How exciting! Thank you & your family for everything you all have sacrificed.....I know how difficult it is for those deployed, and their loved ones. We all lose weight at our own pace......so try not to put that kind of pressure on yourself.... I don't think the miralax matters when you take it......if I don't have a BM for a day, then I take it.....they took care of my problem in the ER....not fun LOL I'm told you can take it for life if necessary......I'm hoping to avoid that LOL

KRM, Don't be discouraged....we're going to have hiccups along the way....I'm 2 months out and have had a few stalls.....my longest was 17 days......but as mentioned, I was shrinking, so it's all good......we've put our bodies through a lot.......you're early out, but try to get in your water totals, that will help with weight loss and BM's (I struggle with getting in water myself) With regards to the BM......I had a blockage, and the doctors told me to take Miralax every day.....plus they said dairy products can be constipating....that includes yogurt and whey protein (whey is a byproduct when they process raw milk).....cottage cheese, milk........so I'm struggling to take in my protein with less dairy....Good luck!

For a good part of September it was one big stall......but I did notice my pants are loose yesterday....so I pulled out a size smaller, and quite a few fit, so I'm rather pleased about that......plus still being in onederland is a nice change.

Did your arthritus improve after being sleeved/ losing weight?
PGee replied to Italiancurves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was taking Alleve or Advil......a few weeks before surgery I had to stop, and since surgery I my knees have been much better.......besides arthritis (not RA), I am missing cartiledge..... -
I didn't tell people.....my sister & hubby know.....and 2 of my inlaws who live far far away..........Family wasn't supportive when my sister had R&Y, so I know their stance on WLS........I don't want to have to deal with people and their opinions on WLS or the horror stories people feel compelled to share.....and i don't want everything I eat under a microscope....... That being said, it probably would have been easier just to be upfront and say after the fact what I did... Good luck whatever you decide.....there's no right or wrong answer......it's your body, your decision....

I was just thinking last night I'd like a slice of pizza.......but I'm 2 months out and struggling......think that will have to wait for a few months........that may be a slippery slope for me.

I have such a hard getting in my water.....I have it on my desk at work, but am lucky if I drink 24 ounces during the 5 hours I'm here.......but when I'm out out of the office, I remember to sip sip sip.......

I was sleeved in August and will turn 50 in November. Good luck.....the time will be here before you know it.....make the most of it.....read everything you can, and add any activity you can, even walking.......best wishes!

Wow 71 pounds gone in 2 months post op
PGee replied to FRED1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fred, congratulations! That's amazing! I can't yet imagine what kind of changes a 71 pound loss would make....Good job! I am so happy (okay, a little jealous too) to see such great results from you all who are losing quickly........and just as happy to see fellow "slow losers" results as well...... As said before, we lose at our own pace......celebrate those losses no matter how big/small. Anyway, great job, Fred.....that's exciting! -
Does anyone miss being overweight?
PGee replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I miss eating, and it can be a challenge and boring to get in all the protein eating only 1 or 2 ounces at a time---BUT I wouldn't change it for the world.....I do not miss being 40+ pounds heavier......everything is better......my health, exercise, energy, you name it..... -
So glad you're okay, that's great news! Congrats on the new date, too!!!

Tired of women leaving me for the "cute skinny guy"
PGee replied to Justinh125's topic in Rants & Raves
Don't let these 3 women sour you.......obviously they weren't worth your time.... -
There are a lot on this website.... http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2009/01/crockpot-diet.html If you google high Protein crockpot recipes, you'll find a bunch of websites....

let us know how you make out.......even just a tiny trickle would give me spasms......warming up the liquids helped a lot in my case.....good luck!
-
Been there, done that.........losing weight will help.......I still had a fatty liver/cronic inflamed liver even after the 2 week liquid diet........but after some weight loss, I'm told my numbers are great.......waiting to get a copy of the last blood work, though.....I want to compare numbers....good luck!

Thank you for this post! Some days, seems like the weight is coming off too slowly for what I put my body through.....surgery was 8/6, down 26 pounds since surgery......but I remind myself I'd never have lost this weight if it wasn't for surgery. Sabotage, you say? I was this weight 7 years ago, after following a strict, Dr. supvervised weight loss plan that went belly up.......then had some family issues.......and between the two, I really indulged in comfort eating........yeah, maintenance scares the stuffing out of me......but can't worry about it now.....I need to get there first LOL Thanks again!
-
I had soreness (not pain) along the staple line.....if that's all it is, I wouldn't worry too much......you need time to heal......but if you are in pain, true pain, then you may want to call the doctor....good luck on your journey! Those first few weeks are hard.

Amusement park, not so amusing to me when it comes to the food!
PGee replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to a party......it was 7 hours away, so it was a weekend event.............I thought I did well, packed my Water, premier Protein RTD boxes.......but was not ready for the food truck they had as the caterer.........the tables were loaded down with junk food and halloween candy................the food truck had the best looking french fries, onion rings, fried chicken, fried everything, hot dogs, and burgers. So, I got a burger, no fries, no bun.......ate some of it.....and drank my water....... One suggestion is to pack a cooler...... so, if necessary, you'd have a back up.......Another option is Ostrim Jerky......a combination of beef and ostridge meat ......low fat, high protein, no/lo carbs.......you can keep a couple in your purse/pocket.....I think I saw them for sale at Nashua Nutrition (I'm not affiliated with Ostrim nor NN). We have some high protein diet stores near by that also carry them. Good luck! -
How open were you about your surgery before and after?
PGee replied to Superfluous's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there are a lot of discussions on this......if you want to search for it on the forums (maybe use the word "tell" in the search box).....I'm not ashamed, but I haven't told most people......friends, co workers, family.........they don't know........It's my body, my business if I tell anyone.....and I didn't want to put up with everyone's opinion..... -
I was told the same (use it daily)........I chose not to do so.....and wound up in the ER with a blockage.....so not fun........take the miralax.... ....on my way to do so right now LOL

No NSAIDS with the Sleeve?
PGee replied to sonya139's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said no to nsaids for the long haul (I have arthritis in my knees and missing cartilage=bone on bone)....I lived on nsaids before VSG..... -
Cheri, Thank you for this post (and for whoever refreshed it).......it's easy to get down on oneself if you forget this all important fact and start comparing yourself to sleevers who lose faster.....I thought I'd have lost much more by now, but realize this is my pace.....and am happy with the weight that I've lost. Thank you all!
