As someone who is both outspoken and sensitive, I get how many times those traits can seem diametrically opposed. I remember clearly the first post I made here that someone really disagreed with, and it sucked...it is always more fun to see the "likes". I think life is a process, I actually updated my Facebook profile photo today to a quote that says "I'll make better mistakes tomorrow". I'm glad that you are working with a counselor. Personally, I think that shows great strength to be willing to peel away some of the armor to expose and understand the soft underbelly we work so hard to hide.

Awesome. Well said.

...then the "liquid with food" issue you raised is moot

Lol...how much do you think she is going to consume? Don't get me wrong, I love me some hot sauce, but I never considered it any differently than any other condiment.

Yes, that will kill you......................seriously, No time like the present to start tackling the head hunger issues...you don't NEED rice, you WANT rice, and being able to effectively tell yourself "no" and move on is an important step you will need to repeat ad naseum in the coming weeks, months and years. I am not as militant as some in their view on simple carbs like rice, however, that soon after surgery, that really is a bad choice...little pieces of rice near your staple line is just an unnecessary risk.

Ok, I am only playing this game because you asked! Although I think I'd rather play the game of "best smart ass rebuttal to the next person you know that asks you this question"...but, I would guess that you are 150 (and I think you LOOK 10 pounds less than that)

Congrats! That is awesome...and kudos to your hubby, as well...love hearing stories if supportive spouses :-)

Yeah, in the soft foods stage, a spoon is your best scooper

Thanks...appreciate the response...just went and walked a "color bomb" 5k in 90 degree heat and found that to be a dandy way to have the scale drop...lol.. down 2 pounds since this morning...still feel bloated, though :-)
-
Hi...I'm coming up on 8 weeks since surgery and the day before yesterday I looked at my stomach and thought, "huh, that looks bloated"...weighed myself yesterday morning and went up by almost a pound....bloated feeling continues today, but the scale has returned most of that pound ...I had BM yesterday and this morning, so I wouldn't think that is it...is it possible (likely?) that it is premenstrual? trying to figure out how many days into my cycle I am, but not really sure what is happening in that department...last one started early but was abnormally long (like 10 or 11 days) Thoughts?

Ugh...hit send too soon ...but, as others have said (and you know) cramps can be from a myriad of deficiencies/imbalance...calcium/potassium/magnesium/sodium, and, of course, Water. http://www.drgangemi.com/articles/cramping_style/

This article seems to address a good number if causes and treatments

Personally, I tell people. I made the decision that I refused to have shame about this. I believe the "secrets" that we keep take a significant toll on our mind, body and spirit and keep us stuck in behavior and thought patterns that suck the life out of us (and probably had something to do with why we ended up needing WLS in the first place.) -
Awesome. Thanks :-)

Oh my, the hard bodies at the pool are going to be quite surprised when I go plop down on a lounge chair... at my size...in a bikini. Even though I still have lots o' weight to lose, I decided I was tired of having pasty white legs because I wasn't enjoying the gorgeous pool at my complex (seriously, it's like The Bellagio) Working on holding my head high and not worrying about what others think...I'm going to take a page from the boys who can have a giant gut, scrawny legs and a hairy back and walk around like they are the ****...off I go :-)

That is too funny!

Good tasting chewable multivitamin?
jensjoy28 replied to lynndtt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I initially bought the Flinstones MV remembering back to my childhood and liking them...either my tastes have changed or my memory has...anyway, then I bought the Kroger brand sour gummie MV...did a comparison btwn it and Flinstones and the gummie is better in what it provides EXCEPT for Iron, B1 and B2 (doesn't have any of those)...however I am choosing to overlook those until a point at which it becomes an issue (otherwise known as being an ostrich) -
I wish I hadn't seen this forum....

Promise, there are TONS of people on here that had smooth surgery and complication-free recovery ... certainly not trying to downplay the possibility of complications that can range from minor to major, but if you've done your research on your surgeon and feel confident in his abilities, and are committed to following your post-op plan, the odds are definitely in your favor that you'll be one of the ones telling success story. Good luck! -
Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with answering if someone asked me...however, do I think it is polite to ask? No, probably not =)

Very funny!

sharp pains on right side of belly area
jensjoy28 replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Left side is where the stomach is...right side has gallbladder (and appendix, while not shown on here is right side, but down closer to pelvic area) Could be gas, as you suggested...a few days post-op had some gas pain that stopped me short -
Isn't that amazing...I think back to high school and college and was sooo unhappy with my weight, and now that weight is my goal weight.
-
You are very kind, thank you........I had a whole list of things that I was going to say to downplay that compliment, but I need to take my own advise from an early post and just say a gracious "thank you"
