Hey!! I'm doing great. My surgery was May 7th and I've lost 60 pounds. I still have 60 more pounds to go !!! I feel good and hope I'll begin to feel less "big". I've healed well and am working and studying full time. Good luck :-). -
Ok- I'm three months out and have been in pain for almost 6 days. The pain is from under my ribs all the way to my leg joint and around to my hip and back only on the left side. I have had some BMs but not a lot. I did have a yeast infection that got treated but not sure what else is going on. The pain is constant especially when I move and walk. Any ideas?? I don't have insurance and would be forced to go to the ER so I'm trying to avoid it. I'm drinking low sugar cranberry juice, and taking Tylenol but not much relief ... Not sure what to do. ?

How fast do you drink your protein shakes?
Denn replied to artymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really hate the premixed ones, but I have found that Isopure (carb free) hasthe least fake sugar taste for me. You could try unlavored and then add vanilla extract, a tiny bit of powdered peanut butter or other flavoring to get it down. These shakes have been my life saver so I won't stop drinking them! -

Actually not really, Sometimes I add a few ice cubes and it waters it down a bit. The sippy cup helps because I can't "smell" it, and that's half the battle. I also get creative and make it with iced coffee, iced chai tea, and once in a while add a banana. I like putting PB2 and cinnamon in it as well. I have unflavored, chocolate, banana cream, espresso, and vanilla flavors so i won't get bored! I drank much faster after surgery and after about week three i noticed i slowed down quite a bit. I usually try to have it as I drive to work and/or walk to class so i'm distracted as well- lol -
Loving my sleeve- still have a long way to go!!!

I use unsweetened almond milk as well. And one scoop I protein. But I only use 4 ounces per shake. It takes me a about 30 minutes to drink it from my sippy cup. -

Lol. I've never been asked that!! I just follow what my doctor said. I have a hard time eating but push to have 800 calories a day which hardly happens. I drink a Protein shake almost every morning. I eat Proteins and veggies and portion out all my food two days at a time. Everything eat gets counted and input into the Lose It app and I wear a fit bit. I try to hit at least 10,000 steps a day but usually go for more. I don't eat carbs such as rice, bread, or Pasta and avoid sliders like the plague. I finally stated working out and am using Couch to 5K app. It's hard but I'm trying. I listen to inspirational music and talks and write down positive letters to myself. Finally I am seeing a counselor and have asked friends and family to be there for me. Being vulnerable isn't bad- it's human!!! I still have a long long way to go. Just felt inspired to share since I'm at the same weight I was when I was 16 and I'm 31 now!!! BTW - I ask for tips and any ones advice and sift them for me :-)

Has anyone actually purchased/used a sippy cup?
Denn replied to pinkowl00's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I asked and was told its ok. Sippy cups have a valve that traps air. It hasn't hurt me at all. -

Yep!! I have four sippy cups and I love them. Three are the six ounce size and one is the ten ounce size. I use them at University and don't care if anyone stares :-)!!! They actually help get protein shakes down faster because I can't "smell" what's in the cup and I'm the cup it doesn't feel like such a big task. Also I can shake them if stuff separates. Love them. -
Average loss with the sleeve is 60% of excess weight?!?!
Denn replied to Nicolanz's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks Melissa!!! I went to the gym and my body feels yucky but I feel amazing !!! I am 5'1" so pretty short. If I got to 160 and that's it I would be grateful - but I want more. My highest BMI range would be at 130- so that's why it doesn't seem so far out for me to imagine lol!!! I am more determined than ever to do this- wish me luck. -

Ok- so when I started I was 246- about 234 on the day of surgery. I'm nine weeks out and am 198/196 so I've lost approximately 50 pounds. My doctor told me that I could reach 180-160 but that's about it. My goal weight is 130lbs...is that reasonable, is it possible ? I haven't done much exercise- is that going to hinder me? I have no clue where to set my goal and these stalls are getting old. -
Besides weight loss, what has been the biggest benefit since getting surgery?
Denn replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Besides weight loss is beating diabetes. I had an A1C of 14+ and now I'm at 6. I was injecting four times a day and on high blood pressure and high cholesterol medications and I'm off all that. I also had a high white blood cell count that was causing inflammation in my legs- that is slowly resolving itself as well. I can go up and down stairs easily at school and not sound like a donkey in heat when I reach class. Most of my clothes are gone and gonna go shopping soon!!! I eat small amounts and save money and have more confidence and self esteem ... Best decision for me. -
I used a pillow pet !!! It was fun and comfortable. I used it to prop up my IV hand and under my shoulder at other times. I got cold easily in the beginning so I placed on too my stomach as well.

I was sleeved by Dr Q on May 7th. So far I've lost 47 pounds. But best of all is my overall health. I've beat diabetes - no more 4 shots a day, I no longer have high blood pressure or high cholesterol. I also had a high white blood cell count that was worrying my doctors- that also is slowly going down. My experience with him was great. They treated me and my dad well and I was never sick or nauseated. I had very little pain and started walking as soon as I woke up the next day. I have to admit that I was nervous but so far everything is good. My incisions have healed well and over time I think they'll be invisible. I am in the middle of the pack - not losing to fast or to slow but that's ok - it took me 31 years to get fat - a few years to lose isn't too bad. The coordinators are great and so was the staff. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I don't work for them- just really happy with my experience.
