  1. Oh yes, going to the DMV in California is really an opportunity to see our state run like clockwork!! I recently went in and the wait time for those who had an appointment was 70 minutes...for those poor souls who didn't have an appointment...wait time 195 minutes...no joke! Maybe that picture is staying on my license longer than I thought :-)
  2. I would (will) happily get a new pic for my driver's license...there are plenty of other pics of me fat that I could look to if I want to remember where I've come from.

    Lettuce?

Worth it to ask him specifically....could be the caloric content that juice can have and the low protein (if you don't add it to what you juice)

    Lettuce?

I have juiced post-op and had no problems (however, I didn't have problems re-introducing any foods, so I'm not sure I'm a good go-by)

    Non Scale Victory

My latest NSV was when I realized that I have gone into the fabulous little bakery that is at my office complex to get my daily non-fat latte and breathed in the great-smelling (and tasting!) pastries and not purchased one over the last 4 months since surgery. Have been some days where I was tempted, but wasn't (too) difficult to tell myself "no". Nice to be making mindful choices that support a healthy lifestyle

Sushi at almost 4 weeks post op ;,(

So, just to make sure I've got clear picture, you had 9 small pieces of sushi sans seaweed, but was there rice? If no rice, then I don't see an issue...although 9 pieces does seem like a decent volume and more than I could do at 4 weeks

    Lettuce?

Seems likely lettuce was the cause. My surgeon said that often times lettuce is one of the last things people can reintroduce...I didn't try until I was 3 mos. but was fine when I did. Would wait a few weeks and try again

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

5/8/13 SW 310 CW 240 70 pounds lost with one more week until the 4-mo mark. I took the "current"pic yesterday, but put the wrong date on it...then scale dropped this morning (yay!) Besides the obvious, I trip out on the difference in my forearms, and even how puffy my eyelid area was compared to today.

    Nothing tastes different.

My tastes didn't change...everything I liked before is still good. Fortunately, my cravings for food have been quelled, and if I decide to indulge in a treat, a bite truly suffices.

    3 months post op pics

    Wow, just wow!

    I say screw you Lululemon

This isn't a rant about vertical sleeve, but more a rant about Lululemon, the fitness clothing company. I live in So. Cal. where the Lululemon logo is as ubiquitous as Starbucks and luxury car emblems...so, I'm feeling pretty good about myself, and decided to go to their website and check out a pair of their workout pants...and you know what their largest size is??? A 12.....which they have the audacity to describe as XL. Even when I get to that size I am very tempted to give a big F U to them on principal.

    Self pay in the USA

Orange County, CA for $18,500...I know many people are happy with their Mexico surgery, but it just wasn't for me. I could suggest looking into a personal, unsecured loan through a credit union...if you paid the cash that you had for Mexico and financed the rest, you could finance the rest for a very doable finance rate (mine was 8%, I think)

    Breath?

Yes, it does go away after a while

    Breath?

Welcome to ketosis...state your body is in when it is burning fat...responsible for monster breath and smelly urine

    Bras? HELP

I agree with the comment about Intimacy, Nordstroms or local bra shop...I discovered Intimacy a number of years ago and love them...I wanted pretty bras that fit larger cup sizes and most stores just don't do that...these are expensive bras though (think the ones I own average $150) but I consider it a worthwhile investment that has the girls looking good and me feeling good. Some of my favorite brands there are Empriente, Panache, PrimaDonna, Chantelle and Freya. Some of those brands are also available at Nordstroms
  16. I am tripping on the difference in my forearm and even the eyelid/brow area...crazy!
  17. Here is 4 mo. Progress shot at 70 pounds down. I can even tell in my wrists and fingers :-)

    Ideal goal weight?

I'm 5'7" and would be thrilled at 160, and my surgeon is totally supportive of that goal...I've never been "that small" as an adult...in college when I was 19 or 20 I started on phen-fen when I weighed 187 (hilarious to me now) and as I recall I got down to about 169, and was quite pleased....10 pounds more than that is almost incomprehensible to me :-) Good luck on your journey!

    Sad NSV

What size would you be next?..if it is a size I have in my closet, I'd be happy to send to you :-)

    Sad NSV

I LOVE Silver jeans...I know they aren't inexpensive, but may be worth getting a new, smaller size...

    scales

This can happen...typically it is a result of eating too much, too quickly, or foods that expand (rice, bread, pasta, carbonated items). I am 3.5 months out and have only had mild discomfort after eating a handful of times.
  22. Oh, I really do love clothes...and Pinterest :-)

    scales

I have that same scale and it is very easy to use...first step is to turn it on and then check that it is reading ounces instead of kilograms (sounds like it is)...if you need to switch it, hit the "unit" button once to switch measuring mode. If you are measuring food outside of a container, put it directly on the scale and read the number...the number on the left side of the decimal is the "full" ounces, and the number on the right side of the decimal is the "portion" of the ounce...so 2.6 would be 2 ounces with 6/10 of another ounce. If you are measuring multiple items to get to a total, just add together the totals you get (so, 1.1 oz + 2.6 oz + .4 oz would = 4.1 oz) Then, if you have a container that you don't want to be included in the total you see on the scale, then you place the empty container on the scale BEFORE you turn it on, then hit the "tare" button on the right...wait a second and it will show a 0 number on the scale and then you can add in food to the container and it will only count the "net" weight of the food (so, if you placed 3 oz of food into a container that weighs 6 oz, the scale will only show the 3 oz food portion)
  24. You can do this...good job at resisting the urge so far and reaching out for help when your OA sponsor is not available...is so hard, but what others have said is true, the craving is in your head, it has NOTHING to do with what your body needs...and you will feel so defeated if you give in, but so proud of yourself if you withstand the temptation. I think there have been some good suggestions for "in-program" ways to get your sweet fix and/or some distractions to take your mind off of the head hunger..employ a few of them or all of them...eye on the prize, it is totally worth it.
