DENIED Blue Cross and I'm RANGING with anger!

So uhmmm.... I totally wouldn't talk about committing insurance fraud here. I am positive that @@Alex Brecher would not encourage that on his site.

No judgement! Just asking about your doctor's diet restrictions. I was allowed loose instant mashed potatoes made with milk, Protein powder added and chicken gravy. My NP said I couldn't do too much damage as I could only eat a tablespoon or two. She said I couldn't have it often, but it was a good occasional thing. I ate a lot of refried Beans, soft scrambled eggs, hummus, guacamole, yogurt, cottage cheese (vomit!).

I am almost 2 years out (May) and I can probably only eat about 1/4 of a baked potato max. I'm not positive because I haven't eaten more than a bite or two of baked potato since my pre-op. At 2 weeks out, the most I could eat was 1-2 tablespoons of mushy stuff. It wasn't until about 6-8 months out that I could manage 1/4 cup. Now I max out at 1/2 cup, maybe a cup if it's really soft. If it's pure Protein, I can manage 2-3 oz. at most. My question? Why in the world are you eating baked potato (and so much) this soon out? Is this part of your surgeon's approved diet plan? Interesting. Most people seem to be encouraged to eat mostly protein, little carbs for the first several months to maximize weight loss.

It's unfair to blame your doctor before you know the details.

    Share your Costco staples!

I ordered it directly from Golden Island today for only $12 a bag. It's free shipping, too! Can't wait to try it.
  6. It's likely that you are eating too much at one time or too fast. Slow your intake, use a baby spoon and wait one minute between tiny bites. I had the same issue. I was prescribed two anti nausea/cramping meds and they worked wonders for me. I could barely eat 2 tblspns in a sitting and that would come back up if I ate it quickly. Talk to your doctor if you are in pain, have a fever or if you are seriously uneasy. Otherwise, try to slow down, eat less and enjoy the loss.

    Anyone else struggling with this?

I was a skinny teen. Size 2, typical cheerleader, big boobs, skinny waist, big hair. I swam and played soccer so I was fit. I had stretch marks on my breasts, hips, thighs, and stomach despite never being fat. My 16yo is 5'6", has never weighed more than 110 pounds, wears a size 00/0 in teen sizes and is very active. She is a martial arts instructor and goes to the gym daily. Guess what? Stretch marks. Don't fret it. Be proud of your success. You've done great! I know it's easier said than done, but learn to love the body you have, the body that can do all sorts of fun and healthy things that it couldn't do at it's highest weight. You are a true success story and a few battle scars to prove it aren't the worst thing in the world.

Someone must have hit something in moderation. I'll fix.
  12. This is not about him, it's about YOU. You have every right to be pissed at him, but you are doing the right thing moving ahead. (US here, I had to use a converter, but similar starting stats. ) Tell him you don't want to discuss it, or tell him to suck it. Your choice. You get healthy for YOU.

    Fat floats. You'll be fine.

    No drinking with meals

Not necessarily. I started eating spicy food with my pureed stage and did just fine. I am the hot sauce queen so I use it to flavor everything. It sucks not being able to take a sip of drink with it but I've adjusted.

Review I did not want to read

It may be no crazy, a little crazy, a whole 'lotta crazy. Like I said, when you read a review online, you have no idea what kind of crazy is talking. It's subjective. Sorry for assuming that was clear.

Review I did not want to read

I agree with you in one area. I put little credence in online reviews. You don't know what kind of crazy is writing them. If review after review talked about God and the surgeon did to you as well, I'd be concerned. Say wha....? The surgeon wanted the patient to realize there's a higher power? What higher power? And why does having faith make one better than one who doesn't?

I get you. I actually want my surgeon to be confident of his skills, not "HIS" skills.

    No drinking with meals

Nope. It sucks. I don't have a choice, however, because if I drink after I eat, I vomit. So easier? No, but can I do it? Yup. At 21 months out, it's habit, but it's frustrating at times. Totally worth it, though.
  23. Get counseling. Seriously. I am not saying this to be "mean" or "judgmental", I am saying this because it sounds as if you are switching from one eating disorder to another. Yes, I had surgery to lose weight, but I wanted to lose weight for my HEALTH. Don't put your health at risk in your efforts to get to a healthier weight. You need to find the balance.
