Best Post-Surgery Habit
LipstickLady replied to light_lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not much of a veteran, but I do know the best thing I've EVER done on any healthy eating plan is tracking. Find an app that you love and track everything, food, drink AND exercise. I weigh and measure my portions 90% of the time, which is really helpful when I am away from home and can't do it. It's almost a game for me at this point. I portion out my food, guess the portion and then weigh it to see how close I am. I'm really good at it after all these years at WWs, Some people find this practice tedious, almost as if I am food policing myself. That said, to me, it's empowering because I am taking control of my consumption. Still able to eat what I enjoy, in moderation, with no guilt. -
help im sick.. surgery is tomorrow!

You will be absolutely fine. Take a small firm pillow to hold against your tummy so that you have it when you need to cough and on the way home. It helps a LOT. -
Dermabond falling off already?

I had a severe cold the morning of my surgery and did fine. I did ask if I could take meds and was allowed Tylenol up to the morning of surgery but don't follow in my foot steps without asking first. The doctor wasn't worried about my cough at all. In fact, he said the cough would help me clear out my lungs faster but I can tell you, it didn't feel good at all. I will say I was on the backside of the cold when I went in, so that was a plus, but call in the morning and explain. You may be fine, you may have to push it off for a few days. Either way, your health is of utmost importance and your surgeon will make the right decision for you. -
Will i loose my big girls?
LipstickLady replied to chibabyy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different. Some people lose their boobs first and some people don't. I had 36dd's when I was a size 2/4 and 110 pounds. I've lost 50 pounds and I am losing band size but not cup size. When you gain, where do you gain? When you were of a more healthy weight, did you have big boobs? Wherever you gained it last, you will lose it first. Things won't snap back to where they were in your teens, but every pound list, no matter where from is a pound healthier for you! -
If a patient and a doctor want to have a relationship, it only makes sense and is ethical that the doctor breaks off the professional relationship immediately BEFORE entering into one of personal/sexual nature. That's the bottom line.

Thank you! It's good to know what's coming.

Laura. Just curious since you are so much farther out than I am. How much food can you consume in one sitting? I don't mean cheap liquor and expensive chocolate either.
-
Girl, everything about me is fussy.

I used skim milk to make them looser and scrambled them REALLY soft set. Some people have success adding cheese, too. Me? Not so much. They came right back up. I can eat cheese alone and eggs alone, but not together.

I, for one, appreciate then topics staying because I am far too old to be censored. That said, closing them would NOT be a bad idea. Thank you for all you admins do!

3 days post op and miserable
LipstickLady replied to jjh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. Sounds about right. This will pass. Day three was the worst, in my opinion. Walk, sip, sleep, walk, sip, sleep, walk sip, sleep. You will feel much better in a few days. I am seven weeks out today and I still take nausea meds from time to time as a preventative because I've learned the warning signs for it coming on. You are perfectly normal. Hang in there, keep your chin up and look forward to your new future! -
And here I was thinking I could float because I had mad swimming skilz...

The bad and the ugly
LipstickLady replied to Autumnrain1908's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am seven weeks out today. The good? I've lost weight and inches and I feel in control. This is the first time that I have ever made the commitment to really lose weight and been "forced" to stick with it. I've been blessed with the absence of hunger 95% of the time so that makes things SO much easier. Even through the bad, I know that I have no choice but to stick to my plan because of the surgical removal of my stomach. Because of that, I am more apt to stay on track and make good choices. The bad? I am a Water drinker. Not being able to throw back a 20oz bottle of water in a minute is killing me in this heat and with the exercise I like to do. I suggest you get into the habit NOW of sipping water. Until you have this surgery, you have no idea how difficult it is, it's truly impossible to describe. It's also been very difficult to slow down and take teeny bites. Get used to that now as well. I thought the idea of buying baby utensils was ridiculous, but it works. I haven't bought a sippy cup nor will I, but the little forks and spoons are fantastic. Stalls suck donkey butt, but keep in mind that although they will happen sooner than you would like and last longer than they should, they will pass. I weigh myself every day, several times a day but I do not beat myself up about the number on the scale. If you know you will, put the scale away. It will only cause heartache and frustration. This was the best choice of my life (besides my kids) and I do wish I had done it sooner. My life will never be what it was again, but that said, that wasn't exactly a healthy life, so I am not missing out on anything. Good luck to you! -

There is nothing as good as a good.....
LipstickLady replied to Cheer Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am totally with you. I finally learned that at 7 weeks out tomorrow, I MUST MUST MUST use baby utensils. After a bite or three, I get up, walk around the living room to work out a burp and then I can eat a few more bites. I was running to the bathroom to vomit for the first 6 weeks after two to three bites and that was miserable. I think I was eating too fast or too big of bites. If a burp is really stuck, I've learned to go to the bathroom, lean over the sink and cough. A huge DISGUSTING burp erupts and everything is golden again. -
Problems drinking water...
LipstickLady replied to itsabouttime2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tolerate different temperatures on a varying basis throughout the day. In the AM, it must be room temp. Mid day, I can do ice cold. Evening, refrigerator cold is OK, but no ice. It's weird.
