Calling Anyone Who's Gained Serious Weight Down The Road?
LipstickLady replied to Cape Crooner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think talking to those who have only experienced a 5-10 pound bounce would be extremely beneficial, personally. While I value everyone's experience, I would rather stop any regain before it gets to 15, 20, 30 pounds. -
I know this is going to be WILDLY popular... ;)
LipstickLady replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hell no. I'm horrific enough to be around when I am eating my normal diet. I would have no friends or family left if I did liquids again. Nope. Nope. Nope. But best to you!! -
Emotional and feeling guilt
LipstickLady replied to alejcerra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What in the world do you have to feel guilty about? If you had heart disease and had a surgical procudure to correct it, would you feel bad about it? If you had an appendix attack and had it removed, would that "hurt" you? If you had a brain tumor, or lung cancer or kidney failure and surgery could save your life, would you not do it? You had a medical procedure to better yourself and the lives of your family. GOOD FOR YOU! You were smart enough to embrace the opportunity, now be emotionally intelligent enough to embrace and revel in your successes. It takes time to get used to the smaller sizes and the fit body FOR SURE, but you need the self realization to believe that you DESERVE good health. Love yourself. You make a great decision. Best to you. -
How are you treated by people pre-surgery versus post-surgery?
LipstickLady replied to james1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A-FREAKING-MEN. The "shaming" mentality, the "bullied" mentality, the "blaming". JEEEZUS. Don't give people your power. You're the only loser when you do that. -
No more than 30 minutes per meal? How does that work?
LipstickLady replied to Runner1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree. I never went by the time rule, I went by measuring my portions. I would oftentimes eat less than my measured amount, but never more. -

I bought Culterelle with 15btu and they worked with no side effects first day. My stool was a bit "runny" first day but it wasn't urgent or explosive. By day three, things were normal. Target carries them. -

Most definitely not. -

Worry more about your fluids than your protein for your first month to six weeks. Drink your *protein* if you can stand it. Veggies will come much later. Save your room for protein and water, the rest will come. -

Huh. I'm extremely snarky, or so I've been told, so you may want to avoid me. And I have no idea. Sorry. Oh. And I'm a grown woman. Telling me to "hush" is truly ineffective, I promise. -
I never had a band but I love love love my sleeve.

I bought Culturelle, but a friend who is a nurse recommended this today, so I ordered it! http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Probiotic-10-Billion-Vcaps/dp/B002S1U7RU/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?ie=UTF8&dpID=51SPoZ-8HDL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL100_SR100%2C100_&refRID=0D4A862Z65R654TX4DXX&ref_=pd_aw_sim_121_3 -
Preconceptions on Surgery
LipstickLady replied to BikiniBySummer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Why do you need to bring it up? Does their approval or opinion matter? Are you making your medical decisions for yourself, for your family or for your friends? -

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!! I have been taking a probiotic for the last five days and I am THRILLED to say that I have not one I'VE.GOT.TO.CARRY.MY.ASS.TO.THE.BATHROOM.RIGHT.NOW incident since. If you aren't taking them, and you regularly have poop emergencies, try them. I am cautiously optimistic, but so far, so good. I think I may be reclaiming my bowels. -
Brush your teeth, gargle with Listerine and go to bed.

LipstickLady replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Rants & Raves
I like toast, especially with butter and cream cheese on top. I will eat half a slice heavy on the cream cheese from time to time and I enjoy it very much. That's all I can handle and all I need. -
Water tastes gross
LipstickLady replied to Mega_100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to love Water. Now, here I am, 2 1/2 years out and still can't drink it plain very often. When I do, it has to be ice cold but it usually makes me feel nauseated. If I add lemon or flavor drops, I am more able to tolerate it, but plain? Not so much. -
I was about two weeks out and I ate soooop (sic) anywhere I went. I asked them to strain it and just ate the broth.

Decide not to have surgery?
LipstickLady replied to MarciaN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ugh...I'm sorry you've had so many complications, but I agree, everything happens for a reason. That said, those of us who have had surgery ALSO lost the weight ourselves. I can guarantee you that no one did it for me. I am sure you aren't implying that this is the easy/cheater/quick fix way to do things. I fought for every pound lost and I am mindful for every ounce regained. -

I do have a small stricture that I do not want corrected. It keeps me honest. 1/2 cup or so at a sitting is totally normal for me. My surgeon is happy with it, I'm happy with it, I'm getting adequate nutrition and I'm healthy as a horse! I'm just not as big as one any more. -
MMmmmmm...FAT!!

I'm still not getting the correlation between "standing up for the little people" by condemning and name calling the "other people". Must be the middle school teacher in me. I was going to say that, but I figured I would just be called more names.
