Good morning all.....I've lost a total of 12 lbs. since starting my pre-op and feel pretty good!! The only true sore spot is my port site, everything else is healing rather well!! I was feeling so good, I even made my husband breakfast and didn't steal a thing!!! lol Hope everyone is doing well......hard to believe it's August 3 already.....17 more days and I'm off to Scotland for three weeks....yipeee I'll check back later......have a great day!

Dini - loved your birthday pics, thanks for sharing. I know I'm not on here often, but I would like to put in my 2 cents about your relationship woes. I watched my cousin chase her husband around for the 7 years they were married, having to "out" things about him because he kept secrets. A good relationship can't be based on secrets, it never works out well. The strength it takes to end a relationship is even harder and figuring out that we can survive on our own is our greatest gift to ourselves, as women. It shows us our strength and determination to have healthy, successful relationships in the future. Just because you may not stay with your little girls father, does not mean he can not play a major role in his daughters life, so I think staying together for that sake is not always a healthy life for anyone either. Hope this helps a little! Once again, your pics show a beautiful woman who deserves a wonderful relationship!! Good luck.

Only - I'm drinking SlimFast.....and I've also had to drink the medifast for pre-op, SlimFast tastes 100% better.....believe me.....and it has 10 grams of protein......I would call my Dr. and ask about it.....it is an option. Not big on "shakes" myself as I did the Cambridge Diet back in the 80's (it was powder form) for 6 months and I swore I would never drink another shake.....but I did, for my pre-op......and now SlimFast for my week of liquids.....I wish I had more for you!!

Maria, how very creative of you!!! At this point, I don't think the Dr.'s necessarily are looking for weight loss, as healing!! I had clam chowder, which was thick, I added milk and then magic bulleted it to death....it was great!!!

    Is it worth it?????

Queenmum - it's the best thing you can do for yourself, your children and your life!!! I was just banded on 7/31 and it was self-pay, but at 47 yrs. old and one year remaining at the University of Washington, I knew I had to do something, not to mention all the pills I take to keep me going...can't wait to get rid of those sometime down the line!!! It can be a struggle, but the struggle pays big dividends....that much I have learned from this site alone!! So good luck with your decision.....

Phyl, that sounds so yummy right now!! I'm looking forward to being able to be creative in restaurants as well.....yet here I sit, drinking my protein shake....lol My DH calls me a cheap date now........lol
  7. Good luck on your quest to find the right weight loss for you. Making this work is half emotional and keeping in mind it is for you, not for your husband, the other half is the determination to make this tool work in the right way. I just got banded two days ago and I can eat soups and liquids without PMing....I worry for your sister because I've never heard of anyone who kept throwing up everything they ate, beleive me, it would have been a turn off for me also. Good luck!

Good morning - - got banded by Dr. Brad Watkins at the NWWLS and am feeling pretty good for two days out!! I just keep walking.....it definitely helps. Still looking for a support group in the Kitsap area, can anyone help? Thanks, Celeste
  11. Hello....anyone still show up here? Got banded on 7/31 and feeling pretty good except for the pain of all the holes poked in me...lol Still hoping to hear about a support group in the Kitsap county area!! Have a great day!

Good morning.....post op day #2....didn't take any pain meds last night other than ibuprofen and didn't do half bad, slept through the night until about 6:20, got up and showered (now THAT felt heavenly) and did my ritual pill taking...slowly. Still sore as hell, but I'm walking my way through it. Weighed myself this morning and was 1 lb. up from my surgery date, so I wasn't too disappointed in that result. I'm not usually the early bird here, but it's kind of nice to actually run into people...usually I'm here late at night when everyone has already gone off to bed. lol I have to tell you all, despite the pain, I'm so jacked about this band, this tool and what I want it to do in the future. I can actually picture myself as a smaller person and really shopping outside of plus size stores. I'm so looking forward to that!!! Lynette, glad to hear that your computer is now up and running smoothly, nothing more frustrating than not having computer access!! Dini - I think it's cool that you will be going to Florida to get a tattoo from Miami Ink, I watch that show on occasion so remember to say a big hello to all your July banster buddies!!! Celeste

Good afternoon! Today is post-op day 1 and I'm sore, but feeling ok, the gas buildup in my shoulders is almost gone, it was unconfortable, but after doing a lot of walking it was nice to not have it be so evident!! Getting pills down is interesting, I didn't mush them into anything so I actually could feel them going down, weird!! But I made it ok. I've had mostly juices and water, but today I had some tomato soup an it was wonderful.....amazing how the little things taste so good. Wow, Lynette, a fill already? I was told I wouldn't get one until 6 weeks post-op. Glad it went well.... Welcome to all the new bansters...... Celeste

Thanks a lot for the support.....I slept some this afternoon, got up and walked, walked and more walking due to a slight discomfort in my shoulders, but other than that, I just believe how good I feel. I'm not hungry (everyone else BBQ hamburgers around me) and have yet to use the restroom, but other than that, just sore. My doctor called to see how I was doing and I thought that was nice, but I was resting at the time and my sister passed along the message that I was doing pretty good. I just thanked God that I woke up and I knew I could deal with everything that came after.......lol Going to go and rest some more, I'll let you all know how I'm doing tomorrow. Any word from the other 31st bandsters? Hope everyone is doing well and staying happy. Celeste

Hello fellow bandsters - I'm alive and well in Bandsterland!!! Finally!! Everything went smoothly, wasn't nervous or anything, go figure. The surgery took about an hour due to the fact that I had a hernia that they repaired - I got a 2fer....lol, was extremely glad to wake up, but hated the after affects of the anthesia(sp?), felt like I couldn't breath deeply, but the nurse said I was breathing just fine, it eventually went away. I was sore, so I'm on liquid vicodin, so I can't believe I'm actually typing worth a damn, but just wanted to let you all know that I'm sitting on the bench with you all......ttyl, off to sleep! Hello all......well, tomorrow is my big day!!!! Can I just say that I've asked myself over and over, "Am I doing the right thing?" I'm pretty sure it's my head telling me I'm scared.......yet excited!! I'm heading out to my sister's in Everett, which is near the surgery center I have to be at the following morning. It's nice to come here and read all the encouraging posts, whether they are to me or not, because I see all the successes and want to be a success too!! Thanks a lot!! You are all my daily resource for information "Lapband"

Not sure anyone else is up at this time of night, but I just wanted to make my daily posting anyway....... Day 4 of pre-op, didn't do as well as I had been, cheated a little, had a campbell's soup instead of the medifast soup, ate 2 dill pickles and 2 slices of cheese.......along with the medifast shakes and a ton of water and my lean cuisine....now I've confessed, I feel much better!!! lol Jeanie - actually the Cpap machine went better, as I made better adjustments on the head gear, so it fit better. I was able to keep it on for almost 4 hours last night!!! Hopefully every night will improve and it won't be a big irritation to me. Thank you for asking and being so encouraging!!! Sunny - Congrats. on a successful surgery!! Glad you came out feeling pretty darn good....... Lynette - glad the computer is up and running full steam ahead now.....:ranger: Chim - take care now, don't over do it!!! But I do love hearing the excitement in your voice at just how great you do feel only being a few days out, it gives me hope for my upcoming surgery.:tired janiee - that is one strict post-op diet!!! I wish I knew what to say to help you make it through, but I think as you watch the pounds fall way, it will give you the encouragement to see it through to the end!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!:hungry: Got my surgery time - first up on Tuesday morning, 8:00am, bright and early......I'm looking forward to it and not too nervous, I think that is due to all of you on this site, to be able to share your experiences with you, to learn what to do and what not to do has given me a lot of confidence. Thank you all so much!!! Good night......or good morning!!!

dmtjet (Jeanie), Ms.Yackie (Jackie) & Phy - Thanks for the info on the Cpap, I have heard that you do get use to it. My major dislike is that I don't like things covering my face and since they said I sleep with my mouth open, I need the full face mask! I'm hoping one day, when I lose weight, I won't need it at all!! Head hunger, I definitely had it bad today.....I wanted something, anything......tempted by a sandwich, but settled for a dill pickle instead......just wanted something!!! lol NewCC - hope you feel better soon! MsPris - you have to find the road that leads you where you need to get to, if it's bypass and not band, you will do what is right for you. Please stay in touch with this site and let us know!! Brandy - Congratulations on moving on to your final stage before solids...I'm jealous and I haven't even been banded yet.....lol Kathy & Chim - glad to hear that all is well with you both and you came through with flying colors!!! Chim, can't wait to hear about your experience!! Lynette - hope your computer is working better for you!! Nothing worse than feeling like you are cut off from the cyberworld....and this site!!!

I love reading the success stories that flow through here....they are amazing and inspiring to me. Thank you so much. My band day is 7/31, so I've got a few days to go and on day three of my pre-op diet. The hunger is getting less intrusive, but still feel like I think of food an awful lot. Does the head hunger go away after the band or is that still something you have to deal with, can someone answer that for me? Thanks! I had my first night with the Cpap machine, what a pain in the butt....it ruined my sleep because everytime I moved around, air would start escaping from one place or another, plus, I just don't like things on my face!!! I need it for surgery, otherwise I would dump it in a NY minute!! Anyone else having to use this contraption and having issues? Or am I just being whiney for no reason??? lol I'm excited to hear from the new bansters each day, can hardly wait until I can say, "Whoo hoo....I've joined the club!" Gotta go do some remodeling downstairs with my DH before I am no longer able to help him! BBL, Celeste

Kathy - you will be fine!! I think some of the pre-op diets are totally unrealistic and I think we are lucky to be able to even stay 6 days, like you did. Thankfully I only have 7 days, but I get shakes during the day and a small lean cusine for dinner, but it's a big HUGE drop from my usual daily intake and I'm tired of starving.......so I can empathize with you. Good luck tomorrow...... NewCC - I bet there hasn't been one person who hasn't felt like you are....I know that I'm working up to my day and I feel the anxiety BIG TIME......I've never had any surgery and I keep asking myself why I would volunteer to have surgery. But I know it's what I need to do to live longer and enjoy life. You will see that too! Good luck......
