high protein tofu from trader joes
LipstickLady replied to pottergirl's topic in Vegetarian, vegan, raw foods
So in 6 weeks, wanna come over and make it for me? I have a hard time making something I've never eaten because I have no idea if I am doing ti right. -
Sounds yum! I cook my meatloaf in a muffin pans so that they are cupcake sized. They cook much faster and everyone gets one with mashed tater "icing" and gravy "drizzle". They freeze fabulously at this size and make great individual quick meals. I think I will try these in my mini muffin pan so I can pop myself out one or two once I get to full food stage. My kids will love the bacon in them!

Newbie and Getting Sleeved TODAY....
LipstickLady replied to QueenAmandy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
YAY YOU!! I am four days post op and I will be honest and tell you that day 2 sucks butt. If you can stay in the hospital, do. I left day one and while I am fine, I was absolutely useless as home. I am fortunate to have low maintenance kids who can look after themselves at 13 and 15, but if you aren't in the same situation, stay a day longer and let them take care of you. Keep us posted on how you do! -

I understand that tofu tastes like whatever it is marinated in, but what is the texture like? I am so scared to try it when it is my time. -
MUST.REMEMBER.NOT.TO.GULP.
LipstickLady replied to LipstickLady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't think I can do that. I am an overachiever so if I set a deadline, I am going to beat it by half. Not such a nice feeling. HA! -

EHHRMAGHERD.... It sucks that you still can't gulp that far out. I've always been a Water *****. After all the years of WWs, I learned to get 64 oz down in an hour or less. This is going to be a hard habit to break. -

Chuffed to beans? I LOVE THAT!! Good for you. I can't wait to follow in your footsteps. -
Crushed. Ice?
LipstickLady replied to sassygirl055's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ice chips were great immediately post op, but the cold had me gurgling like a demon on day 1 post op. I was forced to switch to warm because of the swelling. -
Read the thread and there was no mention of avocados or nut unavailability. Sorry for the input!

Just curious, but if you aren't a smoker, why did you choose to start an e-cig?

Mirena IUD vs. Birth control pills
LipstickLady replied to Red_lips_and_confidence's topic in The Gals' Room
I've had my Mirena for 8 years. It didn't hurt going in but it did a little coming out when it was changed. Love it. I have little to to periods. My massive cramping is gone and my skin is clear. I wouldn't trade it for the world. -

Peanut butter? Avocado? Nuts?

Nothing with seeds for sure. Consult your NUT first.

Doesn't the cauliflower make you gassy?

What you wish you knew before the sleeve
LipstickLady replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A good friend had this surgery a year ago. She orders all her meals "to go", asks for a plate and serves herself only what she can eat. It's very empowering, plus, she gets to do all the talking while everyone else is eating. -
Well, my husband may be SOL in the blowie department. My gag reflex is hyper sensitive now.

Hospital gown, or bring your own
LipstickLady replied to ccrim03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hospital gown. I leaked all over it from the incision. I took a robe, but it was too hot so I finally succumbed to the ugly that is a Johnny and wore a second one backwards. I would have worn pants, but I had a catheter. (So fun to pee and walk at the same time! I felt VERY manly.) Beware of chub rub if you can't wear pants. I swear I almost rubbed up a fire trying to walk the gas out. They called me Speedy Gonzalez on the hall because I was lapping everyone trying to form up a butt trumpet. -
I'm drinking! I'm drinking! I'm drinking!
LipstickLady replied to LipstickLady's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am post op three days. Right now I am "enjoying" a lovely cup of chicken broth from a Trader Joe packet. Yum? I've had almost 30 oz of liquid, non calorie, and half a Protein shake. I am so full I can barely see straight and I burp with every sip to get it to go down. How bizarre. I feel like a toilet with a big flapper that moves just a enough to let a little go down at once. (My real thought on this is much more graphic, but I will spare you. You're welcome.) -

An ounce can be 6-10 sips. Or more.... -

LipstickLady replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am only three days post op, but I really wish I had realized how serious it is to learn to sip not gulp. It was incomprehensible to me that it would take an hour to drink four ounces but it's real. That's all I have to offer so far! -
do you wear anything on the surgery table

Listerine breath strips won't even cover it. I keep sniffing around for that foul smell and then I realize.....IT'S ME!!
