  1. I'm not in this mess nor do I want to be. That said, I'm calling bull. I've peeked in the chat room from time to time but never participated because it is so high school (or dead). There is a lot of "mean girl" talk in there about forum members. You may not be in there when it happens, but it happens. Again, I am not taking sides. If I agreed with you on the above point, I would say so.
  2. I've seen her in jeans. I'd like to butter her biscuits!

    Ramen noodles without the noodles?

Oh no! Are you swallowing too much air when you eat it? Have you tried it Luke warm?

    Ramen noodles without the noodles?

I bought broth in a box from better grocers like whole foods, fresh market, trader joes. I also went to my local grocery, and dipped out broth from the Soup they make in the store and serve near the salad bar. I was on liquids for a long time so anytime we the out, I got broth based soups, asked the server to strain out most or all of the chunks and just give me the out and they were happy to oblige! Panera has great chicken noodle and their veggie minestrone is great. I bought the bowl size and brought home the leftovers to eat for a few days.
  5. So uhmmmmm.... I bet everyone would get along if we start talking about the joys of skinny sex.

    panera soup from Target

Nice! What other flavors do they have? I know they have several of them at Sam's and Target but you have to buy two big tubs.

    Ramen noodles without the noodles?

Way too much salt! Sorry girl. It's going to be hard enough to stay hydrated immediately post op without adding tons of salt to your diet.
  8. That's a huge milestone! Congratulations.

    Best and worst "compliments"

I don't think WLS is a cop out and those who do don't bother me a bit. I don't care if you choose to tell everyone and if someone else chooses to tell no one. It affects me NONE either way. I've never been one to care what other people think because their opinion of me is none of MY business. Your little jabs and insults are meaningless to me as they are much more telling about you than reflective of me. You don't have to agree with me about anything, but do not put words in my mouth. Never did I say that exercise and diet got me to where I am today. You stated that NO ONE could lose weight as fast as we are now because YOU failed at it and I pointed out that you are wrong. It's possible, it's just really hard to do and even harder to maintain. WLS won't guarantee a maintain either. Forming good habits now while my tool is most effective is will guarantee my success, and for me, that includes tracking and exercising. If you don't need to do that, that's fantastic! I have no need to argue with you nor will I. Continue on and I wish you best success on maintaining your loss.
  12. So if we are blaming her age for her inability to articulate herself with kindness and compassion, can we blame mine (you know, I am old and cantankerous) if I tell her to grow the fook up?

Lady? Are you getting a little testy because I don't agree with you? That's amusing. I am not "speaking" for anyone. She was offended/hurt by what her "friend" said and I can empathize with that. You agree with her friend and that's your choice. No one is speaking for anyone, we are simply exchanging ideas. No need to get ugly about it.

Congratulations on making goal! That's so exciting and you should be very proud of yourself. I am almost 4 months out and I have no doubt that I will get to where I want to be because of this tool that I chose to utilize. That said, weight loss can be done without the sleeve, it's just a lot harder to maintain. In turn, weight gain CAN occur with the sleeve if we don't do what we are supposed to do. What are we supposed to do? Make good choices and exercises. It's hard work and it's mental as much as it is physical. The sleeve is a tool to facilitate weight loss but it is NOT the solution. WE are the solution, some of us just need a little more help getting there.

You go, girl!! Your friend sounds a bit green-eyed to me and not much like a friend at all! You don't owe an explanation to ANYONE. Your business is YOUR business and your decision to have surgery was a very personal one. Congratulations on your 50 pounds lost! You are doing an amazing job! You are absolutely wrong. I once lost 80 pounds in three months on WWs and exercise and I kept it off for a year. I was eating micro amounts and going to the gym twice a day. There was no way I could maintain that pace (and the hubby knocked me up) but I did do it and I lost a lot faster than I am with the sleeve. It is not my job or hers (or yours for that matter!) to "inspire" anyone. If it happens, awesome! I would love to think that I could help someone else get healthy but it's not my duty. It's up to each individual to find inspiration in his or herself. I am no more responsible for anyone's weight loss than I am for anyone's weight gain. (Except maybe my husband because he keeps finishing my leftovers.) I am utilizing a tool that is available to anyone. Even with this tool, I track every bite that goes into my body. I exercise at least an hour a day. I wear a pedometer so I can make sure to get in my steps each day. I make great food choices that meet my nutritional needs and that will help me hit my weight loss goals. Most importantly, I have dropped the excuses and THAT is where I will win.

    Ate too much now SCARED

You're fine. Relax. Walk, that will help the food settle. You made a bad choice but if you aren't puking it up, it's probably passing through. Your tummy is still numb, so it's harder to judge fullness. That will come with heavier Protein. How long did it take you to eat that much? Are you sure you ate 1.5 cups?

How to educate my teen about my surgery

I simply told my girls (13 and 15), that as they knew, I had struggled with my weight and dieting for a long time and that I had decided to have surgery so that I could get to a healthy weight. I allowed them to watch the EMMI videos my doctor sent and gave them the link to the Youtube video (one did, one gagged at the thought) if they wanted to see it. I also told them they could come to the doctor and ask any questions they wanted (declined). They were excited for me because they knew I was excited about it. Both of them are very healthy but very weight conscious which I know is totally my fault with all the diet kicks I've gone on. Both are thrilled with our new menu and thrilled with all the time we've been spending together exercising lately. Today was a gorgeous day so we went to a middle school, jogged (I did 1/2 mile!!) and then walked, we did a p90x video together, and then took the pup up to the high school and ran the football field with her. It was fun and exhausting! We are all getting stronger and healthier together while spending quality time with each other.

Drink some Gatorade and eat a banana! Rule out dehydration and potassium first. I do martial arts and I get the same exact cramps when I am lacking. I take a potassium supplement now and make sure I am drink drink drinking!

    "Good" Fast Food?

My Panera now has a large color sign at the front of the line with the hidden menu which is now called the power menu. http://www.brandeating.com/2013/01/news-panera-bread-unveils-hidden-menu.html
  22. Not for the first two months or so but after, yes. My BFF was a guy named Joe, Trader Joe, right after surgery because he did most of my cooking. Now that I can eat 2-3 ounces instead of 2-3 baby spoonfuls, I love finding new recipes we can all enjoy.
  23. Potato chips. Specifically kettle cooked jalapeño or salt and vinegar. I buy the for the family but I refuse to pack their lunches now. If I even touch an open bag, there's trouble. If I do succumb, I measure out a serving, put it in a baggie, crush the chips a bit so there are small pieces and savor slooooooooowly.
