Crust was always my favorite part, too. Especially if it was cripsy/chewy/doughy/yeasty...YUM. Crunchy, bubbly, cheesy. ARGH. But it makes me vomit now. It makes me feel bloated and sick and gross. Now I just eat the toppings, made my way with WHOLE MILK cheese. I've gotten over crust, seriously.

10 wks out and only lost 26 pounds from SW.
LipstickLady replied to April237's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only 26 pounds in 10 weeks? Only?? Yeah. You should give up. You are totally doomed. KIDDING!! You are doing great. Focus on the good. Twenty six pounds in 10 weeks is NOT a slow loss. Seriously. I promise. -
I'd think if you are only 4 weeks out, this pizza would be preeeeeeeettttttty freezer burned before you should even consider it, but hey...what do I know? True! We actually went ahead and got one for my hubby to eat. I'd like to see and smell it first and see if it even remotely looks good and he can tell me if it tastes good because we like the same pizzas! Your tiny tummy can't hold much so don't waste that little precious space on cardboard flavored crap. See my post above when you are ready!! It's much tastier, I promise.

If you are really craving pizza, eat it. Personally, the bread makes me yarf, which is why I will use 1/3 of a tortilla from time to time. More often, I will take a stoneware pan (toaster over sized -- about 4"x5" -- seasoned with olive oil. I will put a handful of mozz, a bit of chopped onion and mushroom, some red pepper flakes and whatever meat I feel like having, most often ham and bacon bits. I quick broil it and eat it right off the pan with a fork. I usually burn the roof of my mouth on the hot cheese, just like a real pizza, too! It's tasty, fast and carb free. Looks weird, but so what?

Three weeks out and can eat four ounces easily..normal?
LipstickLady replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll be three years out in May and 4oz of tuna would be a stretch for me. I, too, was on full liquids/purees at your stage but as long as you are following plan, you should be fine. I am curious how long it takes you to eat 4oz. My doctor advised me to weigh out my food, but to never eat for, more than 30 minutes. I can easily eat a pizza if I eat a bite here and bite there all day, but I can't eat more than a small slice in a sitting. As far as the "doomed" talk? Meh. You are only "doomed" if you choose to be. -
Must have pre-op shopping list
LipstickLady replied to JulzInMD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't buy too much. Your tastes may change and your idea of the quantity you need will be drastically different than your actual need. I was driving within 24 hours so getting what I wanted/needed the day after surgery was no big deal. I threw away so much stuff that I couldn't stomach -- total waste. -
Today I took 1/3 of a tortilla, topped it with whole milk mozzarella and added pepperoni. I threw it in the microwave for 30 seconds and ate "pizza". It tasted great, I couldn't finish it and it killed the craving. I am three years out.

Feed Me ....puhlease
LipstickLady replied to Angie74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Miso Soup is an excellent liquid for variety. I added hot sauce to chicken broth for heat and spice. I strained egg drop soup because it was a bit thicker so it gave the illusion of texture. It's only a few more days. You can do it. -
I prefer the phrase: "That totally sucked." I didn't suck. My efforts didn't suck. My intentions didn't suck. What the scale reflected sucked but in the grand scheme of things....OH WELL.

Zucchini noodles or Spaghetti Squash?
LipstickLady replied to Melanie28's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Spaghetti Squash is the bomb diggity but why not try both and see what you prefer? -
Don't forget! A date can be a cup of coffee, an hour cooking class, a quick lunch, or a walk around the park. It does not have to be at night and it does not have to last hours.

I mean this in the nicest possible way... All you can do right now is suck it up and deal with it. If you pain is unbearable, call your surgeon but most likely, it's just gas. Walk it out. If you don't like sweet drinks, you are in for a long few weeks. I hate sweet drinks, but I can do anything for two weeks, I just had to keep telling myself that. Things get better after day three and then you will hit a brick wall around week three, or at least, I did, and then things got MUCH better. I was exhausted and because of a stricture, stuck in purees for about 6 weeks. It sucks, but it's so worth it. It's sort of like childbirth. It's horrible while you are going through it, but once you're healed, you forget all the bad stuff and enjoy every minute of the good. You'll be ok.

Time off for stay at home Mom
LipstickLady replied to uberbuffaloegal's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was a SAHM, too. I didn't need any help at all. I was home 24 hours post op and driving the day after that. I was tired, but nothing more than that. -

Is anyone not taking reflux meds post-VSG?
LipstickLady replied to kinkymoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Who is we? I don't take them. I'm fine at almost three years out. I took them for about a month or three, and then, like my vitamins, they fell off my radar. I feel reflux only when I drink wine or a really sweet drink like a margarita, so I simply avoid those. I do chew tums quite often if I drink fruit juice but other than that, I'm fine. Daily coffee drinker, here, too. -

Favorite Greek Yogurt
LipstickLady replied to Threetimesacharm's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
When I can make myself gag down yogurt, I buy the Dannon Light and Fit. I am not a big sweets eater and the texture of yogurt makes me want to yak. Now, that said, I am a BIG fan of plain Greek yogurt in the savory department. I use it in place of sour cream for dips (like french onion), in mashed potatoes, in guacamole, etc. I generally buy Oikos because it is richer in flavor and I buy full fat. It's a great sour cream swap!
