Hi all, I went in for surgery on the 6th of August and the Dr. made 5 tiny incisions when they brought me into recovery or when I awakened they told me he didn't get the band in because my blood pressure went really high, 280 over 170, and I have never had hypertension. So they had to stop for fear of me having a stroke. I was so disappointed, and have been depressed all this week. Now I'm having to go have an MRI and all these other tests to see what caused this to happen. I don't know if I can have the surgery after all or if I can afford it again. But I've not been sick and not very sore either. If the band doesn't hurt anymore than this I think it would be a breeze. Thanks for all your prayers and congratulations to all you August Bandsters.

Hi PigsRFlying, I'm really nervous as I think I may be taking the Lovenox my Dr. prescribed wrong. I guess I'll just have to wait until tomorrow and call and find out. I thought he said to give myself one injection daily but the prescription says twice daily. I've had two DVTs so am nervous about having another. How are you feeling? who is doing your surgery? I'll be praying for you. Would you please say a prayer for me also? Thanks, Carolyn

Thanks, Yes, my surgeon is planning on repairing the hernia when he puts the band in. I have lost almost a hundred pounds at least 3 times in my life and gained it all back. I know I can lose the weight but can't keep it off . I'm hopeful that the band will help me as I think I will be eating the same way after I've lost.

Hi wannabethin, I can relate to that. I play golf and am tired of being the largest one that is out there and I've quit going to the pool or beach because I'm so big.

Hi all, It has been awhile since I posted anything,as I originally had a surgery date for July 16 and had to postpone because they found a hyiatal hernia. Went to my surgeon yesterday and set a new date for the 7th of August. Am excited yet scared. I'm on coumadin so have to give myself injections of Lovenox for 4 days before and 9 days after.. Dr. Olsen will be doing my surgery at Cennential in Nashville. I'm older than most of you and sometimes think I must be crazy for doing this. Just pray that I am making the right decision. Hi, I had my blood work yesterday and I also had an upper GI so had to go without water or food for 12 hours actualy I didn't have anything for 24 hours and they drew blood quiet easily. It took awhile as they had to get 6 vials. However, if you are allowed do drink lots of fluids and it does make it easier. Good Luck, Carolyn

Laurend, Thank you, I finally got my ticker to going. I've been trying for weeks to get that thing done. I'm kind of dumb with things like that too. Hope you are doing great after your surgery.

I've been trying for 2 weeks to get this ticker thing on my signature and finally made it.

I've not been banded yet and I have terrible mood swings and am on Zoloft which helps a great deal.

Hi Everyone, I've been reading all your replies and feel so old. I'm not sure about this surgery for me. I have a date set for July 16. I had not heard of this lapband surgery until last year on TV and started reseaching it and I'm just getting older and older. Don't know if I'm wasting my money or not but I guess if I am it won't be the first I've wasted and certainly won't be the last. Maybe I can live the rest of my life not so heavy and feel like i look as good as anyone else my age. (Hopefully). I've not posted much and am not too savvy on this sort of thing but will do my best and thanks to all of you for your support. Carolyn

Hi Tengal, I too am apprehensive as I am on coumadin and have had one Dr. tell me I shouldn't have it done because of my age and the coumadin. I've had 2 DVTs and certainly don't want another. I hope you will do great and I expect you will. Good luck and God Bless!!!!!!!

Hi Jody, I went for my consultation last Tues. and my Dr. said I could lose as much as I want and that he would let me know when I had lost too much. He said that I wold lose slower but that one could lose all excess if you want.

No, haven't been to any support groups. I live in Crossville so have to find one closer than Nashville

Hi I guess I must be the oldest of the older and am scheduled for surgery July 16. I've been working on this for about a year. So am going to pay myself but have had one Dr. refuse to do it because I'm on coumadin chronically and am 66 years old but he is the only one who has said I shouldn't do it. Any comments anyone?

Yes, I'm getting banded July 16th. Dr. Olsen in Nashville is banding me. I'm a little nervous as I am on Coumadin and am 66 years old.

I have to take 7.5 mg. of coumadin daily. Would the Lap band be compatible with coumadine?

I'm a Republican and proud of it.
