  1. Wow! 2 months! You know, I was a little surprised I didn't have to wait longer.....I figured I had more time--but feeling very grateful for the 8/6 date... I've been playing with protein drinks for awhile now...I don't have enough time for a food funeral LOL If I do anything, I may have a meal with Chinese food...I've heard sometimes it doesn't agree post WLS.....not always a healthy choice anyway, so not a big loss LOL
  2. You both look great!
  3. Is it possible to bring or pick up an inexpensive foam cooler or even a soft sided collapsible one?...keep a few things in it with ice in your room? The foam coolers keeps the ice much better and typically doesn't leak. I have a small soft sided insulated tote.....got it at a grocery store last month and it's cute.....I bring it to the office with my refrigerated RTD Protein shakes, have my wallet/phone in the outer pocket, and everyone assumes it's a purse, and it comes in different sizes, and there are some that just look like a tote bag.
  4. I feel like I'm nesting.... I've been deciphering everything I eat---haven't had a soda in months....went to a bar last night and didn't drink. I've been making my pantry a sleeve friendly environment LOL Pulling out clothing from the attic and getting rid of anything I wouldn't wear even if it did fit AND organizing it all. (I'm not an organizer, so that's HUGE) I haven't done a food funeral, but I've told hubby if he wants to go for dinner, this is the time to do it.....I've been trying to prepare him for this as well. anyone else? What do you find you're doing? (besides getting the appropriate pre-op diet and post op necessities)

    A whole lot of Protein!

I was told for stage five and beyond 60-80g protein...but I'm 5'1", perhaps being tall, your body will require more[?] BUT if you are unsure, you should ask your NUT or DR....best wishes!
  6. Thank you for posting that.....when I get on the loser's bench, I'm sitting next to mparkersmith and going to her house for dinner LOL

    Approval.....this is really happening

Thank you for that, TammyLynn! Glad to here it's going so well. Thanks!
  8. Today I got THE call.....well, the email actually...the subject line: "APPROVED!" the body of the email "call me so we can go forward". I had been in touch with Stefanie for a month or so following my progress and keeping her updated with the status of all the tests and various appointments. When I saw the email, one eye started leaking (who, me cry? No, that wasn't a tear rolling down my cheek....I didn't realize how concerned I was about getting approved right away--..that was against the odds due to new ins. rules---but they approved me anyway................this morning I was a wreck---no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get through to the dr's office w/o interruptions----I started to wonder "is this a sign? perhaps I shouldn't go through with it" But I squashed those thoughts---and quick! People kept coming in and out of my office (usually it's a dead zone), someone set up an appointment with me & an auditor, but neglected to tell me---so I had to stop everything and play gopher, digging through files for the required records---I'm always the last to know LOL.....so I tried to call a little later, and while I'm on the phone, someone picks up a random extension and starts dialing, disconnecting me & my doctor's office--and they did this twice! I was a nervous wreck to begin with, and all of these shenanigans just made me more anxious and shaky----and I was shaky for a few hours afterwards---too excited and thankful and scared to death, all at the same time. It's hard to imagine in 20 days I will be sitting on the losers' bench. It's taken me years to get to this point, and many thanks are extended to the VST members who shared their experience, offered their input, and have been candid about the good and the not so good parts of WLS......thank you. I "think" I'm ready for what's ahead....I've been reading everything I can about VSG---I am absolutely obsessed.....BUT is anyone REALLY fully and completely prepared for this? I don't think so---until after the actual surgery.....I'm so glad that I know I may have buyers' remorse initially, hormones will be out of whack, there can be stalls along the way, and everyone's body does not lose at the same pace.......the liquid pre-op diet is not fun, but hopefully I'll keep my attitude in check....if not, you have the right to call me out due to my bad attitude LOL ..I believe if I can't follow the pre-op diet, I have no right to show up for surgery come 8/6.............because the real challenge will be what comes after the surgery.....Be good to yourselves & those around you......Until next time......
  9. After my last NUT appointment was done, it took 2 weeks to get approved, and I was able to get a surgery date just 20 days after that.............My doctor's office said usually they book 4 weeks out....guess I caught a little break...good luck! Those 6 months will be up before you know it. Good luck!
  10. I was approved for surgery............I was calm this past month, but now I'm anxious as hell....... I expected them to delay approval because of the new 90 day rule... I'm so nervous to pick up the phone and call the surgeon's office.......wish me luck! UPDATE: Got my date......Aug. 6th......woo hoo!!!!!
  11. Thanks....still can't believe it LOL

    Cigna gone crazy?

You'd have to check your policy (call up your ins. co. and ask what is required)....I had the 3 visit requirement....some folks have 6......good luck!
  13. Just got my date yesterday, and I've been wired....didn't sleep last night.....another 8/6 date here....Too funny about the chairs.....we just bought a couple of chairs for our patio......and I was afraid my big behind wouldn't fit LOL
  14. I don't know HOW I missed this wonderful post.....I just learned I start my preop diet in 5 days and needed to see this...............many thanks for this post.......

    Cigna gone crazy?

Me too! Yeeha! how long did it take to get yours? With regards to the 90 day rule.......they did not adhere to it.....but perhaps because I started the process before May 15th (?).......I only had 59 days with the NUT.......anyway, good luck to everyone!
  16. Oh you are clever! Never would have thought to do that! Got my approval & date....8/6......we'll be on the losers bench together next month, woo hoo! Congratulations, and good for you!!!!!
  17. Thank you all! YAY YamGirl!, my sleeve sister, we'll have to stay in touch and compare notes!

    (Im)patient waiting

welcome to the waiting game.......we'll all get through it......just not quick enough for us, though LOL Good luck everyone!
  22. So sorry you're going through this. If you two can't work it out yourselves, try to seek out counseling if you can.....good luck. In May I told DH the first week following WLS, while I'm on Clear liquids, he's on his own....he thinks I was kidding..... ...I think he's in for a rude awakening
