Is it CHEATING or is it a CHOICE?

    Agree! Choice, not cheat.

    Food, food, food

Only you can decide if and when you are ready. Personally, I felt I had eaten MORE than my share of food in my lifetime. I was VERY ready to get out from under the hold food had over me and more importantly, the weight that was holding me back from fully living my life. I am two years out tomorrow, and I have not regretted a single moment of my life since my surgery. I can buy clothes in any store. I can climb stairs without breathing heavy, I can eat (almost) any foods I want to. I Zumba, kickbox, and do mud runs with my two athletic teenagers. It's a thrill every time they borrow MY clothes. (MY CLOTHES!!! THEY WANT TO BORROW MY CLOTHES!!!!) There is no cake/pizza/fries/ice cream on earth that even touches how great being thin makes me feel. NONE.

    this hair loss is depressing!

I am lucky to have extremely thick curly hair and I lost it by the buckets. I won't say my nutrition was spot on because I didn't get my protein/calories in by even half my first 6 months, but I've lost hair every time I've lost a significant amount of weight. My doctor advised me that rapid weight loss will cause hair loss and nail breakage due to lack of fats, vitamin B deficiency and various other factors. Hair will grow back, hopefully, the fat will not.

Is it CHEATING or is it a CHOICE?

Oh goodness! I am truly not discouraging ANYONE from posting anything. I am simply hoping that some people will rethink the word cheating and take accountability for the choices they make. I'm not saying their choices are bad/wrong/atypical, I am simply saying that the best way to deal with them is to own them instead of trying to justify them. BIG DIFF!

Is it CHEATING or is it a CHOICE?

I'm not impatient with it at all and I'll admit to being an extremely impatient person. That said, when someone asks the question I wish they would say that they: want justification want patronization want some moral support with a hug and kiss want a reality check. I'm more than happy to skip the first three and address only the last. That doesn't make me a bully, judgmental, or a know it all. It actually says I am truly CONCERNED about their long term well being more than I am their right now feelings.

Oh girl..... You've not been around here much, have you?

Is it CHEATING or is it a CHOICE?

Oh. I've totally screwed up. I've over eaten, I've had "bad" foods, I've skipped meals, I've done all kinds of "terrible" things, but I've never CHEATED. It's always been my CHOICE. I am very aware of that. That's the point of my original post.

    Pre-op diet is a b***h

Well, I looked at the box at Martin's (Giant) and the ingredients are listed on those boxes, too. Right under the nutrition information. I imagine the packaging is pretty consistent.

I went to Walmart and looked. The full ingredient list is on the side of the box. What am I missing?

Constipated day before surgery... what to do?

    Huh? I didn't. Mine wasn't.
  11. HA! I am fairly certain that many people would disagree. SNORT!
  12. Snicker. Made me laugh to I have the mentality of a middle schooler. I own it.

    Pre-op diet is a b***h

Wait, whuuuuuuut? I thought it was law to list all ingredients on food packaging.
  14. I did protein shakes mix ups to tolerate them, too. I would mix half a premier with a cup of milk and a splash of SF coffee flavor syrups. My favorites were banana, espresso, almond and hazelnut. I would throw it all in my blender with a handful of crushed ice and yum!
  15. My boobs look amazing in this new bra. It's truly a miracle.

Seeing what a good bra does for me makes me want to trash all my other ones.

  16. Let me ask you this. What's more important? The number on the scale or how you look in your jeans? (I won't even say the number on the tag in your pants because I wear a 6, 8 or 10 depending on the brand.) I weigh myself every day. Sometimes even 2 or 3 times a day. The number keeps me on track but I don't CARE about it. I care about how my ass looks in my jeans. Inches are FAR more important than pounds. To me anyways...

Can you MAKE me feel worse?

You need to write a letter. Now, while you are one step removed from the situation but while it is still fresh in your mind. Detail what you've been through, what you advised the providers, the reactions you perceived and how it made you feel. You deserve an apology and they deserve to be informed of how their reactions affected you. Do this for yourself and for the next patient who comes in with a less than perfect body. Deliver that letter personally to the office manager so they put a face to it. Seriously.

  19. What an amazing thread! I have no idea how I missed it. Thank you @@Smye for sharing your talents with everyone. I've already copied several of your recipes to my diabetic father (not obesity related) to try. I can't wait to try them myself. Or better yet, carry your ass over to my house and get busy in my kitchen!
  20. @Babbs -- when I message you, you read it.

      AWWWWWWWWW.... HELL NO!!!

  21. Should probably go for the full Brazilian too... just to be on the safe side... Bum hair is weighty.
  22. Don't forget your pits.
  23. Normal. Water retention, time of the month, muscle mass, bad time of day, leg hair too long, something stuck in your teeth... Don't fret it. It happens.

    drink Soda after surgery?

As soon as it becomes legal, I'd suggest MANY people smoke a fatty to soothe what "ails" them.
