How do you puree your food?
LipstickLady replied to Sleeve Inspired's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I bought a few mini blenders and returned them all. My pureed food stage only lasted a few weeks and I decided that I could live on refried Beans, very soft scrambled eggs, warmed Peanut Butter, hummus, guacamole, cream Soups, yogurt, cream cheese, boxed mashed potatoes and gravy, etc. along with my Protein drinks. After my pureed stage, I knew I would never want mushy food again. -
Maintaining easily for over a year but a recent frustration developing. Thoughts?

Yup. That's when the trouble starts. Cooking for the family is easy enough, when it's just me, it's tough. Oh, absolutely! -

LipstickLady replied to LipstickLady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm thrilled with my decision, I wouldn't change it for the world despite this minor frustration. I was a happy fat, I am a happy not fat. I simply have no appetite for anything. @@CowgirlJane has the right idea. I keep almonds, Jerky, shrimp salad, my favorite Gouda cheese, lunchmeat, etc. at my house, I think I am just in a rut. I think I need to expand my staples because I am tired of eating what I eat but am too lazy to make the effort to do much more. Ugh... -

Really? We ALL do? Huh. I didn't know that. I must have missed that about myself. You're quite sarcastic. Who me? Yes I am. I'm not a fan of people speaking for ALL of us, but that's just me. -

As a host of this forum, I will remind you that personal attacks and name calling are forbidden. Please refrain from such behaviors. Thank you! Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind. Please note...I could have spelled out EXACTLY what I meant but decided I wouldn't for the sake of your forum. You may want to contact the person who completely put this person down. We all have opinions and I gave mine. There is a big difference between stating an opinion (which I did feel and comment was quite harsh) and name calling. Utilizing symbols over words does not negate intent. -

EEEEEK!! While I agree that making bad choices this early out is risky to the healing of the tummy, I think your response is a little extreme. To the OP. Find substitutes. Puree some tomato sauce and have a few teaspoons of that with a bit of parm sprinkled on top. Or have a cup of creamy tomato Soup with Protein powder. Runny boxed mashed potatoes with gravy, carrot or squash bisque, hummus, pureed guacamole... I think you are seeking flavor but you really need to work hard to get through these first few weeks. They are the toughest, but you CAN do it -- one meal at a time... -
Why can't I lose weight without surgery?
LipstickLady replied to TXhappyday's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That's a great question -- one many of us will always wonder about. Me personally? I don't care. I just care about getting there and surgery was my answer when all my failed diet plans didn't. -
No judgement, but why would you want to look like Barney when you could look like NOT Barney??
-
Are you doing this for him or are you doing this for YOU? My husband rarely mentioned my weight loss and when he did, it was because I was fishing for compliments. He never commented because he didn't want me to think he was judging me at my fattest so he sure as hell was too afraid to comment on my "thinness". Smart guy!! "Does my butt look fat in this?" is a dangerous question best not answered so no comment is "safe", in his opinion. His lack of commentary was based on MY agenda and his unwillingness to make me feel bad about where I was. It took me a long time to get that, but now that I do, I appreciate it.

Why can't I lose weight without surgery?
LipstickLady replied to TXhappyday's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What's "wrong" with surgery? Seriously! Think about it. If you had a bad heart, you'd fix it without thinking twice. If your gall bladder was failing, you'd remove it. If your knee was bad, you'd replace it. If your head was off, you'd medicate it. Why is it "wrong" to fix your ability to consume via restriction or malabsorbtion? Diet and exercise is the "socially acceptable" way to lose weight as long as you allow it to be. The bottom line is your health. Why does it matter how you achieve it as long as you freaking achieve it!?!? Think about that. -
I am 2 years and 4 months out. When I fold my laundry, I still look at my pants and shorts with wonderment because they look so freaking small (size 20 to size 8). It kills me because they are loose, not baggy -- but loose/slouchy. It's a much better look than when I was actively losing weight and wearing things tighter because I could. It's a mind fluck for sure.

Tips to get through the POST OP 3 week liquid diet!
LipstickLady replied to leighannnn1791's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate a lot of different kinds of soups. Look for the Pacific Gold brand, sold in cartons near the canned soup. Tomato bisque, creamy carrot, butternut squash, pureed black bean soup... I also heated up Peanut Butter in the microwave and added a teaspoon or so of Water to make it very thin for an occasional taste. I am not a sweets person, so I "needed" something other than SF pudding, Popsicles, etc. In reality, though, it's only three weeks out of your life. Just take it one day at a time and if you can't do that, one meal at a time. This time is like childbirth, it really sucks while you are going through it, but as soon as you are done with it, you forget all about it. -
Protein Shake is Stuck?!?!
LipstickLady replied to kranky813's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You either drank too fast and need to burp or drank too much and are overly full. Walk the stairs, it helps. -

So, at Chipotle, you can get double everything except meat for free. I get no rice, double beans, double fajita veggies, barbacoa, extra cheese, sour cream, salsa and it's delicious! For me, too, it's 4 or 5 meals and I enjoy every bite.

Good/bad things I wish I knew
LipstickLady replied to TJBintheOC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So.....your diet is weird to me. Mine way WAY different and a lot more gentle on my new tummy. Week one, full liquids. Protein drinks, I used EAS carb advantage rich chocolate as they were not as sweet as most. 120ish calories 20ish grams protein. It took me an hour to drink one and I could drink 2 over the day if I was lucky. Usually 1 and 1/2. Also broth Soups, strained. Gatorade, watered down. Week two, purées. Refried Beans, loosened with Water. Hummus, guacamole, greek yogurt, Peanut Butter -- warmed, cream soups -- all a tablespoon max per sitting. Gatorade watered down. Week three, soft foods. Puréed chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, all heavy on the mayo for moisture. Crab cakes -- no filler, mashed sweet potatoes with butter, scrambled eggs -- very wet loosened with milk, half an egg at most. Two tablespoons was pushing it. Gatorade watered down. Crystal light. Through these phases, I had nothing to chew. I could barely get 30 oz fluids, and water was not an option. Watered down Gatorade, Crystal light, and ... yeah -- nothing else was an option. I never hit my numbers, but I tried. Focus on liquid, not food. You can live without food, but you need water in whatever form, you just don't know it yet. pizza and nuggets at three weeks is a recipe for disaster. -
