Ruby - sorry to hear about your "sliming".....it sounds real uncomfortable and gives me a big "heads up" about NOT overeating....thanks for sharing!! Cece - I'm happy you got a complement.......they definitely go a long way in keeping us on the road to weight loss success!!!
-
Good morning Jeanie.......sounds like you are gearing back up for school!!! Nope, haven't had the water retention, but then again, I'm only 14 days out, but feeling pretty good!! Have a great day! Celeste
-
Phyl - I totally understand your dilema with your DH, I finally had to tell mine that I don't need the finger wagging, just the support. As Kathy stated, it's YOUR journey and you know what you can handle. I agree though......43 years married.....go celebrate!!!
-
Chim - don't beat yourself up too badly, we've all been there!!! I'm glad to be almost done with mushies (as they've changed the critiera for the AP band) and have enjoyed being able to eat tuna salad, egg salad and the chili I had with just a few tortilla chips last night, I just keep it all small. It's not that I can't eat more, I surely could (I have a 14cc APL band and feel relatively NO restriction whatsoever!) So we all have good and bad days....hang in there!! Ssankofa73 - that avocado/tuna salad sounded heavenly!!! Should post it in the recipe section!! I meant to measure myself before surgery and forgot all about it, I may have my hubby do it even now, it's a good indicator of loss when the scale isn't saying much!! Trudge on Bandbusters!!!! (thanks Lynette) Celeste

The place where I got banded issued a new update for post op care, I was so happy!!! 1 week liquid, 1 week soft foods, 2 weeks solids and then a fill at 4 weeks - this is if you have the new AP band......I'm so happy I don't have to feel like I've been "cheating" my liquid diet by eating tuna or egg salad on crackers now and again. Still on the soup though...now I'm too scared to actually eat anything solid....lol I did make some wonderful crock pot chili today, so who knows, may give it a try.... Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.......it's been a pretty lazy one for me, even though I should be doing some home renovations down in our daylight basement....hard to find the energy for that!!! Celeste

Lynette - not feeling bad at all at your news, I think it's fantastic!!! It's worth the money, but if I could get any of my money back, that would be wonderful also, if not, I'm still going to lose the weight....you enjoy your victory over the insurance company.....lol, so many of us don't!!! Indio, Thanks for the encouragement, sometimes I wonder why I do this to myself, but then have to remember, I'm human and as you say, they only banded my stomach, not my brain..... Sunny, I hear ya about the rolls, looking forward to those finding somewhere else to live!!! lol
-
Lynette - how absolutely exciting!!! I'm self-pay myself and might just have the surgery center submit it, just to see!! I'm so happy for you!! Enjoy your windfall.......:whoo:

Why do we go through the pain of surgery and yet find outself doing things we shouldn't with the band? I'm no saint......I have a pickle fetish...lol and today I had 4 saltine crackers with a little tuna salad on each one....to say the least, it was like eating at a 5 star restaurant (not that I have, it just sounded delicious!! lol).....I'm only 10 days out and suppose to be on creamy liquids, yet I find that my head still wants something......I'm trying to keep in under control, but that head hunger demon rages at me sometimes!! Thanks for letting me vent!!
-
Chim and Jackie - those are great NSV!!! All my clothes are big and stretchy to begin with, so I have not had any of those yet....but look forward to being able to fit the sizes you are talking about!!! AND YES, it's the LAST FAT SUMMER of our lives!!!!
-
Indiogirl - good going on holding out!!!
-
Marcy, I'm totally jealous!!! That is one thing that I do miss so very much about living in Alaska.....the wonderful seafood.....you're making my mouth drool!!!
-
Ruby - my husband is very supportive as well, but, in his "being helpful" he wags his finger at me if I slide and I just can't handle that from him, so I cleared that up and I know he'll do better at just being supportive without all the "help!":)

Glad I could help!!!

You had a post earlier about how much you can eat and not feel sick....I feel like I'm constantly testing my band only 8 days out. I hate that about myself, I've upped my soup intake, but I also ate pickles (love the crunch)....the nurse I saw said not too and yet I do. So to get to your above post, it isn't my mother (she is no longer here), but my husband, I know he thinks he's being helpful, but all I really want is to be able to vent my frustrations and doubts. So I finally had to talk to him tonight and let him know that I will have bad days and that he doesn't have to "solve" my issues, just be encouraging!!! So I'm will you.....

Good afternoon to all --how is your day going? I got some great sleep, am less sore today (8 days out) and feeling pretty good.:bounce: The band I have is a APL (14cc's), it's one of the new bands, but not sure what the difference really is from any other band out there, maybe my doc said less healing time? Not sure..... Have I told anyone since surgery? Not really, since everyone pretty much knew prior to it....lol. It's a big deal and I shared with my family and friend support group.....it's been great so far. Since I had my one week follow up yesterday and the nurse told me to take more liquids for hunger, I have and really feel much better about it. I don't know why I thought I could only have so much each day....crazy.....they shouldn't have told me all this when I was in recovery....my brain was fuzzy.....:notagree

Well, I'm still on liquids for the next week......according to the nurse I saw today, that's a bummer, but what I did discover was that I was under-eating in that department, so that is why I was hungry a lot of the time.....which also give me another 5 lb weight loss.....that I don't feel bad about!!! So I will work hard at dragging myself through another week.....I will survive!!! lol Hello everyone, hope you all are doing well......
-
Sleep well - Lynette!!!

Hello all......the last couple of days have been hard....I'm sick of liquids and have been testing my chewing abilities to see if I can eat or chew something more substantial, but I then feel guilty and return to eating soup and other liquids, feeling like I'm not giving it time to heal properly. This morning I used 1/2 a banana, 1 scoop vanilla creme and a slim fast and mixed it in the bullet...wow, it was good and it has kept me full for hours!!! I think most of it is just head hunger and the fact that I'm being lazy..... My one week follow up tomorrow......keep my fingers crossed that they will allow me to move to mushies!! Forgive - sorry to hear your weight gain, but I would just put it down to water retention of your on-coming "that time of the month".....next week will be a whole new ballgame!! Phyl - Just wanted to say thanks for the heads-up on the group meeting in my area, met two new people who have been banded for a long time and hope to meet more next month!! Lynette - sounds like you love your work and they love you.....that's a great place to be. I can really "hear" the satisfaction in your posts!! Marcy - Doritos? Wow......can those really go down?
-
Sunny - I hear ya.....I always feel like I'm licking my fingers from whatever I cook.......I can hardly wait until I get something other than liquid.......I want to chew!!! lol
-
I just want to suggest to anyone in pain, DON'T take the chewable Tylenol.....yuck......the nasty taste goes on forever........thought I would give them a try, since I bought them, even though I haven't had any problem taking pills. Stupid move on my part!!! lol
-
Wow....I didn't know that the full liquid stage included cottage cheese, refried beans and the like......I wish my diet did. I'm 4 days out and am on liquids only........water, crystal light, soups (strained or blended) and broths. I wish I could help you!!!
-
Good afternoon all....... 4 days out and beginning to feel that liquid is not going to cut it much longer!!! Kim - I don't have a problem telling people about my surgery, I mean I'm not wearing a placard or anything (lol), but most everyone in my life knows and has been supportive. And if they didn't agree, I shrugged and said that it was fine, wasn't looking for approval. I'm too old for that....lol Susa - your post op sounds pretty restrictive!!! As far my list goes, it includes tomato soup or creamed soups (I've even taken chunky soups and added water then blended real well, it's gone down ok). I only had to do "clear" liquids the day after surgery. Hope this helps!!
-
Holly, congrats on being able to shop for smaller sizes!! :clap2: I can't wait.....

When exactly does "bandster hell" begin? I'm only 4 days out and have not felt all that hungry yet, just drinking my shakes and liquid. Maybe it's because I'm still on the sore side of surgery???? I'm hoping that once the discomfort subsides that I won't be hungry still......am I being unrealistic? Probably. I'm so NOT hungry that I'm not having a problem cooking for my DH, but I did tell him that he has to clean up the mess afterwards because I don't want to smell foods lingering.....lol No use tempting fate here.....
-
I love my magic bullet.....easy to use and easy to clean up!! I've taken chunky soups and added a little milk and it purees perfectly!! Much better than a food processor!!! When should I start adding protein powder to things? I'm still drinking the protein drinks......just curious. Thanks..... Hope everyone is doing well today........:biggrin1:
