Dr Acevez, Dr Ortiz or Dr Alvarez?

Oh, and his pre-op requirements can vary a little depending on your health history and BMI. My requirements were to do a 7 day pre-op diet of high protein, lower fat, low carb. I didn't have to count calories. They do, however, encourage you to exercise and lose weight before surgery. I have a YouTube channel (under this user name) where I talk at length about my experience there. I did a video after my pre-op tests, and one on each of the two days following surgery.

My bad. They didn't pay for my hotel in San Diego, though I see why you read it that way. I just went down a day before Ernesto's pick-up because I didn't like my flight options Monday morning. I booked directly with Nina. I don't think I ever called, I did everything via email. I emailed from his website, which I believe is www.mexicalibariatric.com . I think he does charge more for a high BMI. I think there was an extra $500 charge but is have to look at my paperwork. I was a 50.1 BMI when I first inquired but lost 35 pounds before surgery.

I had a great experience. I wasn't sure what to expect but the attention and care was better than I expected or have experienced here in the states. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone. We flew out of Portland and it was about $230 a person. We spent the night in San Diego at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina, which was very nice. Ernesto picked us up from the hotel the next morning.
  4. I just messages you. Think of everything you've given up to this point in your life because of your weight. 24 hours from now, you'll be on your way to the life that you've been wanting. At some point, your weight drove you to the point of leaving the country to have surgery. Love yourself enough to have the courage to follow through.
  5. And yes! I have most everything documented on YouTube. I did a video the night before where I explained the pre-op process and idid one the day after and 2 days after surgery. Let me know if you have any specific questions!
  6. I had my sleeve 5 weeks ago and cannot recommend him enough. Everything about my experience exceeded my expectations. I was always well cared for and fully understood the process and what to expect. The entire staff was amazing and it was absolutely worth every penny.

I had my sleeve 5 weeks ago. My total cost (excluding airfare and meals prior to surgery) was $8750. That cost included transportation to and from San Diego airport, one night at the hotel, all pre-op testing, surgery and three nights in the hospital. His first name is Alberto and his website is www.mexicalibariatric.com

    Dr. Aceves, Mexicali, and Me!

I'm doing awesome, thanks. . I suspect based on my ever growing list of notes that my next video will be a long one again. *blush* I've totally amped up my workouts, which is only possible because Dr. Aceves is such a fantastic surgeon.

    Dr. Aceves, Mexicali, and Me!

I considered not having the last meal, but I'm glad I did. It helped me relax and it was a fond farewell to that part of my life. I had no issues with my surgery and felt shockingly fantastic despite the food I ate. That night is a really good memory for me.

There are 3 restaurants at Lucerna, too! We ate our entree in the Italian restaurant then went to the traditional restaurant for margaritas and Bananas Singapore (basically bananas foster made table side). Both were delicious and it was nice to just walk to the room after.

That's so kind! I have a hard time believing that people actually enjoy listening to me ramble on forever, but I enjoy watching other people do it, so. There are so many good people to watch! These people are other Dr. Aceves Patients, so we can start there: LessOfSarah Altering Ashley ile122975 Katie O. (She'll be there right before you!) OakleyGirlGoesVSG (her surgery is today)
  13. One thing that I used and was so happy to have with me was an extension cord that had three outlets. I plugged it in before my surgery, then I didn't have to bend over to plug my laptop cord or phone charger in. It helped all of my cords reached my bed, which was nice. I packed pretty light (I think) and though I took nightgowns, pajama pants and pajama shorts, I preferred the pajama pants after surgery.

Dr Acevez, Dr Ortiz or Dr Alvarez?

Dr. Aceves did my surgery 2.5 weeks ago and it was a fantastic experience. Everyone on his staff was incredible. I felt well cared for and the doctors checked on me multiple times a day. I am so pleased with my choice, it exceeded my already high expectations.
  15. Same. I paid 8750 to have surgery a week ago. It was worth every penny to be in his care. That being said, there are a lot of great surgeons in Mexico, you just have to find the right one for you.
  16. Glad it went well! I arrive there on Monday!

    June 2013 Sleevers! "The List"

I'm having my VSG on June 18th too.
  20. I made the personal decision to have surgery in Mexico on Thursday, inquired on Friday, submitted my medical information Friday, it was reviewed/approved by the doctor yesterday, and I confirmed my surgery date today. My deposit is in the mail! I realize that sounds like I didn't give it much thought, but I've been researching surgery for over a year, so once I made the decision to go, it happened very quickly. My surgery isn't until June because I need to wait until spring term is over, but I could have scheduled it sooner if I was able to travel eariler.

    Picking June Date

I'm paying my deposit next week to have surgery with Dr. Aceves in mid-June. It seems far away now, but I know it will be here in a flash.
