I've got to agree with this. It took me a long time to wrap my ahead around the idea that I did not NEED to snack at all the usual events -- movies, baseball games, theatre intermissions...
As a fatty, the idea seemed ludicrous, but now, I can easily go 2-3 hours without eating.
Now that said... when I was in my first 6-12 months post op, I had a real problem getting in enough protein so I felt like I had to eat constantly. I smuggled in cheese sticks, beef Jerky, almonds, individual hummus cups, babybels... (some of these obviously not soft).
If you don't need to snack, get out of the habit, if you do, cheese is always a great answer.
