  1. I'm a little over three years out and water still thunks in my stomach like lead. I infuse it with fruit or cukes, add a splash of fruit juice, squeeze a lemon in or mix it with Gatorade. I don't like the drops much anymore, but if they are my only option, I just need one or three. I don't do a whole serving. I just need to change the water a little bit to keep the nauseousness away.
  2. So, click on the profile of the person/people you don't like, look over to the right and click BLOCK. It's magical.

Good suggestion. I remember a thread in which vets complained about newbies being "so overly sensitive". Some vets seem to be quite sensitive and easily offended, too, as I have noticed during the last weeks. Sensitive? Nope. Gun shy? Tired of getting called names or accused of being bullies? Yes. Fed up with people coddling others in ways that could be seriously detrimental to their health and their weight loss? Absolutely. Of course, I am only speaking for me.
  4. Every word of your post was on point, but THESE words... These are the words that don't seem to be clicking. It scares me at times. This is why I am a "mean girl" and a "bully" and an "a--h0le". Cheat on WWs. Cheat on Jenny Craig. Don't cheat on your surgeon. It could be life and death, people.
  5. That's definitely been my motto around here lately!! Do what you want, get what you get. If it works for you -- AWESOME! If it doesn't, choose to change it or don't. Not my circus, not my monkeys. Oh, and you forgot the popcorn.
  6. In turn, I'm quite appalled that I have had to read multiple times from different users something like the following: "Oh, they're eating pizza/steak/bacon/whatever three days post op/one week post op/during puréed/whenever. They lived/they're fine/KUDOS!/they deserved the treat/etc.". No, not everyone is perfect, but no, not everyone "cheats" (hate that word). Does any *deserve* to fail? Heck no! Does everyone deserve exactly the results they achieve by the choices they make? Hell yeah! One bag of popcorn, one piece of bacon, one 20oz steak two weeks post op (remember that one?) won't "undo" a sleeve or a bypass or a band. Giving those choices positive reinforcement, however, only encourages future poor choices not only to the offender but to people who are lurking, researching, and struggling to stay on plan. What a disservice this is to the greater WLS community. And to what risk? At best -- recurring cravings, failure to maximize weight loss. At worst, a rupture or a leak. (You know, that surgeon who regrets doing surgery on a non-compliant patient has the right to be pissed. If you spring a leak because you ate off plan, his/her medical license/reputation/surgical stats are at risk, not to mention medical malpractice investigation and insurance nightmares.) Best advice? Take what YOU need, leave the rest. Follow the vets/newbies you love, block the ones you despise. People communicate in 100s of different ways and not everyone is going to be "blessings and warm fuzzies". On the other hand, not everyone who is giving "tough love" is doing it to be mean or hateful or to be a "bully". It's tough LOVE, not tough HATE. Only YOU choose how to interpret tone. I choose not to be offended when I am asking for real advice. I also choose to be offended when someone coddles me when I know I screwed up, so there's that. (It's my opinion that the biggest problem is those who stalk profiles, or troll the boards looking to "back up" people where no "back up" is needed until they come along with a big fat spoon. )

  14. @@Candygyrl My best advice (and something I need to remind MYSELF of because I often reply without reading)? If the thread is more than 3-5 pages long, STOP. READ. COMMENT. I don't disagree with your initial thoughts or your right to express yourself, just sayin' if the thread is long, it's usually a bit ... uhm ... stormy!?! Best to you!

    Hot Dogs?

I think a big part of success is -absolutely- figuring out your issues and what's a slider for you and so on. In my particular case (can't speak for others) treating myself and being adventurous wasn't my problem, nor was emotional eating.. my problem was portion control. I didn't have the self control to shrink my stomach the normal way, and even though I could stop when I was full, it took a sickening amount of food to -get- me full. Endless cycle. I knew the sleeve would help me after researching it because not only did it give me a small new stomach to start over with (as the problem of a stretched out stomach I had already acquired by age 7 before I knew better) and helped take out some of the ghrellin so I don't feel ravenously hungry all the time. My real battle will likely be when my restriction is less as my body adjusts - a year or so down the road. But I'm hoping it wont' actually be a battle because I'll have learned to be satisfied with small portions and learned some healthier habits - and the ghrellin will still be gone. Either way.. there are certain choices I would never make - like you not treating yourself or being adventurous - because I know they would cause me problems. This just wasn't one of them. I try to stay aware of what issues led me to where I was.. and what to do to avoid them Ahhh... But there is a BIG difference between a treat once you've hit goal and maintenance vs. during your soft foods phase. You gotta learn those healthy habits before you use them automatically.
  21. Oh good! Hungover AND popcorn! Good for you!Yeah, good for me. I'm 28.. I choose to live my life. OH WOW I've had popcorn and a few drinks.. I'm going to fail, I forgot you were a doctor, and weren't just a person with your story, and what you did. My mistake. I've seen you on these boards and your general attitude.. Don't come for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I was on your side!! What did I miss? LMFAO don't. Just don't. I woke up clearly on the wrong side of the bed, and the poster before you was being sarcastic.. And I thought you were doing the same. I'm sorry if I misread it =] Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App You do you! You know your body best.
