Worried about my blood sugar delaying surgery :(
Cheer Mama replied to karpouzian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really is safer that way and you know that when your sugars are high you heal much slower..... I don't normally have high blood sugar and mine was very high after surgery. I have never had insulin and I had had 3 doses in the hospital till my body had a chill and quit producing too much sugar. How high would your numbers be if you START with high numbers..... I know it's hard, be patient. -

Cheer Mama commented on newmeIowa's blog entry in newmeIowa's Blog
I'm a teacher also. I was sleeved on June 7th. I cannot imagine going back to school after only 2 weeks. That would have been soooooo hard. I'm exhausted after walking very slowly for 30 minutes. I cannot imagine doing inclusion and running around like that. Have a wonderful summer. -

Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear this. Talk to your doc again. Ask if they have seen this before and what is going on. Ask for a wound specialist if you need to go that route. Good luck! -

Cheer Mama replied to Paradise Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Funny how all docs are different. My doc wanted me to really concentrate on getting in the protein right from the get go. He was so adamant that he actually made me concentrate in my drug induced haze to repeat that my goal was 60 protein/ 60 liquid. -

Side and Stomach sleepers-How long...
Cheer Mama posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long was it before you could sleep on your side or stomach? -
My second week actually started last Friday and today is Monday... Oh, well. My biggest accomplishment today is that I waited till bedtime to use my muscle relaxants and codeine. My sprained neck is almost completely healed! That has been the most painful part of this surgery. I found that I now have thrush all over my tongue. I will sooo be talking to the doctor in the morning. I found that I am sleeping a TON! I'm lucky my mom and mother-in-law are helping me. Today I slept till 1:30! Such a luxury. I did do some cleaning and laundry but I found it hard to vacuum and the laundry is heavy. Oh, and the whole bending over thing is not easy. I'm still drinking protein drinks, ramen with protein, a little bit of greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and a big cheat with a scrambled egg. The cheats happened when I was getting desperate and needed away to take my medicine or get in somekind of protein. The hardest thing for me to get down is the yogurt. I have to use very small amounts. I've lost almost fifteen pounds now. I can't wait for the umbilical hernia to repair so that I can start sit ups. My stomach is still really swollen and not using my stomach has my lower back aching.
