    scared of failure

This is a tool to help you lose weight, just like joining Weight Watchers or TOPS or Jenny Craig is. It is nobody's business whether you have had WLS at all. You can beg off by saying that you are scheduled for some minor surgery. Anyone who asks beyond that does not deserve an answer. You will find that this is not the 'easy way out' that people who have not had it think it to be, but it is a tool that will require you to remember how to eat properly. It is an amazing journey, and one that should help you succeed. The first couple weeks are not easy, but after that the routine becomes easier. You can do it! We are here to help you!

    1week Post Op Appointment

My first two weeks were awful. First week was worst, but really didn't get rid of pain till after 2 weeks out. Hang in there. Keep on sipping.
  3. I gave myself shots of a blood thinner. My insurance covered most of it. Don't remember off the top of my head how much it was.

The first day of the rest of my life

THe first 3 days are the hardest. After that the carb/sugar cravings slacken off. You can do this!

    If I COULDA....I WOULDA...

I was supposed to have 3 shakes a day, and clear liquids. Hang on. It is awfully hard for the first 3 days, and if you stick with it, you lose a lot of your hunger. The sugar is out of your system after about 3 days. I wasn't supposed to have fruit, but I did have some sugar free liquids and nibbled some ff yogurt. Hang in there. IT is hard. But you can do it!

    yesssssss

Great friend! Great idea, too. I have been with my hubby out a few times, and I just tell the waitress that I had surgery and can't eat. I can usually eat a little off my hubby's plate, but one place did not really have anything I could eat. Well, it was Culver's, and they had fish, but to order just one piece of fish was ridiculously expensive. So I drank water and watched my hubby eat. But asking for broth or something like that is a great idea.

    Sleeved April 23rd

Man, I love hearing that others have the same problems and successes in this journey. I was sleeved April 24, and now 2 weeks later am finally feeling that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Swelling is down, still have trouble taking a deep breath, but only one localized painful swollen spot so far. I, too, have trouble getting in all the protein and all the liquids. Today I go out for more Isopure RTD, hoping that will be easier to get down. I am a slow loser, and hope that upping the protein and finally feeling like getting around more will help the weight drop off. Thanks for sharing, ya'll

    The Boomer Chat Room

Hi! I will try to pop in and out occasionally. I am a Dec 47 boomer, so not sure if Sassy is the oldest or not! HA! I was sleeved APril 24, almost 2 weeks ago, and these two weeks have been harder (just the surgery recovery part) than I anticipated. I had gall bladder out back in 99, and appendix out last fall. Appendectomy was a piece of cake, and I guess I thought this would be, too. Ouch. Not the same. Anyway, I am at the stage trying to fit in all the protein I can, and water. I am a gulper, not a sipper, so it is a struggle. And my surgeon told me to try to stay away from straws because of the possibility of additional air, so I try to keep a bottle of water with me constantly. My tastes have changed, and SWEET things are not what I want. Wonder if I could just add protein powder to salsa and try that???? Oh, maybe let the tummy heal a little longer. I love not being hungry. I am learning to not let my eyes overload my tummy. A shot glass is the 2 TBSp serving I can most comfortably accommodate, and I try to stay at that. Or 2 shots occasionally. Most of my protein shakes are sweet: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and I have tried to add something to them to cut out the sweet. peanut butter goes down pretty well. just a tsp at a time, of course. I thought I wanted to try Almond milk, and was disappointed to find that it has little protein in it. Well, I am just rambling, and need to go do something productive. Sail on!

Not as much support as I thought.

I am not sure who intended you to be mated with this person. It does not sounds like a loving and supporting relationship. Mates should act as partners, in my opinion. This surgery will be only a tool that you can use (or ignore) to help you be more healthy and able to work to the glory of G-d.

    Losing will power fast

Funny how things post to help us through. I was at the stage this morning thinking what on earth did I do this? I could have stayed fat and...and then I stopped, because I wasn't fat and happy, I was just fat and struggling to get around. So I thank you for the post. I was sleeved on the 24th, and have found that several things don't work for me. I love oatmeal, but apparently it doesn't love me after about 30 minutes. So that is 2 TBSP down the toilet. Cream of mushroom Soup - strained! - seems to make the cut. I have had trouble the last couple days getting the Water and anything else down. Too sore, too miserable, etc etc. But my husband is my rock! He doesn't want to eat anything in front of me, and I tell him it is okay, because for one thing nothing looks or sounds good. Except maybe sweet potatoes. Need to try one. Hang in, Hang on, and we can all get through this together!

ISn't it amazing that there is not an online clothing swap place for bariatric surgery patients?
