Just be truthful.....if you aren't honest with him/her, than you are only hurting yourself. We had a conversation, and that was it....she was looking for addictive tendencies, possible depression, mental illness, eating disorders, things like that....

They did an EKG, and that was it besides talking about medical history and family medical history......my blood pressure was through the roof.....I hate going to new doctors...........he took it again afterwards, it was still ellevated, but had gone down a lot...even with the spike in BP, he cleared me for surgery...

this texting while driving is so frustrating, and so many accidents could be prevented....Sorry about your car....thank goodness you will all be okay. -
Good morning! Wow, June 18 will be here before you know it! I have my last NUT appointment July 1st........then I meet with Dr. Floch and submit paperwork to the insurance..Did it take a long time to get a surgery date after being approved by your ins.? Have you done the mandatory pre-op session at the hospital? been to any of the support groups? The LSW suggested I attend one before the surgery. Best of luck!
-
I am still pre-op, getting all the appointments in to satisfy the insurance...........I have told my sister (who had an RNY) and my husband......I don't have children, and I haven't told the rest of the family, because I saw how "supportive" they were when she had her surgery.........right now don't have any plans to tell anyone at this point, but that could change........if it would help someone, then I would. I have found when there is a major change in someone's life, people tend to focus on that, and I'd rather not have to defend my actions or have them focus on this...........good luck!

How did you decide what WLS to have?
PGee replied to GirlOnFire's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend who did the lapband, she needed to lose 75 pounds, and she has nothing bad to say about it, she loves it.....she's 3 years out, and has no problems of any kind (just wanted to get that out there).....and looks fabulous. I've decided on the VSG because I don't want to deal with fills, the foreign object in my body and complications that can occur.......Ive read about a lof of revisions from lapband to RNY or VSG........and I don't want to go through this twice LOL Good luck with with whatever you decide to do. -
Mine was an hour long conversation. She touched on multiple subjects.....she was trying to see if I had an addictive nature (cigarettes, alcohol addictions), mental illness, and did I fully understand what was involved, and that VSG is not a quick fix.......it's interesting to see how these appointments vary from dr to dr.

PGee replied to abj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same comment from the mental eval & NUT... and I thought the same thing about this site! I just wish all these appointments could be squeezed close together.......I hate the waiting. Good luck on your journey! -
first nutritional visit today.
PGee replied to norabez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine requires 3 visits, and they don't have to be a month apart....with how we've timed them, I'll be done July 1st with NUT visits. -
I'm in the same boat you are with Cigna.....thought it was 6 monthly visits with the NUT....wasn't happy when when I found out it was only 3......I had reservations, and thought in the 6 months I could work past them--have to put that in overdrive LOL Luckily after the mental health evaluation, I feel better about this........My last appointment is July 1.....it'll be here before you know it....

I would talk with the doctors, even if it delays the surgery........personally I wouldn't want the bypass...the mal-absorption thing freaks me out.......a friend had an RNY and now has to get iron through an IV drip she was is so anemic...........

I had my first meeting today, too.......she didn't change my diet one iotta........we just talked about pre and post op diets......will be interesting to see what the next 2 sessions are. -
I have to meet with the NUT 2 more times, have the endoscopy done (meeting with those folks next week) and have my physician fill out the paperwork (last month he said he would support me with WLS, so I just have to give it to him)....so I'm getting there....Good luck to you too!

Love C.S.Lewis........thanks for sharing!

Welcome back, and congratulations............and thank you for sharing that analogy, I like it! I figured whatever exercise I could do now would only help me when I have the surgery.

Three months pre-op and new to this site! :)
PGee replied to lisabe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the pre-approval stage, and I know how you feel about the see-saw of emotions...........I was driving my husband nuts last month.......so I've stopped sharing them with him LOL I haven't shared what I'm doing with people....not sure if I will......My husband wasn't particularly thrilled when we discussed WLS, but after meeeting with the surgeon at the initial meeting, he's been supportive. -
Did anyone have really elevated LFT 's?
PGee replied to a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My numbers are high due to a fatty liver.....my radiologist thought it was due to drinking......sorry big guy, I haven't had a drink since Jan. 2012 LOL -

Reason for Pre op liquid diet?
PGee replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, that's wondeful that the doctor did the diet himself to know what his patients go through. I was told the same thing about the liver. -
Psychiatrist evaluation tomorrow..
PGee replied to karpouzian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll do fine.....had mine on Monday.....I still have the 3 months nutritionist appointments to complete....first meeting is tomorrow. -
Good luck, I had my eval on Monday.......the woman was wonderful, specializes in pre/post WLS support..........we talked for an hour.....she was lovely, funny, down to earth, and honest....no matter what, be honest with her and your surgeon......because you'll only hurt yourself. We lost our teenager a few years ago, so she touched on that by asking "and how are you doing with that?" I had been a nervous wreck about this appointment...........we went on vacation and came home the day before the appointment.........which was good for me, because I was too distracted having fun to think about it LOL Good luck, you'll do fine.
-
I'm still in the pre-approval phase.....and there were days I flip flopped about the VSG........and days where I was feeling quite anxious about it.........but after meeting with the surgeon and mental health professional, I'm feeling better about it..... The LSW strongly suggested attending support groups for WLS patients.........before you have the surgery......I may do that.

PGee replied to deedadumble's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
We're in CT, but Dad grew up in NJ, and has friends on the shore who lost everything, After Hurricane Sandy hit, my father became a fan of Christie......I'm glad he's doing something for his health.
