Anyone else getting sleeved in August?
PGee replied to Living4Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's a list someone put together: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/10081-the-official-what-you-will-need-for-your-gastric-sleeve-surgery-thread/ Right at the top of the first post there is a word document with a list. (I'm thinking: chapstick, book, cell phone/charger, small pillow, a deck of cards, ear plugs, pad of paper, pencil/pens, maxi dress, case for glasses) I plan on wearing a pair of sandals that slip on....can wear them to/from the hospital and during my stay while walking around. -
I was too scared to cheat at first....today's day 10, and now it just doesn't hold any interest......getting too close to surgery to screw it up.
-
Sounds like you may have found your culprit.....you need water/liquids....I'm typically the queen of dehydration...not only should you feel better, the anesthesiologist will have an easier time getting the IV in if you are hydrated (I've had my veins dry up when having blood drawn--very scary).....I aim for 100 ounces of liquids per day during pre-op. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hang in there. What brand of shakes are you drinking? Have you tried a different brand? How's your Water, are you drinking enough fluids? Ask your doctor if you can you switch a shake for an Isopure clear liquid....they're sort of like Gatorade....but protein I've lost my appetite....for anything...it's a chore to get in that last meal....Good luck....we're here for ya!

Sorry you had to go through this.....but love your attitude!!!!

Stories we tell...how do you not "lie" without saying you had WLS?

When I get to that point, I may try this.....too funny LOL -
Raging headache day 2 of pre-op, and I'm not suppose to take anything....
PGee replied to adargie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat...was anything suggested for post op? This morning I was hobbling along, and boy did I want to take something and tylenol just doesn't cut it. ADARGIE, sorry for your pain.....I had a headache that first day and extra strength tylenol helped. -
Day 9 of preop---and no interest in food--it was a struggle yesterday to get in all 3 shakes...not complaining tho LOL
-
I can't find appropriate clothes to wear to the office this morning......my pants are too big! I've tried putting a belt on them, but the pants just hang from the belt and look silly I haven't lost much weight, but looks like it's all in my waist....now if my hips would shrink at the same rate, I could go down a size LOL For TJohnson.....I think we all have our fears.....best wishes to you.

I think this is normal.... About the nausea....someone on here suggested that before surgery you ask for something for nausea....I had my preop at the hospital today, and asked the anesthesia person about this, and she said to ask before surgery and they would give me something. Just thought I'd share......I don't see any reason to be nauseous after surgery if we don't have to be, right? Good luck!

Scrapbooking your VSG journey
PGee replied to GBFree82's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I did one for my sister.....nothing fancy..an 8x8...took pictures every month of her and put one on each page with a date, her weight loss, and some embellishments.....I wish I had recorded what her thoughts were each month, too....oh well, hind sight is 20/20, right? Good luck! -
Just like JerseyGirl, I can't help ya there.............but welcome!!!!
-

Just found out my sleeve surgery was approved.
PGee replied to Chanedog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to VST!!!! Congrats on the date! I was just the opposite....nervous and doubting myself for months....then I was finally at peace.....and now one week away, I have anxiety again......I know this is the best thing for me, but I'm still anxious. I think the doubting is normal.....this is a huge change. -
So glad it went well!
-
I also had tubes tied, ablation, and last year was put on a medicine whose side effect is no periods...and I started spotting today......hopefully that's all.....I wonder if it's anxiety about surgery or if it's the small weight loss. Good news is this won't stop the surgery. Good luck on Wed.!

YAY, you did it!!!! AND more importantly, you look AMAZING!!!!!! You said you hope you can do this.....but you ARE doing it, and very well I might add....good for you, and thank you for sharing your pictures.....so very encouraging......Thanks for sharing!

I think this whole journey is going to be hard for awhile. I'm on day 7 -- When things got tough, I'd remind myself that it's only 2 weeks, and I can do this for 2 weeks...And, I stay busy. Luckily I can have broth/boullion.....I use one boullion cube in 16 ounces of Water.....and I think it helps... Call your doctor to see if you can add boullion.....Good luck....you got this!

You may be right about the protein.....the BA has 27 grams per serving.....so I'm getting a total of 103 grams of protein on my plan (3 shakes, 2 nonfat, plain yogurts) I've been mixing BA in the yogurt for a "pudding".....tolerable........however, the Premier Protein RTD drinks are good (30 grams per serving).......by themselves, I like the chocolate better......BUT I like to mix the vanilla in with 4 oz of decaf coffee.....and pour it over lots of ice.......yum! the PP RTD's can be found at walgreens in a 4 pack and at costco in an 18 pack (I purchased it from walgreens first rather than investing in a huge pack from costco)..... Good luck!
