  1. years ago I came to the conclusion that I probably don't feel pain like most people... My incisions never hurt, I wasn't in any pain after surgery.......a soreness internally where the staple line is.......but I just felt sore in that one spot....when I laid down, it would hurt to get up, so for that first week I slept in my recliner....and I now feel a sharp pain when I bend to tie my shoes or pick up a piece of paper off the floor. But every day drinking got better that first week, the soreness decreased each day.....Pureed foods was hard initially....each day it got better..... I'm three weeks out, and most days I feel "normal".....as I did before surgery.....except when I eat, that's a whole 'nother ball game....still having a tough time getting in my fluids.....doing okay with Protein, hitting close to the low end (60g) I wasn't hungry nor interested in liquids the first two weeks....but I do feel hunger now.....and head hunger too, but that's a work in progress....Good luck!

    Stuck in same size

I am in between sizes, too.....I was wearing a 22, now they are so big, some fall down (so those are in the Goodwill pile), but most don't have belt loops (sometimes I hate women's pants LOL)...............and the size 20 is way too tight....I may have to pull out a sewing machine and make the waist smaller on my 22's.... The first two weeks my weight loss was steady (with a 5 day plateau)......but this last week it has been absolutely stagnant.....I have a 9/9 appointment with the surgeon....and I don't want to show up with only a 15 pound loss in a month....received a comment at my last appointment that my weight loss should have been more....frustrating. Good luck!

    Learning is HARD

Update....still on pureed foods until tomorrow..........and for now the runny nose starts about 1/2 an hour after a "meal".....if that's my signal, it's a little late
  5. You can't worry about the what ifs (easier said than done, I know)......don't waste precious time worrying about things you can't change, life's too short, and stressing enough as it is.............they told me I'd lose 20 pounds on the preop diet.....I only lost 10......and I was the preop princess--no cheating, stuck to the plan......no problems.....good luck!!!!

    Surprise!

Fabulous! That's great news, love to hear these NSV stories!!!!
  8. Spent the day with a friend & her extended family.....people I have seen off and on over the last 30+ years....they are all slim, but they have huge appetites.....I swear I was born into the wrong family, because even when I was a size 6, I couldn't eat the way they do.....but they do, and after all these years, they are still slim. I'm on pureed foods, so I packed a shake, just in case there wasn't anything appropriate.....they do not know about my surgery...I'm one of "those" who has kept it rather private, but my friend is used to seeing drink the RTD shakes. They had the usual trays of ziti, eggplant, and my fave chicken francaise.......plus all the mayo loaded salads, rolls, and don't even get me started on the desserts. I ended up having a slice of deli turkey, a very slim slice of hard boiled egg, and a bite of chicken.....literally a very small bite.....and slowly chewed my food until it was the pureed consistency.......a little scary that it all went down so easily. They gave me a hard time about using a small plate.....but I told them if I didn't, I'd overeat.......they didn't mention it again, and no one noticed what I did or did not eat...... I was afraid this was going to be very hard, but it was quite doable.....just wish I could have measured/weighed what I ate LOL It was so nice not to want to sample every food that was set out...what a wonderful change.

    I am a lucky girl

Oh how fun! I've never been brave enough to drive it.......but we took the cog train up.....covered in soot afterwards LOL If you haven't taken any before pictures of yourself, make sure you hand over the camera to your hubby and have him take some snapshots of you for your before picx...............have fun, and best wishes on your surgery & recovery!

    HELP

the only protein I could have on the clear liquids was 1/2 a bottle of isopure clear diluted with an equal amount of water---not a fan of the isopure.....I ended up adding liquid crystal light to make it tolerable.....my NUT did not approve the unflavored or chicken flavored unjury powder......said it did not dissolve perfectly clear....

    Learning is HARD

I'm almost 3 weeks out, on pureed foods.....I eat very slowly, tiny bites.....but a couple times I eat that one bite too many, and I just feel very very full....I'm starting to recognize the stopping point....

    Best Protein Shake

I like the premier protein drinks.....but they are premade, and are not thick.....besides a huge case at costco, you can pick up a 4 pack at walgreens to try them out......I was told walmart also had them.

    Drains

I know it didn't look pretty with my steri strips and the gaping hole where the drain was, but when I took the dressing off, I left my midriff bare so the air could get to it....good luck!
