Last must-have food before your pre-op diet
LipstickLady replied to Rdytolose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a Protein shake and lean protein. I was not the "food funeral" person and I don't regret it a bit. Those foods won't disappear off the face of the earth after your sleeve and why add more poundage that you will have to lose? I know not every doctor does the liver shrinking pre-op diet. Do you not have one? -
Awesome ways to use wonton wrappers! http://www.hungry-girl.com/biteout/show/2032

I am making taco cups! I cut a square of wonton wrapper in quarters and put in the bottom of a brownie bite pan. Spoon on some cooked lean ground beef (turkey makes me GASSSSSSY), add shredded cheddar and bake until melted. Then top with pico de gayo, sour cream and cilantro. They are like mini quiches with only about 10 cals and 2 carbs per 1/2 wonton wrapper, they are guilt free. The wonton wrapper holds everything together and adds crunch.

I did cream of chicken, chicken and stars, cream of mushroom, cream of potato, cream of carrot and black bean soup.

I'd be careful about too much fiber. Liquid diet = liquid poos. Too much fiber + liquid diet = new underwear.

Yup. My doctor retired the week before my appointment and I had to go to a new doc in the practice. I marched right in, told her my history, told her with confidence that I needed a letter and walked out with one. End of story.

I call "drinking 64 oz water" BS

I have no doubt this article is 100% accurate. I have used the drug Phentermine on 2 different occasions along with the WWs plan and each time I lost 50-90 pounds without any trouble, once pre-kids, once after. I didn't exercise more than I do normally (which is a lot but only because I do activities I enjoy) and it was very easy for me to stay on plan because I never wanted food, never thought about food, and didn't obsess about what my next meal would be like I did when I dieted without Phentermine. I weened myself to the lowest dose, took 1/2 every other day and was able to maintain my loss, and still had no hunger other than physical. When I was diagnosed with a lemon-sized brain tumor, I stopped Phentermine, obviously, and had surgery. Because Phentermine increases the risk of seizures, I didn't try it again until I was two years seizure free and again, I did great! I lost almost all the weight I had gained but my neurologist wouldn't give me the go-ahead to stay on it for more than 3 months at a time. The yo-yoing was incredibly hard on my physically and I was afraid for my heart which is why I chose to have VSG. I now feel exactly how I did on Phentermine, minus the over zealous sex drive (that stuff is magic!!), and the ability to clean my entire house in 45 minutes flat (legal speed is all it is). I hope this feeling lasts, but only time will tell.

Nailed it.

Silly girl! I said Jennifer Aniston or Megan Fox, no where did I mention Heidi Klum. That's totally obtainable!

Proud Grammy is kind of goofy. Just sayin! -
I asked my NP about this last visit and loved her advice. She asked what it was about the salad that I wanted and I told her it was the red peppers and the tomatoes and the onions and the fresh crunch! She told me that I was craving the toppings and just to eat those. It took me a moment to realize she was right. I was craving all the good stuff on top of the lettuce, not an entire salad, so I made myself a teeny chopped salad of peppers and onions and bacon bits and cherry tomatoes and egg and YUM!

I find the Body Gallery amusing. I am positive there are people in there that are 30, 40, 60 pounds heavier than they claim. When you scroll through a size that has 7 or 8 different people, the shapes and sizes vary greatly. I know this is the norm as I have friends who weigh the same as I do and we look completely different, but we appear to be about the same HEFT if not the same SHAPE. Just cuz it's on the internet, doesn't mean it's true. I've come to terms with the fact that I will probably never look like Jennifer Aniston or Megan Fox, but I will be a healthier me. I'd love to be the hottie that I was in college, but I will settle for the healthy that I will be NOW.

I get in about 30-40g of Protein a day and about 500 calories, MAX. I was sleeved 5/16. Don't force it. Three shakes a day right now is nuts, much less everything else. You are probably exhausted from thinking about all that eating! Can you find a new nut? I am self employed, too, so I get the $$ thing. Relax, do your best, don't force it and get a good walk in every day. Movement gives me energy for some reason. A nicely paced walk, too. Not the speed race I imagine you will try for. I've got you pegged as a manic over achiever. No offense, it takes one to know one, after all...
-
Oh! And I just read your latest blog entry? F that REQUIRED crap. I am three months out and I still can't eat what your NUT "requires". At five days out, it took me all day to finish one shake or one yogurt. Our fluids are more important, Protein will come. Bet that beeyotch is one of those naturally skinny types. Hmph. Required my fat ass.
-
You really need to give yourself and your body a break. You are a week out, you just had major surgery, your entire diet has changed, and despite your excellent loss so far, you are still very much overweight. It is normal to be exhausted. I was exhausted through week 3 and just starting to feel completely normal at week 5/6 and I work from home so I can sit my fat ass on the couch anytime I want. I am also the boss, so I can take the whole day/week/month off if I want so I had far less of an excuse to be tired than you! Most of the posts that I've read on this topic seem to be the same trend as mine. Slow down, be patient with yourself and expect to be tired for the next few weeks. It WILL get better. Promise.

Drinking Water - 3 weeks Post op

If you can drink it comfortably, do it! That said, those words do not apply to food. -
Does anything know about death in Mexico.

Girl, move out of my head, please. -
It's about the same. Some SF have added Splenda or artificial sweeteners. I prefer no sugar added. More natural.

I was a teacher for autistic children as well and you are in for the ride of your life! This journey will be the hardest you've ever traveled, but the most rewarding also. Ask for support, look for the little victories and nap when you can. The above advice is for you as a mommy AND as someone who has had WLS.

Soup: its a liquid, its a solid, how do i eat it?
LipstickLady replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I accidently sip when I eat, it HURTS. If I sip within an hour of eating, it hurts. I love soup, but soup hurts. I can either eat the broth or eat the chunks, but I cannot do both. -
T Minus- 6 Days.. and I have a cough.. oh noo!
LipstickLady replied to NotLookinBack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in with a full blown cold. I was fine. I let the doc know, I was allowed to take Tylenol cold right up till midnight the night before (ask your doc first) and they rolled me back!
