Belly Button incision - anyone else?
LipstickLady replied to Oakleygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's most likely a glue clump that got some fuzz stuck to it. Happened to me with my gall bladder. -
I've been very naughty.....

First and foremost, I am so sorry to hear your news. I hope that everything turns out to be just fine and I will keep you in my happy thoughts. I am sure you are a mess. Everyone reacts differently to stress, so what's normal for you isn't necessarily normal for anyone else. When my brain tumor was discovered, I actually lost weight in the three weeks between the initial CAT scan and the actual eviction. Normally, I would have eaten my way through the ordeal, but my doctor told me that he wanted me as healthy as I could be for surgery and the less I weighed, the better. There was a good chance that my balance would have been thrown off (it was), that I would lose mobility in my left side (I didn't) and various other horrors that never came to be. He was insistent that it would be much easier on my caretakers and myself if I fell post op, if I lost some weight. I chose to spend what might have been my last few weeks (not trying to be dramatic, but that's a mother's thoughts) playing on the beach with my kids, going to the pool every day, taking the littles to the theme parks, etc. I lost about 20 pounds. Unfortunately, I gained it all back plus forty of it's friends. ARGH! -

Are you US? I just bought 4 new moisture wicking tshirts for $5.96 each at Wally World in the best colors. They have exercise capris, too, for $8.96. -
Track, track, track. Tracking everything into myfitnesspal, keeps me accountable. I am only 8 weeks out now and I still eat Snacks and meals. I rarely hit 700 calories a day even with a glass of real Gatorade and because I can only have 1-2 ounces of food at a time, I do "graze" without apology. I don't get in all my Protein or my fluids yet, but I am getting better every day. I figure as long as what I am "snacking" on is protein and healthy, it's not a big deal. Don't beat yourself up unless you are snacking on crap. If that is the case, I will pass you the boxing gloves.

I am abrowndog on myfitnesspal.com if you want to join me! You can see my diet as far as 4 weeks preop. I am 8 weeks post op now.

Interesting! Where will your protein come from? Best of luck! That sounds tough.

With every drink air and noise bubbles? Full feeling to quick?

Totally normal. I am eight weeks out and the gurgling went mostly away at 4-5 weeks. I still gurgle occasionally, but it's not noticeable to the ENTIRE.WORLD like it was before. Those burps are pretty constant, still, though. My husband usually shouts out, "IT WENT DOWN", every time I belch. Dumbass. -
My water classes include zumba, kickboxing and ballet as well as deep water aerobics and finning. If you are a good swimmer, consider investing in a good pair of fins and use them! They are great for the core as well as your rump. It's a much better workout.

That sounds great! I fear that I would be tempted to add a squeeze of lime and a few shots of tequila for my favorite watermelon margarita. Hmmm....

Thanks for the ideas! This is so bizarre. I had no trouble giving it up, much to my surprise. I would go to the fridge and grab a 2 liter for the first few days after quitting out of habit, but never because I WANTED some. I've had no cravings either up until the dreams started. I don't know what triggered them, I don't know how to stop them. I can't find a cold calorie free drink I like either. I was drinking Crystal Light, can't stand it now. SF lemonaide, barf. I hate tea. I am drinking one gatorade (regular) a day just to get some fluids in but I really hate that. I like the Tropicana50 OJ, but it still has calories and WWs taught me to never drink my calories. UGH. I need to find something because Water doesn't always go down so well. I will find something, I'm sure.

Swim!! Pilates is awesome, too, but swimming is so good for you and so easy on your joints.

Dr. Maher at MCV, Dr. Bautista at st Mary's. Love Bautista!

I started my process at MCV and got to the final month before switching to St.Marys. The surgeon was extremely biased towards bypass and continuously pressured me to change my mind despite my clear request not to hear another word about it. I had no co-morbidities and no need to full bypass. When he wouldn't tell me how many sleeves he'd done, that was a huge flag. His nurse finally broke down and told me it was about 70 and that scared me. The final straw was when, at my four month check up ( I had to see him every month for six months), he asked me why I had gained 3 pounds. Uhm... Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years was in between my three and four month appointment, I wasn't on my preop, and I thought I'd done pretty damn good for a fat girl. Meanwhile, he looked like he had swallowed a VW Bug. Argh! Never went back.

Who is your intended surgeon?

Oh em gee! The "Oh Yeah" bars are phenomenal. I know that for some Protein bars are not ideal and it's possible that these might be my downfall, too, but they are so delicious. I have had the chocolate Caramel Candy and the new Trail Mix bar. They have 170-190 calories and 14 grams of protein so to me, that's a good ratio. The chocolate tastes fairly real and because they have real nuts, raisins and little candy pieces, they are like protein crack. They are not chalky at all nor are they dry. So much more satisfying than my Protein shake and the perfect Meal Replacement for me when I am in my car all day. I've not tried all my Quest flavors yet, but of the few I've had, I would say that I like the OH YEAH's better. I am betting that the best way to control myself will be to buy one or two at a time, MAX.

I've taught general ed (math, English and Science), E.D, MIMD and my fav, MOMD. I've been very fortunate to experience a broad spectrum of kids, but my heart is with my autistic babies. They are tough little nuts to crack, but once you do, it's magical. -

His teachers will send him home exhausted, mentally and physically! That will be a great thing for you.
