem areas. 1. My bat wings (upper arms) 2. My inner thighs and 3. A fat roll under my butt! I do some cardio but mostly walking. I've tried to target these areas but to no avail. I've looked up so many online…What exercises do you guys do to help with these areas? Of course I really didn't have these flabby problems until I lost 120 pounds. The extra skin under my butt chafes sometimes and it's a pain. (Tmi I know). I don't think insurance will cover for these areas. I do know that my insurance will take care of my extra skin on my belly. Any exercise suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!
  4. I still see myself as the fat girl who was always made fun of. I can't wrap my head around it either. I've lost close to 120. I still find myself wanting to go to the plus size. I think the fat mentality will always be there - in my case.

    Before and After Pics

Holy moley - you have stunning legs )everything else looks great too, but man, those legs look so toned. Are you hitting a gym, walking a lot, or just genetically blessed I walk a lot but I always thought I had pretty legs - even when I was big. Since it's getting colder out, I'm getting a gym membership. Thanks for the compliments!
  6. I'm 8 months out today, actually. It's really weird, all the changes. I've lost almost 120 pounds. You can see my ribs, hip bone, collar bone. It's crazy. It's also weird shopping. I'm so used to going to the plus size section where I wore a 24. Now I can get into a 5. Blows my mind that I lost a person!

    Before and After Pics

I need to do a new comparison pic. This one was done in October. I've probably lost 10 or 15 more pounds since then. Surgery Date: 4/16/13 Weight: 284. My highest weight ever was 300. Current weight exactly 8 months later 169.
  8. I'm down from 284 to 169 pounds. I'm 4 from my goal weight. I went from a size 24 and can squeeze into a 5 now. My only regret is not having this done years ago. I already bought a bikini for next summer but I'll have to wait until I can get this extra skin removed. There's probably close to 30-40 pounds of skin alone. It's gross but worth it.
  9. Now down to 175. I wish I had this done years ago. Total weight loss from start of process 118 pounds gone! Surgery date 4/16/13
  10. Thank you! I feel so much better and I look like a totally different person!
  11. Starting weight 293. Surgery day weight 284. Weight today 179. This is a comparison pic. August 7th, 2011 vs October 7th, 2013. Had my surgery 4/16/13
  12. Way to go!! We're all gonna lose differently. Some faster some slower. But remember it'll all be ok. We will all benefit from this tool to help us lose what we couldn't before. I'm almost 100 pounds down since my surgery 4/16. I went from a 24 to a size 12. I haven't been that size since junior high. (18-19 years ago). I was too fat at that age back then, too. Y'all are doing fantastic. Keep up the awesome work!! ~ Mandy
  13. I am almost 4 months out, 90 pounds lost. Have only taken one shot of insulin (because of a steroid shot) and cut my bp meds in half since then. Thinking I may have to cut back bp meds even more. I've been noticing some lightheadedness and I believe it's my bp. But one shot of insulin in 4 months completely amazed me. My a1c went from 7.9 to 5.8 in less than 3 months.
  14. Woo hoo!! Good job. I hit onederland last week. 195. I've lost 90 pounds since surgery 4/16. keep up the good work.

    Onderland!

Finally!! I hit onederland! 195 at the dr today. Lost 90lbs since surgery 4/16!! Ecstatic! I haven't been under 200 since my 8th grade year. (95-96) woo hoo!!
  16. I want to do the c25k but I don't want to do it alone. I can barely get my husband to walk with me and he complains the whole time.
  17. mandyrenee82

He's hitting some spots thats NEVER been hit b4

The inside of my thighs are sooooo sore lol. Not as much cushion there now i guess. Hey, might help tone them up more this way lol.

He's hitting some spots thats NEVER been hit b4

Yup. Happened to me too. It feels a lot different. Deeper and has hit things I've never felt before!! He has noticed, too. He loves it. He can't keep his hands off of me. You go girls!
  19. Haven't weighed myself in a couple weeks. I was at 210. Might be below 200 now. I hate getting on the scale. im afraid of disappointment. I do know that I am wearing a size 14 now. That's a far cry from a 24.
  20. Ahh. I feel like a dummy lol. Way to go nonetheless. 74 is great for 3 months, too. Look good, keep up the great work. My weight on surgery day was 284. Now I'm 210. Goal weight is 165. I'm big boned, have a large frame. I'm 5'11. I may lower my goal weight but I don't want to look sick, if you know what I mean. My hometown already thinks I'm on crack because someone saw me home Memorial Day and I hadn't been home since Easter - right before my surgery- had lost close to 50 pounds if not more then. They told everyone I was on drugs lol. No one knows about the surgery but immediate family and hubby and they haven't told a soul. Small towns. Love em hate em. Keep up your fantastic work.

    Costco Chewable Childrens Vitamin

Go with your gut instinct and your dr. I couldn't stomach the adult mvi after surgery and they recommended flintstones complete. Has 100% of everything except calcium I think but I get a lot of that anyway. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

    Costco Chewable Childrens Vitamin

I was told by my fnp who used to work for a weight loss surgeon that children's flintstone vitamin complete were great for us to use because they have iron and everything we need but they need to be the complete kind not just the plain flintstone vitamins.
  25. Fingers crossed that ill be a mommy when my 18 months are up. 15 more months to go. Might talk my surgeon and pcp into letting us try a year out. Ill be 31 in August and my clock is ticking fast! All you girls with pcos having babies are giving me hope. Keep sharing your success stories.
