    Bizarre trend?

It's major surgery and life altering....not something to be taken lightly. Some days....well...suck. Most days are good. There is pain, staples, and incisions that do not heal rapidly and you change gross bandages 2-3 times a day. Yes, you will get queasy and perhaps lose your lunch. Yes, your body will adjust, heal and adapt. But eventually, you begin to feel better and you notice that your energy is returning. And you notice that your clothes are not tight and you can walk up stairs easier. Then you accept that life may never be the way it was....you mourn what was and move on to what you had hoped for all along. It's call a life changing event. So mourn, shed a few tears, get angry, and use the stages of grief to arrive at a better place....what you were aiming for all along. Never give up or wish for what can never be again....wishing to eat a whole pizza after a sleeve is just waited time and emotion....think about what is good, positive, and possible.

    Day 5 of Liquid Diet

I was recovering from a cold and had a low grade fever the day of surgery. They still did the surgery; however, I wish I had postponed. The sinus drainage and coughing was hard on the incisions.

    My 1 year Mark!

    You look great. Congratulations!
  5. Take it slow. Rest is your friend and healer. Remember that you just had major surgery. Move at some point each day or at least sit in a chair to regain strength. Drink liquid but remember that your new tummy will not hold much. Just make it an all day sip vs. a one time gulp. ...sigh..I do miss gulping. Sorry, I digress. Be gentle with yourself....wear your favorite sleepwear or lounging around clothes....don't rush the healing process....listen to your body. Read a good book or watch an inspirational movie. This is your time to heal. It's a journey and each day gets a little better.

Great job....the success shows in your smile. You look good. Way to go!
  7. Her rock. Her backpack. You don't have to carry her rock in your own backpack.....give it back to her. It's amazing how lite our backpack becomes when we give others their rocks back.

    back pain after eating?

It gets better with time. I'm almost three weeks out and I can tell a difference. I mainly encounter the pain now when I drink something really cold.

    Sorry

Thank you for sharing. You can definitely tell a difference in your weight loss. Way to go!
  10. I understand where you are. I was sleeved on April 10 and I'm struggling with one incision that simply will not heal. I'm so tired of changing bandages 3-4 x a day. I do know that I'm feeling better each day and in time the struggles will be less. I encourage you to hang in there and remember its ok to "feel what you feel" but look beyond the moment at hand and realize that time will pass....it passes no matter what we are doing...sad to say...so just remember that time will pass and you will feel better. I hope that helps.

    The beginning...well, not so much...

Good decision buts its not a quick fix. The discipline of the pre-op diet was hard for me and then to realize its a mainstay afterwards caught me by surprise. I guess I never really thought beyond the surgery, the pain, and recovery. I was so focused on pre and post surgery. However, after the doctor gave me the green light this week to begin regular food I'm realizing that how I eat and what I eat is very different. It's all good but the surgery forces a lifestyle change that is forever. I think I missed the forever part. I wish you much success and a successful surgery. Even with a couple of minor complications, I would do the surgery again. I want to be healthy.

"Ain't nobody got time for that"

I encountered the same thing with my patient advocate. Very nice lady but gave me wrong info a few times and lost my paperwork. I left several voice mail messages that were never returned. I finally resulted to email and when she didn't respond I forwarded to the program manager. In the end, she finally responded and everything worked out. I can only imagine the number of questions she receives daily. My surgeon is one of the best and I think my patient advocate was just overloaded.....it's a busy office.

Bumps in the Road to Happiness...

I am so sorry....my heart hurts for you. You did the right thing and count this as a blessing. It may not feel like a blessing but God just did you a huge favor. Now it's time to focus on the amazing future ahead....with you leading the charge. Remember that courage is found when times are tough. You have courage.

    5 weeks post op

You are so right.....the surgery forces one to look internally at the real issue....it's then that you realize you've been playing the wrong song over and over....it's time for a new song...thank you for sharing.

  23. I have one as well....13 day out from surgery now....just had staples removed. The dent is from the internal stitches and will go away with time (per my doctor).
