"picky eaters" - my pet peeve

Wait. His goal is 300!?!?? How tall is he!?!?!
  2. Wait, what? It's wrong to have the desire to tell people about it? As I stated earlier, I would NEVER actually approach anyone, but I have to disagree with you that my desire to reach out to them is motivated by my own self esteem, bolstering of ego, etc. That's nonsense. That's like saying it's wrong to WANT a piece of chocolate cake or a bowl of ice cream while relearning good nutrition. Actually consuming something off plan might be a bad choice, but the desire is normal and natural.

    Water revolting anyone else?

Almost two years out here and Water makes me gag 90% of the time. I drink coffee, coke zero, Gatorade diluted 50/50, Crystal Light, Minute Maid flavor drops in my water and beer. Sometimes I can swallow plain water, sometimes it thunks in my stomach like lead.

    Trader Joes Meal Hacks?

I, too, love TJs for their low carb options and quick meal items. A lot of what you mentioned above is super high in carbs, so unfortunately, that doesn't fit in my nutrition plan. I do love the frozen shrimp, the guiltless fish sticks, the korean short ribs, the hummus, etc. They have tons of frozen cooked protein that has no sides of rice/pasta/sauce and that's super convenient. Yup TJ lover, here, too.

    Fast food favorites?

Grocery stores are awesome. I pick up chicken strips, the meat out of Pasta salads (the pasta makes me hurl), crunchy veggies and cheese. I also ask the people at the deli to slice me 2-3 paper thin slices of lunch meat and cheese and no one tells me no. It costs less than $2 and is much better than drive thru.

    Great news with a rant

Funny thing about internet forums, you can't just change the subject or tell people to drop it if you don't care for the answers you are getting. I think you were very open and honest to share your feelings and that's not a bad thing at all. In turn, people are sharing their experience and opinions on your words. That's also not a bad thing.

    Straws or no straws?

I must possess mad superhero straw skillz yo, because I have been using a straw since my first week post op, I've cause no "serious damage" (or ANY damage for that matter), I don't suck in any air (that's where the mad skillz yo come in) and I get down a lot more fluids than I would without. I am a straw user and my doctor isn't even mad about it.

I dare say that the majority of us have done the same.

    Great news with a rant

Wishfullthinking: So I did it! I managed to keep a steady weight for all of my appointments. I played the insurance game while following my nutritionist and stayed exactly at a 40 BMI at 240 lbs. They submitted to my insurance and I have a date of May 26th! It seams so far!! Lol. I will be on my liquid diet for Memorial Day . But whatever, this is worth it! I am worth it! Which leads me to my little rant part. I don't post much but lurk often. While lurking I see a lot of "I cheated" "I can't stomach Protein shakes" "I can't drink water" "will I ever eat real food again" (after only a few weeks) I'm am not sorry to say this but it drives me absolutely INSANE! You are cheating yourself. No one else. I worked so hard to get here that seeing this makes me feel like this is all ungrateful unprepared fairly land crap! I just want to scream at them Did you do ANY research? Why even get the surgery if you won't keep working to make yourself a success? This is your health. You did it for your health. And by no means is a quick fix. If you don't like protein shakes oh well buttercup suck it up! You can't drink Water find a way to do it. Figure it out. I guess I just get mad that people don't love themselves enough to work at being a success but had the surgery anyway. That's a mouthful of a "rant" for someone who is pre-op. I 'll look forward to reading more from you once you've gone through the process.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

That's a stupid question to ask a woman like me.

    Fast food favorites?

Chick Filet: Grilled Nuggets (I can usually only eat 4) or chicken Tortilla Soup. Wendy's: Chili Chipotle: Kid's meal with meat, double Beans, no rice. Sub Place: Have them make it on a salad Panda Express: Small Teriyaki Chicken, kid's meal over veggies Panera: French Onion Soup I usually try to carry cheese sticks, almonds, beef Jerky, olives (I have a weird craving for them constantly), ham and cheese roll ups, Protein bars. I'm not much of a fast food person and I hate spending money on something I won't want the leftovers of but that I can't finish.

    Carbonated beverages

Yes! There are healthier choices if you are out and need a bite, but it' snot a first choice for me.

    Carbonated beverages

Did I miss something in the thread??? (Geeez calm down...) How far after surgery did u try KFC or McDonald's. I'm jw about everyone's healing and progress with time and such. It appears that someone deleted their posts. I am almost two years out and I don't eat fast food. Again, a slippery slope. Plus, I can eat do little in capacity, I want it to taste good and be great quality.
  21. Estrogen is stored in fat cells. It's all being released. Your hormones are out of whack, your body is recovering from major trauma. You'll be back to normal soon. Just apologize in advance and get your rest.
