    ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....

I asked ages ago and never got a request. Maybe no one is keeping the page up.

    ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....

I don't have issues with the texture when it is in a more soup/stew form. Plain ground chicken though is a bit off putting for me.

    ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....

http://www.weightandwellness.com/resources/recipes/soups-and-stews/white-chicken-chili/ I've also used the one in my Betty Crocker cookbook. I'll be honest, I never follow a recipe exactly so these are just guides. Another thing I've liked is boneless chicken breast in the crock or Dutch oven with a jar of salsa. Cook till meat flakes apart and add 3/4 to a full brick of cream cheese (turns a pink color). That's ok puréed and my family eats it as flautas or tacos.

    ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....

White chicken chili puréed is quite good (mine isn't too spicy). My dr wants me to eat 1/4 c protein 1/4 c fruit/veggie so I've had butternut parsnip soup, white asparagus soup, and various puréed fruits as well.

    ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....

Jshaw. I had surgery on 4/4. I also had two hernias repaired. I have not returned to work yet because I still have a lot of pain on the left side. I sleep in a recliner due to low back pain as well. I only take Tylenol. I had a CT scan it appears that my stomach is still inflamed but no leaks or infections. The liver and pancreas are working well. It appears as though I have just over done it (I have a 9month old and 3 yr old). What I've learned is that it doesn't matter what you read or who you talk to but until you do this yourself you'll never really know. It will get better!

    Constipation

My girlfriend's son has been on it for two years. I think he takes half a capful in the morning. Not that I recommend that but I do know someone who has been on it prolonged.

    Constipation

Colace was recommended post pregnancy and post vsg. I was told it works best when taken in the morn by both hospitals. I was also told to take Senna/Senokot at night. Two colace two senna. Works great. I am 3 weeks post surgery and down to one colace every other day.

    Baby Food for Puree Phase

Also, I use a lot of dal in the foods we make. Moong dal, toor dal and Chana daal but I'm not counting carbs. If you like Indian food you won't even notice it.

    Baby Food for Puree Phase

I have a 9 month old and I make food for the both of us. I have two great baby food cookbooks. It seems the key in most recipes is spice, spice and more spice. We also expierament a lot. For instance steamed carrots with apples, pears, peaches or apricots (all steamed) are quite yummy. Smoked salmon is great puréed or mashed well with dill or tarragon and lemon or lime juice or a horseradish sauce. Baby can't get enough of it as well.
  12. Did what work for me? Sorry, I'm not sure what you are referring to. Personally, even though I am only two weeks out so far I'd say everything has worked for me. This has been a great adventure but I'd say that about my life in general.
  13. NtvTxn. I'd say you're a rare breed. Seems most people obsess about the number on the scale. Glad it's working for you and you're right it's not a diet but a lifestyle.

    Embracing a new active life

I work for a gov agency and we have what's called active living at work. The idea is sit stand walk. We have walking meetings, sit to stand desks, printers located far away so you have to walk and a variety of activities organized at work. Consider standing when you are on the phone. I have a program in my pc that recognizes when I've been mousing, reading or typing for extended periods of time and pops up to say "hey, go for a walk" or "try this stretch." Having a job you like is one of the healthiest things you can do.
  17. I guess ice cream would be a banned food. They also have never said what they would like my weight to be or how much they want me to lose maybe because when they asked I said I didn't care I just wanted to be able to sit in stadium seats without pain and be able to buy a one person kayak. Basically, they said listen to your body, exercise, eat your Protein first and enjoy life.
  18. This has been a very interesting thread. I've enjoyed it. One thing I often want to say to people on here is put the darn scale away! I am two weeks out and started this journey October 4, 2012. Since 7/17/12, I am down 85 lbs and 52 of that since Oct. If I didn't lose another pound I would be happy. The surgery and recovery has been amazing for me. I can have hot and cold foods, I have been eating cottage cheese, tuna, and smoked salmon for he last 4 days. Not once have I vomited or had the runs. Here's where it gets interesting for me. There have been very few rules. I have no protein or carb requirements. No banned foods. These are what my dr/nut recommend. 2 week liq diet pre-op. if you need to eat anything consider tuna or eggs. High protein low cal foods. No alcohol for one year. No ice cream. Two week full diet post op. followed by puréed foods for two weeks and two weeks of soft foods. Eat your protein first. Have 1/4 protein and 1/4 fruit, veggies or carbs. No calorie counting.

    Something Interesting

I've been flavoring my own plain Greek yogurt for years now. I have a local spice shop and there are a few that seem to go over well in our house. I'd suggest using whatever sweetener you use and the following to taste. pumpkin pie spice with a hint of vanilla Apple pie spice + vanilla Chai spice with vanilla or sometimes I've used almost extract Lemon and lime zest
