30/30/30 rule per my doc.* Stop drinking 30 min before meal. Meal should last 30 min. No drinking until 30 minutes after meal. *answers will vary depending on surgeon.

Wait! Now there's soup? You can ask for just the broth. They will be happy to strain it. -
Help Going to Italian Restaurant During Puree Stage
LipstickLady replied to supermom223's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I live a normal life for the most part 3months post op. Sometimes I eat when we go out, sometimes I don't. The first time I chose not to was because I really *wasn't hungry* and I saw no need to go through the motions for calories I didn't want. No one cared. I thought about it on my way home. I have a group of about 12 friends I go out with monthly. We are sorority sisters and I ain't no spring chicken so we've been friends forever. Some are fat, some are average and two are very fit and thin. I can't count how many times the two thinnest ones have just gotten a drink, a coffee, maybe a cup of Soup, or simply picked at the meal they ordered. Not because they are obsessed with diet, they are naturally skinny, but because they just weren't hungry or didnt really want any of the offerings. Why isn't is normal not to eat if you aren't hungry? Even if you are (eatbefore you go), is it worth risking your health this early in the game? Plead a turbulent tummy this time, it's easy and true. -

We always thawed fish in the fridge in a little milk. How weird is that?

You are absolutely right. That's why one should consult his or her NUT and surgeon before eating something that is NOT pureed on the pureed stage. -

I could NOT eat fish on my puree stage, that was for soft foods. I will echo the statement above. Why can't you sit there and not eat? I'm 12 weeks post op and can try anything I want at this point. That said, I still have a lot of trouble swallowing much and am very cautious eating new things, preferring to eat them at home first. I've gone out dozens of times an just say there without eating. I have no problem with it at all. -
Dannon blends makes a smooth greek yogurt and comes in coconut, orange, lime and something else yummy. Look for them!

I spent my first few weeks post op spitting up into a plastic bag while driving my kids to school. If I drank even 1/3 of my protein shakes, I foamed over. Now, it's pretty unpredictable. Sometimes I can eat 2 oz, sometimes I can't. It's ok at home, out in public, not so much.

Smoothie places will do sugar free and add protein powder. Smoothie King makes a Gladiator that's to die for.

I am three months out and I had serious foamies yesterday. I will let y'all know when they stop.

Gross doesn't even begin to describe it.

No worries! Only a select group of us are fortunate enough to be a victim of them.

When you've eaten too much, your mouth and throat fill with a slimy, foamy, substance that must be spat. You cannot swallow it and it's sort of loogie-ish so you have to expel it. It keeps coming up until your food finally settles down. It's disgusting.

pizza Hut Pizza at a month out?

pudding and yogurt was on my full Proteins list and I am the foamie queen. I would say the Protein powder made it way too heavy. I don't see a problem with the quantity you ate, but the weight of it. Why did you eat the second time? Were you hungry or just trying to finish it? That's been a big thing for me to overcome and I've finally given myself permission NOT to finish my plate (and my kids' and my husband's and the leftovers and what's on the serving spoon and ...) I have no problem putting a yogurt back in the fridge for lunch or even the next day. It's very empowering to control your portions instead of having the food control you. Do not drink when you have the foamies. That will only increase the time it takes to go away as well as your discomfort. In fact, if I drink when I have the foamies, I vomit it all up. If you are a foamer, you'll figure it out. It's not fun, but it's kind of funny.

It must be the texture because I thought the OH YEAH victory bars were too similar to Quest bars and I just couldn't gag it down.

A full body pillow to prop yourself up on your side post op. makes sleeping so much more comfy. Soft cup sleep bras so when you are lounging around and people stop by, you are more comfortably "supported". (My boobs are far too big to be loose in public.) Flushable wet wipes cuz you never trust a fart post op. Your bum will thank you. Baby spoons so you can learn good bite size for your tummy. An insulated cup you love to keep your Protein shakes cold. I like my Tervis tumbler and my Camelbak Edy. Get something leakproof and sweat proof so you can carry fluids with you at all times! I would also recommend a fitbit or other tracking device for your steps. I am one who will jog in place in front of the TV if I don't ave my steps in or if a fitbit friend is ahead of me for the day. It syncs with myfitnesspal which is perfect! -
Honest opinion...how does this look?

I find having goal clothes very inspirational. I have a few items I try on weekly and I Celebrate as they get closer and closer to fitting. I will say, I've wasted a few bucks this way, though. I've had a few pairs of pants that went from tight to weirdly baggy as they weren't the right cut and a dress that hung weird once it fit. I am extremely goal oriented and competitive so "rewarding future me" is something that works for me. I am not one that gets down on myself and when I am having a blue moment, I shake it off quickly. I no longer reward myself with food, so buying a few pretty things is going to have to do. I do leave the tags on now, though! -
Goodness! How is he? Who is his surgeon? I am in Richmond and my neuro surgeon was Dr. Mehta. Loved him! Why did he have surgery? It was hard enough when I had it, I can't imagine how hard it would be if it was a child in my life.
