    Stop sipping

I was less than 2 weeks out when i could start drinking liquids fairly normal again. Dr said it was fine as long as they were low or no cal liquids.
  3. Out of everything I've read and learned over the million years I've been trying to lose weight I still think that losing weight and exercising will only add years to my life. But will check this out with my Dr next time I talk to him. Granted there are plenty of "healthy"people who have maintained a normal weight and exercised for their whole life who drop dead but there is usually an underlying issue that they were not aware of or not public about.
  4. You think you cut 18 years off your life by HAVING the surgery? I've never heard or read that. Where is that info from?

    Food

I just came from the grocery store. I'm still on full liquids so had cottage cheese, SF popsicles, chicken broth, refried beans and yogurt in my cart. The guy behind me was unloading his cart full of non-diet pop, processed meats, chips, etc... Granted he was probably having a cook-out but now that I'm in this mind-set it just all looked kinda gross. I do plan on participating in BBQ's etc... again but hope to make better food choices:)

    Finally

    You're doing great!!
  9. For the 1st 2 weeks after my liquids stage I'm only allowed to add cottage cheese, yogurt, refried beans, creamy soup. No eggs or cheese for me until the next stage. So maybe stick with really soft thru the transition?

    Fad Diets

    Fad Diets

Have done a million more but a few I don't see mentioned are The pre-digested liquid Protein diet which was a bottle of red liquid and you took 2 spoonfuls 3-4 x's a day with NO other food at all. This was late 70's. The Aspen Diet- was a infomercial in the 80's? where they sent you dry meals in pouches that you added hot Water to. Think oatmeal, grains, etc.. Another infomercial, don't remember the name of it but they sent you 2 inhalers like you would use for stuffy nose and 1 was supposed to supress your appetite, peppermint scent I think. The other one, get this, was supposed to break your habit of eating things that taste good but not good for you. Ex. take a big bit of a brownie, and then take a whiff of the inhaler which basically smelled like crap (literally) and then you would associate brownies with crap:) Showing my age here!

When can I take a bath?

Mine said 4 weeks for bath or swimming. Evidently no hard & fast timelines between Docs:)
  13. Mine is a capsule but I have another pill I take that is a tablet no problem. I don't take them at the same time though.
  14. Health Wise Oatmeal. Actually 14 g of Protein not 15. Just looking at box. I buy it in the hospital pharmacy.
  15. I can add oatmeal on my 2 weeks out list. I used a oatmeal/protein supplement on my pre-surgery diet and still use it as it has 15g of protein and tastes great!
  16. Mine last maybe 4-5 days after surgery. They sent me home with pain killers so that helped alot:)

    Sick

    Worried....

Don't be worried. I had my 2 wk f/u appt today and told Dr liquids were going down fine now. Can drinking more or at normal speed hurt anything? He said, no, liquids pretty much go through your stomach and you won't feel restriction. As long as they are no cal or low cal, drinking is a good thing! He did say not to drink for 45 mins after a meal.
  19. I too look at the Recent Topics on the right. It doesn't tell you forum until you are in the post. To be honest I don't bother looking at it then either. If it's a subject I want to read or comment on I do:)
  20. It gets much better!!! Hope they are giving you & sending you home with nausea meds. By day 5 you should feel a lot better. And better each day after that. 2 weeks out for me today & can honestly say I feel pretty normal:)
  21. I just came from my 2 wk f/u appt. Sleeved 5/15 too:) I told the Dr that liquids go down easy. He said that's good. They pretty much just pass through the stomach so you can't drink too much as long as it's no or low calorie. Having my 1st "meal"right now!! 1/4 cup refried beans w/ 1 tsp salsa. Only had a couple mini bites but so far so good. I like my next 2 week food list even though it's called Full Liquids there are some actual foods on it. Sounds like you're going great!!
  22. I got it right away when I saw it was a Lipstick post Glad you finally got THAT out of the way. You probably lost a couple more pounds.
