  1. I have gel toes and acrylic finger nails. The fingers are clear so they were fine and they didn't care about the toes. I called before hand and asked!
  2. Wait! This isn't the easy way out? But everyone told me it was! Not fair! To the OP. It does suck, but you will get through. Post op 16 days here and I could go days without eating easily now. It's a bizarre phenomenon to go from eating like a fat girl to forcing yourself to get in 200 calories practically overnight. You can do it!
  3. Have you double checked which ensure you are supposed to have? We were told Ensure HIGH protein with 210 cal, 23 protein, 25 carbs 400 calcium. There are so many Ensures, it's easy to get them confused.
  4. Dannon light and fit Greek 2x the protein. Vanilla. It's good and has a lo of protein in a 5.3 oz serving.

Buyer's remorse? 6 days post op

My doc told me to concentrate on liquids the first week or so and not worry about protein. Two weeks out and I still can't do both. My thoughts are that you are so full on protein, you don't have room for liquid. Try getting in some water or Gatorade first, protein later. It's so important that you not get dehydrated or you will be back in the hospital.
  6. I started mine a month early because I was tired of being fat. I didn't want to get bigger before surgery and have more to lose after. I wanted to go into this as healthy as I could possibly be and I wanted to make sure that my mind was ready for smaller portions. I also wanted to find shakes that I could tolerate and explore options such as Protein Bars that I could eat post op. I am SO glad I did. No food funeral here, I was not in mourning. I know that I will be able to have all my favorite foods eventually, as will you, just in smaller, healthier portionsand to be honest, I hope my favorite foods turn into healthier things. I mean really...WHY would anyone with any intelligence choose processed food to be a "favorite" when there are so many delicious REAL food choices? (I am totally slamming myself here.) I lost 20 pounds preop and the choices I made have set me up for success post op as well. I am thrilled that I started early. You have little choice if you want to make it to the operation table. Rejoice in the fact that your condition levels were discovered before it's too late and start your journey to health now. You can't regret that, right?

It's so easy to get discouraged

You can't win if you don't play.
  10. I am 15 days post op. I can either get in 40 oz of liquid or 40 grams of protein a day, not both. I can barely get in 300 calories. I didn't make a poop for 15 days, 3 of them pre op. I think you are doing great.
  11. Last I checked, "being smart about it" includes following directions. Different surgeons use different techniques, methods and different sized bougies. My surgeon has never had a leak. Because of that, I am going to leave my fate i his hands, not the hands of a bunch of strangers on a WLS board who have no idea about my body.

Walk it out. That's the only way. Use a heating pad, too.

    anyone forget to feed others?

I have a house in Nags Head, NC if y'all fancy the beach. It sleeps 8 and seafood is high in Protein so we could go out, order dinner and all share it.

    anyone forget to feed others?

There is a big diff between using sex as a weapon and not wanting to have sex with someone because you don't like them very much at the time. I've been with my husband for 20 years as of this July, married for 18 of them. Just like all married couples, we've had our ups and downs. During our ups, there is a lot of hanky panky, during our downs, not so much. I always love him, but I don't always like him and I have no doubt he feels the same way about me at times. I am far too old to use sex as a weapon, but if I'm not feeling it, I'm not giving it away either.

I went on strike for this once, too. Went away with my bestie for a three day weekend and made the family swear not to help. Didn't precook, no laundry, didn't clean or grocery shop. No sex for the weeks before, either. He figured out how much I do pretty fast. I go away with my friends 2 times a year for four day weekends to keep it fresh, too.

    Frozen yogurt - pureed stage

Our fro yo place has nutritionals posted and they have frozen Greek. Since you serve yourself, you can make a teeny portion and enjoy.

    chinese food

I usually get steamed shrimp and veggies with sauce on the side. That was pre-sleeve, too! I ate soggy, greasy veggies and too much sauce makes me gag. When I get salad with meat, I ask for the meat on a separate plate so I can eyeball the amount. No starch, double steamed veggies. Sandwiches are requested with bread on the side. Meal boxed to go and a plate so I can serve my own portion.
  18. You aren't a bad person but you also aren't going to find too much support here for going against doctor's orders. I figure I've eaten enough for two people for 41 years, in a few months I'll be able to eat anything I want again, I can certainly sacrifice for a few weeks if it means good healing and a great start to my new lifestyle. Good luck to you.

    anyone forget to feed others?

Did you tell him to read your mind right after he said that?

    anyone forget to feed others?

I told my kids to make a list on any and all food or snacks we might need as I have NO WAY of knowing what we are out of. If they don't, not my problem.

Don't you just love the inequality?

Aren't we just little miss fancy pants?

Don't you just love the inequality?

My BMI was 46 and I have BCBS. I only had to do a three month diet plan. As stated above, it depends on the package your company chooses. My bestie has a higher BMI than I and she has BCBS. Her insurance won't cover it at all.

  24. I thought they were going to kill me with the wait! I've been calling and calling and calling with no results. When I had my surgery two weeks ago, the doctor removed a 2"x 2" piece of my liver because there was a mass on it. They were fairly certain it wasn't cancerous but of course, had to send it away. At my appointment today, the NP couldn't tell me what the mass was, but that it wasn't cancer or anything else to worry about. They removed the entire mass and I really don't even need to see a specialist in the future (but I will). I have lost 36 pounds to date and I am a happy girl! I have graduated to soft mushy foods. Imagine my surprise when the NP said I could now have yogurt and pudding, something the NUT said I could have as part of my full liquids. The NP did say that she is personally much more conservative than the NUT, but no biggie. She did tell me to go get a cup of KFC mashed taters and gravy (individual) and see how that went down. After three weeks of shakes, pudding and yogurt, it was a dream come true. I ate the cup in thirds and could definitely tell when I had one lick too many. Won't do that again. Yes, I am so classy, I no longer eat my food, instead, I lick it off the back of a baby spoon. Wonder how many boys I can pick up with this stunning new habit.
