  2. LipstickLady

    In ONE WORD...

You can! And you did!! How's the wedgie? Lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Much better. I had a wedgie in a Panera in front of an old mens' club. I didn't want to alarm them. I do like a spanking, though. Yes, I do.

Well, @Cervidae made me rethink my response because hers was so good and thoughtful! :-) I'll think of something!

I love the fact that I am one of those parents who truly remembers what it was like to be a kid/teen and I can easily imagine life in m.y later years, so I bond well with both groups. Now, those other freaks in the middle...LOL Empathy. My greatest trait.

    Beating yourself up nutritionally speaking

Life is too short for small sausages.

Drinking liquids AFTER a protein shake

I was told to wait. Not only is it good practice, but you want that protein' to stay in your system as long as possible. I'm no doctor, though!!

    Which blender should I get?

I got a bullet and returned it because it was hard to clean. (Not THAT kind, the blender kind. I love my THAT kind.) Bought a Ninja thinking it would do more. Returned it because I didn't use it for anything my blender couldn't do. Bought a food' processor. Returned it. Too many pieces. I used my regular old blender a few times, and my immersion blender much more often because it was easier to clean. I needed a blender for all of three weeks and I didn't need another appliance on my counter. Don't over buy. You won't need half the crap you think you do.

    Beating yourself up nutritionally speaking

I think you did fine! I don't worry about fat, I worry about carbs. My out on the run breakfasts? Bacon egg and chees'e biscuit at Chick Filet. Ask them to make it in a bowl and they will leave off the biscuit. McD's sausage cheese' $1 McMuffin. Take off the top (or the bottom, whichever is bigger). Sonic's Junior bacon, egg' and cheese' burrito, insides only. Wawa's breakfast' bowls are customizable. Ham and cheese' slices at any market's deli counter. Make your own roll ups in the car. (I do this at lunch', too. I add a few pepper or onion strips from the salad' bar for variety. Costs pennies.) Beef Jerky' and a cheese' stick from a convenience store. (Most of them around these parts carry good quality protein' bars' and shakes' nowadays, too!)
  14. Good for you. On my "goal board", I asked the nurse to write WALKING TOOTS. My only goals while I was in the hospital were to get in my 10k steps and get the gas out. It worked. And yes, they all laughed at me.
  15. My new nightly snack is 1/4 small apple, 3-4 cuts of cheddar, and a Dove dark promise. Perfection on a (little) plate.

    Weight regain 42%?

If WLS only "lasts" 9-12 months, surely it wouldn't be approved by ANY insurance company says logic... It's a tool, if used correctly, that can serve you a lifetime. You gotta do your part.
  17. That's my go to store for lattes and beans when I'm out of my home roasted. They are phenomenal and only about 5 minutes from my house. If you're downtown look for Alchemy on Broad near vcu - broad and goshen maybe? Easily the best preparation and mug in Richmond. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Yup!

Negative comments - not "fat enough"?

I'm not stupid enough to listen to some people's opinions.
  19. I really liked the Carb Advantage shakes' found at Sam's and Walmart as far as protein'. Dark chocolat'e was the least sweet, IMO. http://abbottnutrition.com/brands/products/advantedge-carb-control-ready-to-drink
  20. @@TheRev Have you been to Abdibo on Midlothian? Roasted Beans on site, delicious brews.

    Sushi after surgery?

I am stuck at 2-3 oz of firm protein'. I can do four or five if it is light like crab legs, but tuna, chicken, beef? Nope.

I can see all of mine. Just sayin!

Pre/Post Surgical Plans Are Not Required

Great point! Perhaps if people were more compliant with their post surgical plans and most likely, more successful, the insurance companies would be more willing to pay for WLS as a rule instead of as an exception. My BFF's husband works for a medical supply company. He goes to hospitals and sells/trains buyers on equipment like airbeds, lift scales, maximum duty wheelchairs -- all made for the super morbidly obese. His medical insurance won't cover WLS because the cost doesn't justify the results. Seriously, WTF!?!?
  25. Happy Birthday @Dub ! I've never fancied a man who wears boots before and I hate heavy metal, but with the grill in the background and a spatula in your hands, you are the hottest redneck on the interwebz in my book. <3 XXXOOO Come and collect 'em!!
