It sure is fun to log on after a day or so and find the whole June band circus has been running full tilt! We have to be losing weight because our fingers are so active!! Thanks everyone for all your input, it's helping me get through this with some sanity left (I think). ML

If you can anticipate a cough or a sneeze, grab a pillow and hold it to your belly. Helps alot! ML

I also weighed more when I got home from surgery than I did before I went in. I was told to expect this because they "pump" a ton of liquid into you. But here is a word of warning...look at the thread about Blood Pressure meds in the Main Forum. I experienced exactly what they are reporting, that is, within two weeks of surgery I had lost enough weight that my meds were way too high. I was light headed and passing out before I called my Dr. to find out what the problem was. If you have a cuff, I suggest you use it daily (instead of a scale?) and if you don't have one there are alot of drug stores that have machines that can be used for free. Meanwhile, hope all the fluid is down the drain and you are feeling well. ML

Hey friends, I've been reading responses of what kinds of problems and issues people have been having and I haven't seen this one yet... I was banded 7/13/07 and other than some constipation, didn't think I was having any major problems. While I was in the hospital, my blood pressure (which is usually high, and for which I take Rx) was very low. My daughter and husband mentioned this, and the nurse said that it was a normal effect of the surgery, not to worry. Since I've been home I've found it very difficult to exercise. I get very light headed and winded. I've been thinking it was because I was an out of shape woosse. Last Friday, I was puttsing in the garden, pulling up some easy weeds. I got light headed and the next thing I remember is my husband and a neighbor were standing over me trying to get me up!! My friend lent me a blood pressure monitor, and my pressure was 97/50. :faint: I called the surgeon and after a bunch of questions about my diet and incisions (which were all in good shape) was told to talk to my primary care Dr. about Rx dosage. Of course the primary was out of office on Friday, so I'm waiting around this morning for them to return my phone calls. Lesson learned: :lightning: Pay attention to physical symptions and don't blame them on what you think are your character flaws! ML

I was banded on June 13 and got out of the hospital the afternoon of the 14th. A few days later I posted a message about how very well I was doing. No gas, not much pain, not hungery etc, etc. Then the s**t hit the fan yesterday! I've never been constupated (I'm not even sure how to spell it!) before, but now I have huge sympathy for anyone who is. I sat in the bathroom for about 3 hours, my DH was bringing me coffee to drink, a fan to cool me off, you name it! It was like something out of a sitcom. Finally, everything came out alright, :scared:but this plugged up experience is not something I want to do again anytime soon! I called the nurse to ask for suggestions and one thing she said was that if I was going to be walking outside, I have to compensate by drinking even more water because it is hot and I'll be sweating. Duh, good thought. Cheers everyone! ML

Trouble with LBT pages loading
marylou replied to NimbleBean's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I've been having the same problem. I contacted the site administrator and she suggested I delete my Cookies. Well, cookies are deleted in my kitchen as well as my computer, and there are still many forums that I cannot get to load. I get a plain white page, not the blue gradient that I get when the load is successful. Very annoying, any other suggestions? marylou -
Hello all, I'm back from surgery and doing very well. If only I could say the same about my web brouser. I have tried to get on to the other (older) June 07 website at least a dozen times in a dozen different ways. What I get is a blank white screen. I'm not sure if it is too full, or my machine is set with limitations or what. So, I'm posting and reading from here from now on because I can get to it! My surgery was Wednesday the 13th. I was discharged from the hospital on Thursday afternoon. I've been walking alot and feeling pretty good. Minor gas pains that go away when I walk. Minor tight feeling in my abdomen. My surgeon says everything went 100% perfect, and I go back for a post op on Tuesday. If I say so myself, I was very careful and nearly perfect in doing everything they told me to do pre-op. I'm sure that is why I'm feeling so good. Cheers to all! Hope those of you who are on the schedule for tomorrow will have the same or better experience that I have had. Marylou

Good morning all, I've been reading the posts during the last two weeks and it is wonderful to know that there are hundreds of people out there who are willing to put their experiences and thoughts on the line. You are all appreciated! :kiss I'm about to get in the car on my way to the hospital. I'm not sure I was this nervous when I got in the car to have my baby! Both events are life altering. Now that I think about it, I should be thinking of them as similar. This time I'm hoping for a healthy, happy me. Cheers!! ML

Hello all, I sent my first posting to the introduction thread, and read there that this was the place to be if you have a June date. I'm scheduled for next Wednesday, have started my pre-op diet, and yes, I'm getting nervous. My husband has been very supportive, and my dear and darling daughter is coming into town for a few days to hold my hand. My weight issues have haunted me all of my life, and I found it especially trickey to raise a daughter into adulthood trying my damndest not to pass eating issues on to her. She is now 29, an athlete, and does have a few issues. I'm blameing those on the media! So it is a huge treat to have her offer to be by my side next week. Thanks for all of you who have posted your experiences. I'm getting a lot out of them. ML

To UK Mommy, Looks like we have some similarities in our backgrounds. I lurked for awhile (thanks folks, for letting me look over your shoulders) and recently joined because I was given a surgery date of June 13. I've been attending the classes, and required appointments since January, and when my insurance said ok, they set the date. It must be an awful feeling to have the doctors profess great interst in you, and then you never hear from them again. One factor in my choice of clinics and programs was just how much I felt I could trust the people to be really interested in my case, not just my money. I went to a few different places and meetings before I made my choice. And I have to travel quite a distance to the clinic (70 miles) when there are places closer to my home. I've chosen Northwestern Memorial Wellness Institute in Chicago, and my surgeon will be Dr. Hungness. (Anyone have any horror stories, get them in quick, I have one week left to change my mind!) I'm 58 and have tried to lose weight the "health and fitness" way for at least 15 years. I can lose 30 lbs and then gain it right back. My choice to go the lapband route was made because I have the "attendent morbidity factors" of high BP, reflux, and sleep apnea. I want to get healthy!! I'm 5'6" and 235lbs. We have four adult children and I want to be able to run after my grandchildren. I have to admit that now they have scheduled a date, I'm getting nervous. Glad this forum is around so I can jump from topic to topic and get lots of points of view. Any advice? I'd say keep trying. To paraphrase my son, "the only thing worse than losing weight is not losing weight". Cheers! ML
