sipping vs gulping
LipstickLady replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! What did the doc say? -
I had my first post-op appointment. And my liver results are in!

Nope. Mine is Erin. I like Paige better all of a sudden. -
With every weight loss plan I've done, I've done great until I was in a long stall or maintenance. It was really easy to slip back into old habits and the weight came back plus a few of it's friends. Now, my stomach is altered for life and even if I want to eat more, I can't. For me, this was the only way to go. I just can't put my body through another yo-yo diet and I want to get healthy. The physical restriction is fantastic and exactly what I need at this stage in life. I am sure whatever you decide is what will work best for you. Good luck!

sipping vs gulping
LipstickLady replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could cause vomiting which would dehydrate you more. I asked this same question at my 2 week post op today because summer is here and I am always thirsty now. Sipping is safer. Don't chance irritating your new sleeve causing you not to be able to even sip efficiently. -

Ok, that's just gross. -
I am planning on the applesauce pouches, individual hummus cups, yogurts, string cheese... Take a look at this blog. She has great ideas! http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ Search for her bento box ideas. They look fabulous!

I was originally told 4-6 weeks post op. I had my two week appointment today and was given clearance as my incisions are completely healed over. WOOOOT! Can't wait to swim a few laps!! She did say slow and easy, though. She doesn't want a lot of core twisting. I am thinking I will kick laps for the next week or so and see how that goes.

Is ok to eat a taco. Soft or hard?
LipstickLady replied to krystalt313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd have the pintos and cheese, minus the onions and red sauce. Or, as Laura suggested, eat the filling and not the shell. That should be more than plenty, right? -
Great! I will find one. Thank you.

My husband doesn't find it funny.

Ahhhhh! Does it help reduce the air? My blender adds so much foam, it's painful.

I've used the words blender and balls in the same sentence but I'm pretty sure it wasn't in this context! What is a blender ball??

Are chicken bouillon cubes okay if I can't find Kosher chicken broth?

I just follow the directions and sip! -

Your Protein should be whey, not pork or beef. Found this: http://www.koshervitamins.com/Vitamins-Supplements-Protein-Powders-Bars-Kosher-Whey-Protein-powder -

Oh, and my Kroger carries that brand as well as food lion. I don't know what groceries you have but it's not an uncommon brand. Kroger has a large kosher section, but I am completely ignorant about how all that works for you. Where do you live? If you like it, I am sure I could stuff a whole priority box full of them for $5 in shipping and save you a ton of $$. -

LipstickLady replied to MumtazG38's topic in Food and Nutrition
I use natural unflavored protein powder but you can't overheat it or it gels. BARF! I have no idea about the kosherness (is that a word?) of protein powder at all! I don't do broth for protein, I do it for savory. I can't take all the sweet. Unjury makes a chicken flavored protein powder that people like, I just can't justify the cost since this phase is so short. -

Look for chicken BASE. It's tastier and I found my favorite brand in Kosher. http://www.amazon.com/Superior-Kosher-Chicken-Base-8-Ounce/dp/B00474L2TI -

If I can eat a 6" subway at 5 months, how much at a year? :(
LipstickLady replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you like subway and you must have it, ask for it scooped. They will take the guts out of the bread for you saving you a ton of calories and carbs! -
Why do people make this commitment, risk their lives on a surgery table and then...
LipstickLady posted a topic in Rants & Raves
Refuse to realize the importance of following their surgeon's orders? If my doctor tells me to stand on my head and consume only pork rinds for a month, I'm going to do it. If he tells me to drink only purple and pink sparkly liquids for a month, I'm going to do it. Doctors don't just make this crap up to be sadists, they do it for a reason. Yes, we know our bodies better, but they know the health of our new pouches better. Can they be wrong? Sure! Can they be overly cautious? Without a doubt! Can leaks happen anyways? Unfortunately. That said, I am going to follow the instructions given and not come here seeking permission to do differently. I am certainly not going to get pissy when people tell me to follow doctor's orders. What's the point? Phew. I feel so much better. -
Sippy top for water bottle
LipstickLady replied to NuLife4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought two camelback eddy insulated bottles. One is for shakes, the other is for liquids. They hold 20oz, don't sweat and keep my drinks cold. -
Hummus, avocado, scrambled eggs with cheese, baby bell cheese or laughing cow wedges, egg salad, moist fish, canned chicken... Can you tell I'm looking forward to my change over tomorrow?

SICK, STILL SICK, CONTINUE TO BE SICK...SERIOUSLY AM I THE ONLY PERSON ON HERE WHO HAS BEEN SICK ALMOST THE ENTIRE TIME SINCE GETTING SLEEVED?
