I had VSG almost a year ago and had my gallbladder out just last week. I was told to go back to my normal bariatric diet after a couple days of "taking it easy"; so that means going back to high Protein 80+/low carb -100. With the exception of the first 2-3 days, I have had no issues with food and the subsequent bathroom issues. The only things you should be having issues with are fatty or greasy foods....which we shouldn't be eating anyway. I've gone back to all my spicy stuff including sriracha on everything and its all good. No problems at all. It is common go to have loose stool for up to a couple months after GB removal since you now have a direct bile line between the liver and intestines....so it constantly drips in and it takes the body some time to get accustomed to that. Luckily mine did it in a few days but as I said, some can take a couple months. Normal bariatric diet is all you need, its just your body may need a longer to adapt is all.

This is my biggest frustration so far. I've lost just about 100 lbs now and I haven't even dropped a full size yet. I've lost bout 7 inches off my waist and bust, but not much off anything else. Guess that is what happens when you start at over 400lbs... I know that the inches will start to melt away soon enough, but it is very frustratng to say I've lost 100lbs but not really see what you think a 100lb loss should reflect.

Cranberry juice is definately the best thing. Ocean Spray Diet Cranberry has the least amount of sugar/carbs in it. (the Diet version, not the Light) It is not a side effect of Sleeve. It is a bacterial infection and can also happen after sex or having a cathetor. I had chronic bladder infections as child but grew out of them at some point. I haven't had one in a couple decades I don't think. Lots of Water and/or cranberry juice can clear it up. If it lasts more then 4 or 5 days or becomes too painful, seek medical assistance to get a minor antibiotic.

no periods still-5 months post op
Jolls replied to aillahis's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is fairly common. Our cycles are very touchy and the stress the body goes through and all the changes effects it and our hormones. Some people have it for 2 months straight... you heard me... HAVE IT FOR 2 MONTHS STRAIGHT. Can you even imagine! Our bodies are fickle things. I had mine about 2 weeks pre-surgery and didn't get it again till very recently, at 3 months post. Definately keep monitoring it and it certainly would not hurt to bring it up to a doc, but it is pretty common to be abnormal after surgery. -
Yes that is very very common with eating too fast or with dense proteins (meat) or rice/pasta. Feels like it is trying to push through the bottom of your throat!

How long we're you out of work?
Jolls replied to No Day But Today's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work from home, desk job. I took 2 weeks off but easily could have went back after a few days. -
Not even 2wks out n only have lost 11.3lbs
Jolls replied to emr80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't lose anything at all right after surger yand infact, the scale claims I gained 2lbs in the first two weeks right after surgery.... and that was only eating 400 cal a day! I was freaked out at first too until I read around on these types of forums and found that it is normal to either not lose any/not lose much is the first few weeks. Very shortly after I had shown that gain it all started dropping off. Now I'm 2 month out and am down 44lbs since surgery. It will start to melt away, just hang in there!! -

11 weeks post-op....When does the heartburn stop...?
Jolls replied to rmeofone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not only do liquids pass through much more quickly, they do not expand your stomach (giving that full feeling) like food does. So what you describe in relation to liquid vs food is very typical. I never had acid reflux or hearburn prior to surgery so this has been a whole new experience for me. I'm 2 months post-op and the first 3 weeks I had reflux often. I took a Pepcid every day. Since then it has gotten much better. I probably take a Pepcid about 4x a week now instead of every day and sometimes just plain ol' Tums will take care of it. -
I want to know honest calorie intake

My NUT just said to be around 1000 cal as of my 6 week checkup. I just don't get that much in. It's not that I'm calorie counting either, cause I'm not. I just go for the Protein and let the calories fall where they may... which seems to be around 800 for me. -
I want to know honest calorie intake
Jolls replied to lwilliams65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 months out and average about 750-850 calories a day. Once in a while (usually when I'm not eating at home) I'll make it up to 1000 cal. -
