    Constipation

This is going around.......I stir 2 teaspoons of benefiber in my yogurt with some chia seeds and that helps........getting in all your water helps also......dairy is binding, so if you're taking in a lot of dairy or whey protein, you may want to change it up. Miralax is also great.......tasteless, mixes in with any hot/cold liquid.......seems to take about 12-24 hours to work....gentle..........dr says you can take it everyday and it won't cause health problems......even 1/2 a serving a day...........Hope this helps.

    Vitamin question

I don't know the answer to your question, but try spreading them out over the day, that may help.......I'm taking bariatric fusion chewable tablets, and I have to take 3 a day, one after each meal.............hope that helps.......good luck
  3. Let me preface this with: Everyone experiences/feels pain differently, like comparing apples to oranges...... I had no pain.........just a little internal soreness where they made my new sleeve, and that lasted a few days....but I've had some surgeries of the years, broken bones, bruised skull, etc. But if I break a nail, I'm a wimpering baby. That first night I was afraid I'd wake up in excruciating pain, so I took one dose of pain meds around 11 p.m........they sent me home with pain meds, and I never took them. Again, we are all different, and hopefully you should see a lot of varying replies...Sending good thoughts your way for your hubby!
  4. You can try adding a couple of tablespoons of powdered dry milk to the mix.......with the PB2......works very nicely in chocolate shakes
  5. Surgery on 8/6 first thing in the morning, released 8/8 mid morning........I think I could have gone home the next day......but I did have the roommate from hell LOL I walked while in the recover room (I was in there a few hours, waiting for a room).....I don't think I feel pain the same way as most people--they were surprised I wanted to walk right away......I know not everyone has this experience, but my surgery/recovery was a piece of cake Welcome and good luck!

    Cant poop!

my new best friend is Miralax....no flavor, no smell, mix it to any hot or cold beverage (4-8 oz).......I'm told you can take it every day it won't cause any damage After my ER visit 3 weeks ago (to take cair of this problem).......I now add 2 teaspoons of benefiber to my yogurt every day, and I've been regular with just that addition........They told me too much dairy can be binding, plus make sure you're drinking enough.....my dr said to take 1/2 a serving of miralax every day......Good luck!
  7. I can do that.....will post one in a minute........I hope you post what you sampled and your thoughts.......... Here's a picture and a link to a picture of the nutrition....just in case I didn't get the picture posted. THANKS! https://drinkclick.c...6-0z-canister-2
  8. I picked up a couple samples of this, and can I say it's yummie? I mixed it with 2 cups of Water, 1/3 c nonfat powdered milk, and poured it over ice. Yum! I drank some of it early this morning, and sip the rest throughout the day It has Calcium caseinate.....anyone have thoughts on this type of Protein? I am unfamiliar with it. I actually meant to get samples of Chike, but with these old eyes, I ordered the wrong thing. The totals are 23g protein, 23g carbs, and 200 calories......I was never told what the limit was on carbs, but that seems high.....11 in the Click and 12 in the milk. Thanks for your input!

    Encouragement Needed

17 pounds in 2 weeks is great! I'm out a little over 2 months, and I've lost 30 pounds. I'm a slow loser I don't know about anyone else, but I had food "issues" preop......head hunger.....overeating.....comfort eating---I'd eat because I was happy, sad, bored---heck, I didn't need a reason. BUT I will always deal with these things. The thought that keeps me from eating things that aren't on my post op plan is this: I've permanently modified my body, worked too hard, and come too far to sabotage myself......and always the eye on the prize. Don't be afraid to reach out for help......local support groups for weight loss surgery are filled with experienced WLS vets that will be happy to share their success tips/tricks........and there are therapists who specialize in helping people with food issues--at the Psych Eval, the woman offered her services post op should I find I'm going back to bad habits......and if I do, I'll be calling her. Are you eating enough? Are you reaching for them rather than your planned meals/snacks? Just something to think about....I always keep the equivalent of 2 meals with me when I leave the house so I don't have any excuses.....meanwhile, don't get down on yourself or discouraged ('cuz you're doing great!)......Most of us have probably done the same......but we need to learn why we did it so we can have a plan the next time we reach for something we shouldn't. We're here to help, too! Good Luck!

    unique birthday ideas

How about bowling.......or a birthday hike with your loved ones.......you can plan it around a meal if you like to.....recently 12 of us took a hike, and we each brought our own bagged lunches.......then turned around and hiked back. We have day cruises by us touring islands......if you live by the ocean or have large lakes nearby, possibly there are things to do on the Water.....rent kayaks (my new favorite pasttime). Support the local arts and go to a local theater to see a play, art gallery, what about a museum.......pack a picnic meal so you can stay on your plan.......stop by the local chamber of commerce in a nearby community and find out what there is to do. This may be an adults only activity.....but in our area, we have indoor shooting ranges........I went once with a women's group......it was something so totally out of character......but we enjoyed it. If it's me and just a couple of friends, I'd go for a pedicure Good luck, hope you have a wonderful birthday......hope you repost and let us know what you did!

    Hair Loss Help?

I'm not sure there is anything, but ride it out....some folks take biotin, but not sure it helps.....good luck!
  12. I mixed the chocolate Peanut Butter Raw fusion Protein powder with 8 oz of Water in a Blender Bottle with a blenderball. It blended nicely, didn't leave any lumps. The consistency was thin, like chocolate milk.....it's a little sweet, slightly chalky or gritty, I'm not sure which. The flavor isn't what I'd expect---a little off........I put it in a blender, and it was still a little chalky. I added my new standby: 2T nonfat powdered milk and 2T of PB2......it thickened up nicely, the chalkiness isn't as noticeable, and it goes down pretty well.....I bought 2 samples of this flavor and 2 of the chocolate to give it a chance..... Would I buy it again? Not sure yet..... The combination of the whey Protein Drink and other milk products is a little too binding for me.....so I was looking for an alternative, and thought I'd give this a try. Someone also mentioned egg white protein as another alternative....haven't gone that route yet..... As someone posted yesterday, there are a bunch of reviews on Amazon for the raw fusion, but thought I'd add mine here for fellow sleevers.

    Just beginning

welcome to all our new-preops! Use these 6 months to learn as much as you can..... The pre-op process can be a bit of a rollercoaster ride as you get all your appointments in and waiting for the final approval/date can be hell on the nerves.............but it will go by faster than you think. We're glad you're here!!!!

    Beef Jerky anyone?

I'm a fan of ostrim Jerkee (60 cal, 10g protein, 1g sugar)........just bought some, and it goes down easy......not quite as dry as regular jerky.....they also have jerky snacks that are more like a slim jim and even more moist I think........(those have 80 calories and 14g protein, low in carbs)

    Protein drinks

I like the premier Protein as well......someone suggested adding 2T dry, nonfat milk and 2T of PB2 (a Peanut Butter powder) to their chocolate shakes.......I was getting bored with the Premier Protein drinks, so I put that all in a blender with the chocolate, and it was quite yummie. The nice thing about the premier is they are ready to drink, grab and go

    Wigs?

For those who are/have lost hair......did you feel your scalp tingle/hurt? I don't notice my hair falling out.........I'm 2 months out and noticing my scalp tingling/hurtting a little....... I try not to think of the possible hair loss---I already have thin hair

    WLS Cover-up Story

I'm one of those keeping it to myself.....it's none of their business--I saw how unsupportive and down right unkind some folks were to my sister....some are still making remarks........I just didn't want to deal with it. BUT I would not tell people you're having your gallbladder out...........there are some patients who need gallbladder surgery after weight loss surgery, then what do you say? I took vacation time for surgery, so I didn't have to explain myself to my employer (it's a small office).
  18. I'm far from goal, but there are huge changes already. My childhood nickname was Fish, because I loved swimming, and never wanted to get out of the water.........It's been years where I've felt comfortable enough to go swimming....never mind in public.......now I go all the time to the town pool..........I'm still large, the thighs are still a sight to behold LOL But it's all good.....my self esteem has improved so very much.

    PB2

A few months ago I searched locally for PB2, and finally resorted to the internet, and have a package.....now the question is, how do you mix it with your Protein drinks? And, what else are people doing with the PB2 besides adding it to shakes? I put it in an insulated, metal thermos with chocolate premier Protein Drink and agressivly shook it.......it tasted good, but I have sludge at the bottom of the container and lots of lumps in the drink........how are you all mixing it up? Thanks!
  20. And the coughing up brown stuff doesn't sound good either....please let us know how the doctor's appointment goes.......I had problems that first week with spasms, couldn't get a trickle down without a lot of pain.....but that quickly went away.....hope you get answers/solution to this quickly.

    Has the sweating stopped?

The sweats have stopped.......People always gave me warm winter gear......I guess because I didn't wear it, maybe they thought I was in need LOL It was 74 in the house yesterday, and I threw on a sweatshirt for a few minutes to get the chill out.....my husband is always cold, so he's looking forward to this winter when I won't belly ache that the house is too hot LOL

Reaction From The Men In Your Life

The only guy that knows is my hubby.....When I first discussed it with him, he was against it, completely, 100%......"you can do this on your own"......then after sharing some research I did, he was still against it, but supported me.....after meeting with the surgeon during the info session, he was on board with reservations..........Now that it's post op, he is very supportive, glad I did it. Of course, at a social function, they were passing out the brownies and dark chocolate, he started passing them to me......I gave him an "are you kidding me?!?" look with pursed lips and lifted brow.....I think he was testing me.....
  23. Thank you both......didn't even think to look on Amazon for a review........will look into the egg white protein, thanks!
  24. Does anyone have any experience with this product? What are your thoughts/reviews? It is a plant based Protein powder (protein comes from peas, rice, and artichokes)......After being told dairy is binding, I was thinking this may be a non-whey option. I ordered some samples and will report back, but was hoping to get some input from other sleevers about this product. THANKS!!!

    August sleevers progress

Feel fabulous.....I'm hiking, kayaking, working out, loving life.....I have no problems (so far) tolerating any food. I'm eating mostly protein.....chicken is my staple for protein---I just cook it different ways.......also eat eggs, salmon, tuna, scallops, lobster, the occasional chili, crockpot chicken is good (chicken needs to be moist), one protein drink/shake a day.....eating less yogurt & cottage cheese since they're binding........a wee bit of veggies or fruit.....the rare occasion will have a teaspoon of rice or potatoes (done that twice since being sleeved). Mostly staying away from carbs......Two to three ounces of protein fills me up, so it's tough getting in the veggies/fruit, or anything else. I don't cook casseroles, lasagna, other pasta dishes, or desserts.....hubby is picky and won't eat any of it........so it's been super easy to eat this way. What are you eating, are you on pureed foods yet? Good luck!
