Is guacamole bad
LipstickLady replied to findingnish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Forgive me for giggling about the fact that you are worried about guacamole but not the fritos. Guacamole was actually one of my first pureed foods. I make it myself so I was able to leave out the chunkier bits and mash it smaller at the beginning and then adjust as my diet progressed. I am almost three years out and still don't eat the fritos. Veggie stick go well with guac! EDIT!! I see that you are pre-op and on a 2 week liquid diet. That totally changes my answer. Yes, guacamole AND fritos are bad right now. A two week liquid pre-op sucks donkey ass. I feel your pain, but you can do this and you are worth it. It's only a few more days and you CAN do this. -
The acid in the coffee will irritate your stomach incision. The caffeine in the coffee is dehydrating. Surely you can put your surgeon's advice and your good health first for such a short period of time. Put aside the money you would spend at Starbucks each day and at the end of 6 weeks, you should have a couple of hundred bucks to put towards a new outfit or two. You are worth it!

Hospital Bag (what to pack) ?
LipstickLady replied to BBweightlossjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A bra??? In the hospital? No way! If I can get away with not wearing one, you better believe the girls are gonna be free! Heck, I don't even think I'm taking my dentures with me, won't need em anyway My surgery is the 16th and I'm already half packed My girls are so low at this point, I figured they'd be hanging out of my johnnie if I didn't wear something and I would give the other patients heart attacks. A sleep bra was as much a protector of my modesty as it was a protector of everyone else's need to be shielded from the tragedy of really long boobage. Super comfortable physically and emotionally. For me, anyways. And men's boxers. Yes. Perfect answer for no bare ass showings as I walked the halls. -
When I told my NP I really wanted salad, she asked me what I missed about it and my answer was, like many, the crunch. What she told me made so much sense. She said that (once I was allowed), I should make a "salad" of toppings. The peppers, onions, seeds, cheese, dressing, tomatoes, radishes, carrots, etc. held all the nutritional value and flavor without the filler of the lesser nutritious lettuce. I regularly go to salad bars now and make a "salad" of toppings including veggies, nuts, cheese and dressing. It's just as delicious, if not more, and much more satisfying. Good stuff!

Lettuce doesn't expand when wet, sleeves don't stretch and the reason you can't have it right now is because it's empty food. Not much nutritional value in many lettuces, too much fiber in others and too little Protein for the space it takes up. Your goal when you are newly post op is high protein, not high roughage.

All I want is to drink
LipstickLady replied to ncw0813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They sell clear Protein drinks at most Vitamin stores. I don't care for most fruit flavored liquids, so they didn't appeal to me. My NP told me she really didn't care how much protein I got in for the first week or so, but she did care about liquids. I drank gatorade (not G2) mixed 50/50 with Water, one shot glass as a time for a week. I did drink a Protein shake per day as well, but that took forever. I put it in my Tervis Tumbler, poured over ice and sipped at it all day because my restriction was so great. I figured the water from the melting ice was helpful to me, too. As my NP said, I could easily go a week or so without food, or I wouldn't need WLS. Water, not so much. You do need to incorporate food as soon as you can (in the recommended form as per your surgeon) for energy and healing, but it's not as urgent as staying hydrated. Or in my case, semi-hydrated. -

Drink first, eat later. You won't starve but dehydration is real. -

I thought you like sausages instead? (A reference to a different post. I almost had a cigarette after reading that series of posts and I don't even smoke!) Yup. With girth. -

Too much weight loss presurgery?
LipstickLady replied to thepuckbus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery approval was based on the weight at my first appointment, not at my last one before surgery. I would recommend you check with your insurance company. -
Happy Mother's Day to all the strong, brilliant moms and you single dads, doing the job of both parents. My heart is heavy for those of you who have lost a parent, or worse, a child on this day. You are all in my thoughts. I hope your day is filled with love.

6 Months Post Op. Can Eat Whole Sandwich?
LipstickLady replied to Billysbelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, and for the record, I love hot dogs. I eat them without bread almost every day. It's nasty, I know, but I really like the Oscar Meyer cheese dogs. I don't look for low fat, or chicken dogs (they make me gassy). I do high Protein, high fat, low carb. At three years out next week, I can tell you with 100% certainty that despite my soda through a straw habit and my tendency to swig a few beers on a Friday or Saturday night, my stomach has not stretched nor has it "grown back". I never pooped out any staples, either, if y'all remember that one. -
